"I think we have hit a tipping point where procurement has become a pretty complicated practice. There's so many options and choices and optimizations with concepts that are just so alien to the typical user." - Jason Kim, Senior Director of Product Management, Coupa The procurement technology landscape demands solutions that work for both power users and occasional requesters, yet many organizations struggle with platforms that create friction rather than facilitating smooth workflows. Usability isn't just about the user experience. It's about adoption, compliance, and ultimately the strategic perception of procurement itself. In this episode, Jason Kim, Senior Director of Product Management at Coupa, explains how AI, integration capabilities, and user interface design are reshaping the procurement experience for everyone from seasoned buyers to infrequent requesters. Jason shares practical insights on designing systems that eliminate cognitive overhead, the critical importance of transparency in procurement workflows, and how meeting users where they are (rather than forcing them into rigid interfaces) drives better outcomes for procurement organizations. Jason also discusses: How the procurement technology landscape has evolved from suite-based to point solutions and back again over the past decade Why successful procurement platforms must meet users in their existing workflows rather than forcing context switches The critical difference between designing for power users versus infrequent requesters (and why both matter) Why eliminating cognitive overhead is essential for user adoption and spend management compliance The evolution from centralized to truly decentralized procurement models enabled by intelligent orchestration Links: Jason Kim on LinkedIn Subscribe to This Week in Procurement Subscribe to Art of Procurement on YouTube

In this episode of The Great Plains Archaeology Podcast, host Carlton Shield Chief Gover is joined by Dr. Madeline Mackie, Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Michigan State University, to explore the archaeology of mammoth kill sites in the Northwest Plains.Dr. Mackie walks us through what makes a site a “kill site” and how archaeologists determine whether mammoths were hunted by humans or died naturally. She shares insights into the types of tools, bone modifications, and site features that point to deliberate human activity—offering a glimpse into the complex and skilled lifeways of Paleoindigenous peoples. The discussion also highlights what these mammoth kills reveal about how early humans adapted to shifting environments at the end of the Ice Age, providing crucial context for understanding the transition into the Archaic period. Dr. Mackie closes with a call to action: the Plains needs more archaeologists dedicated to uncovering and interpreting the Archaic period—one of the most understudied and dynamic chapters of Indigenous history.TranscriptsFor a rough transcript of this episode, head over to https://www.archaeologypodcastnetwork.com/great-plains-archaeology/24LinksThe Archaeology of the North American Great Plains by Douglas B. We get in to our Mens Room Question: What's the last thing that happened before the crash?
After the Kansas Board of Regents ordered all DEI eliminated from state universities there was still a question if KU would try to resist the directive. But on Tuesday, KU Chancellor Doug Girod issued a memo to all employees emphatically directing them to dump pronouns and a whole bunch of other crazy stuff by July 31. What a great day for KU! Tariff deals are in place now with the Philippines and Japan. The deal with Japan is massive and unprecedented and the Philippines deal is gloriously lopsided in the favor of USA. Trump unloaded on Barack Hussein Obama Tuesday indicating he's guilty of treason and every other word you can think of and they have Obama "stone cold." Well, there's no backing off this now. ESPN has started its football coverage, normally very good, in terrible fashion. We have examples featuring the Chiefs and Cowboys. Adam Sandler is starring in Happy Gilmore 2 beginning Friday on Netflix and had some really great comments about Travis Kelce in the movie. Salvy's two home runs Monday night have a really great side story as he took two boys out of the stands after the game and gave them bats. They were boys he didn't know and this story is the stuff of legend. The two candidates running for Mayor of Overland Park both indicate the Royals at 119th and Nall is unwanted by their residents. One candidate goes as far as to say over 95% of people in the area hate it. And our Final Final is the SMU football coach blasting the SEC.

