Eleanor Goldfield hosts this week's show. Her first guest, Shir Hever, explains what he describes as Israelis “zombie economy”, and its media establishment that isn't telling Israelis the truth about the genocide being perpetrated in nearby Gaza. Then Margaret Flowers returns to the program to discuss the astonishing death toll exacted by US/EU economic warfare against nations they deem hostile, from Venezuela to Iran. A recent study published in the Lancet medical journal estimated that these unilateral “sanctions” have claimed more than 500,000 lives worldwide each year, from malnutrition, increased infant mortality, unobtainable medical care, and other causes. Music-break information: “No Rest for the Weary” by the Blue Scholars The News That Didn't Make the News. Each week, co-hosts Mickey Huff and Eleanor Goldfield conduct in depth interviews with their guests and offer hard hitting commentary on the key political, social, and economic issues of the day with an emphasis on critical media literacy. Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell continue to connect the dots in the Scott Spivey shooting case as they impatiently wait for South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster to appoint a special prosecutor to revisit what has turned out to be one of the most corrupt police investigations in state history. On this week's episode: Did shooter Weldon Boyd's months-long obsession over his ex-fiancé have him in a fighting-mood on the day he and his friend Bradley Williams killed Scott? In SLED's download of Bradley's phone there were 60 screenshots of text messages between Weldon and the mother and grandmother of his son, showing Weldon's increasing anger over his inability to control and manipulate his former fiancé. Those messages, along with court records, recorded phone calls and social media posts reveal that Weldon wasn't just momentarily upset about his broken engagement the afternoon of Sept. 9, 2023, when he encountered Scott on Highway 9 in Horry County… Mandy and Liz share their new timeline on Weldon's potential state of mind as he tousled with Scott on the road, along with Weldon's tactical messages, seemingly crafted to create a paper trail for the narrative he wanted everyone around him to believe. Let's dive in!
It's a little strange for a eulogy to go viral especially when it's not dedicated to a politician or celebrity that's passed, but this eulogy is for the joint funeral of a couple Kristin and James Brock. Killed in their sleep while their two daughters slept just a few doors away. The killer is still on the loose. Kristin's eldest daughter gives the closing line of her eulogy, “I love you guys so, so much…I'm sorry.” A relative who is present at the funeral will later recall the teenager's cadence - how it was one of the weirdest things they have ever witnessed. What is that voice they're doing? It sounds like crying but not a single tear… Afterwards, the teenager, whose 5 year old sister was the one to find their parents' bodies, goes down the line of relatives repeating the phrase, “I'm sorry.” Why is 17 year old Sarah Patrick apologizing to everyone when it was her mother and stepfather that were killed? Five months later and a digital footprint of tiktoks will give the police enough evidence to make an arrest. Authorities accuse Sarah Patrick. Could the teenage daughter who recited a eulogy for her deceased parents really be a killer performing a eulogy for her murder victims? Full show notes at rottenmangopodcast.com