A Cessna Citation crash in March that killed all aboard appears to be the result of bad pilot decision making. Responding to the interest of numerous listeners, John Goglia and Todd Curtis dig into what happened. The pilot was completing a cross-country flight in the early morning hours of March 22, 2025. He took off after 11 pm the previous night in Teterboro, NJ, and crashed hours later in San Diego.John and Todd explore the questionable decision-making by the pilot. Near the end of the flight, the pilot decided to continue with his landing despite the weather information indicating conditions were below the minimums for his approach. The series of events falls into the Swiss cheese model - many safety factors were ignored, adding up to a tragic result. Risky choices include planning take off late at night and planned arrival before dawn at an airport that had no local weather observations available. Plus, the forecast implied that the visibility at the destination would likely be below the minimums for the chosen approach. This accident was not caused by technological failures or unexpected weather hazards. Pilot decisions led to this plane crash. Speaker Mike Johnson's decision to halt a vote on the Epstein documents resolution until after the August recess reeks of calculated obstruction. After initially posturing as someone open to transparency, Johnson pulled the plug the moment bipartisan momentum began building. His excuse—that Republicans should allow the administration space to act—is a transparent smokescreen. What he really did was take the one mechanism Congress had to demand accountability and neutralize it with a procedural timeout, shielding powerful interests from public scrutiny under the guise of calendar logistics. This wasn't about timing—it was about shielding. With bipartisan pressure mounting and the public overwhelmingly demanding the release of Epstein's records, Johnson didn't just pump the brakes—he pulled the entire emergency lever. Rather than allow a debate that might force uncomfortable truths into the light, he chose to grind the House to a halt. He suspended votes, sidelined committees, and essentially shut the door on any chance of real legislative movement. to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Johnson shuts door on House vote before September on releasing Epstein files | CNN Politics

Neoborn Caveman shares thoughts on life's challenges, from conformity and compliance to urban living and historical events, looks at vaccine history including the Cutter Incident and lab-made viruses, and highlights rural choices over city dependence. The episode features Big Sexy's song "Michigan".Support the show on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/TheNeobornCavemanShowEpisode DescriptionIn this episode of The Neoborn Caveman Show, host Neoborn Caveman opens with a welcome to gracious living in a world of challenges and technofeudal influences. He shares his quote: "Conformity kills the soul, and compliance kills the body," supported by historical examples. With green tea in hand, he talks about weather conditioning, glass ceilings, and hopes for heaven on earth through mutual respect and simple rural life with local resources.Neoborn questions urbanized areas as sources of harmful emissions and control, noting that 75% of people live there. He shares his choice to raise children away from cities, avoiding alcohol, smoking, drugs, and fake food for a healthier imprint. Reflecting on past love for New York and London, he now prefers to stay away. The discussion covers old articles on lab-made polio viruses from 2002, using internet recipes and mail-order DNA, funded by DARPA. He questions bioterrorism fears and mentions the 1955 Cutter Incident, where defective vaccines affected 200,000 children. NC connects this to broader oversight, compensation programs, and views on vaccines, favoring sanitation and moral living over widespread use.He also promotes Christian values, one-partner ideals, and checks for health in relationships. Neoborn Caveman's Canada's Mirage and The Digital Trap, available on Amazon. The episode includes Big Sexy, an international band, with their song "Michigan" from the album My Temporary Silence.Key TakeawaysConformity and compliance harm the soul and body, as per Neoborn's quote, with historical proof.Urban living contributes to most harmful emissions; rural life with local resources offers a better alternative.Lab-made viruses, like the 2002 polio recreation funded by DARPA, raise questions about true bioterrorism sources. The 1955 Cutter Incident showed defective vaccines causing widespread harm, leading to federal regulations and compensation programs.Favor sanitation, moral choices, and limited dependence over vaccines for everything; urban conditions accelerate diseases.Support independent thinking, avoid fake food and vices, and choose partners carefully for health.Featured music: Big Sexy's "Michigan" brings authentic American emotions and stories.Soundbites"Conformity kills the soul, and compliance kills the body." – Neoborn's quote on obedience effects."What is murdering the planet is not CO2... it's urbanized life—75% of humanity there, creating emissions for convenience." – On city impacts."Scientists made an infectious poliovirus from scratch... funded by DARPA. Bioterrorists? Or our own labs?" – On lab viruses."The Cutter Incident: 200,000 kids vaccinated, 40,000 paralyzed, 10 dead. And they call it 'oversight'?" – Historical vaccine event."Big Sexy's 'Michigan'—American vibe, a story to feel, with Eagles notes.
