RUNDOWN Is Mitch secretly a MOBSTER? The guys ride the high of a Seahawks blowout while fretting an Earnest Jones IV injury and torching D.C.'s awful turf, then rip through birthday/lore nuggets. An unforgettable World Series finish, seen through a Seattle lens—taking petty joy in Toronto's collapse while admitting Game 7 (and the under-discussed, error-filled Game 6) will haunt Mariners fans for years. Then it's all Seahawks: a near-perfect beatdown in D.C., vintage throwback uniforms, and why John Schneider should chase help at WR/OL/LB before the deadline. Mitch, Brady, and Jacson break down Seattle's 38–14 primetime rout of Washington — a game where both sides of the ball finally clicked. They discuss Sam Darnold's near-perfect night (one of only four 97+ QBRs in the NFL this season — three belonging to him), Mike Macdonald's astounding 11–1 road record, and the play-calling brilliance driving the offense. Rick Neuheisel joins Mitch to break down a wild week in college football — from the bloated buyouts fueling a $160 million coaching carousel to Washington's unlikely playoff path. The two dive into quarterback drama, "alma mater alimony," and the rise of dual-threat sensation Demond Williams, before wrapping with Taco Time's weekly honors — including a nod to Oklahoma's kicker and his unforgettable Daisy Duke game-day look. Christian Caple joins Mitch to assess the Huskies' 6–2 season and the playoff math that could still put Washington in the 12-team field if they run the table. He breaks down the defense's ability to hang with Oregon, the tricky stretch at UCLA, and how Jed Fish's success could make him a hot-commodity coach with a star quarterback in tow. Delta and Cape Air pilots narrowly avoided disaster at Boston's Logan Airport when one plane was cleared to land and another to take off on intersecting runways—coming within 0.73 miles of each other. The Delta jet was just 125 feet from the ground before aborting its landing. Meanwhile, Burbank Airport announced a major new terminal project. In Southern California, West Hollywood's massive Halloween Carnival gears up for a big night under perfect weather, featuring a hilarious Conway Halloween story and plenty of decorations. Downtown L.A. celebrates Halloween with actor Robert Englund—Freddy Krueger himself—getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Officials also discuss new storage options for homeless RVs. And in Santa Monica, a sweeping Realignment Plan aims to stabilize finances by boosting police presence, modernizing building codes, streamlining business permits, adjusting parking fees, and reforming neighborhood grant programs.
We pull the curtain on what happens when iconic slashers, demons, and haunted houses try to survive network constraints, syndication deals, and the long tail of serialized storytelling. From cursed antiques pitched as Friday the 13th to Freddy Krueger moonlighting as a wisecracking host, we map the distance between brand recognition and actual fear.We start with the bait-and-switches: Friday The 13th: The Series builds a curiosities procedural with zero Jason; Freddy's Nightmares promises lore, then delivers scattered anthology entries dulled by shoestring budgets; Poltergeist: The Legacy trades domestic dread for secret-society casework. Then we pivot to the exceptions that actually land. The Exorcist honors the 1973 classic with a tense, character-led investigation, only to be tripped by Friday scheduling. Scream shows how one choice—the Ghostface mask—can fracture a fandom, even as later seasons sharpen the writing. Hannibal ascends to high art with operatic psychology and lavish imagery, yet rights and platform mismatches undercut its momentum. And Bates Motel demonstrates the winning formula: focus the lens on character, build pressure season by season, and let the performances carry the myth.Along the way we talk budgets, censorship, licensing, first-run syndication, and the invisible hand of distribution that can doom or save a show. The takeaway is simple: film-to-TV horror works when it protects core iconography, leads with character, and fits the platform's reality; it fails when a famous title is glued to a mismatched premise or neutered by constraints. If you care about how fear translates from a two-hour shock to a multi-season slow burn, this one's for you. Enjoy the ride, then tell us your favorite or most painful adaptation, and don't forget to follow, rate, and share to keep the conversation going.

The dynamic between the hosts is infectious, with Leah sharing her insights, adding depth to the conversation while also peppering it with her witty commentary. The hosts emphasize the importance of relatable characters in slasher films, lamenting the
Although this movie is considered meta-physical, it does have some Nightmare on Elm Street vibes and Black Phone 2 is definitely an effective sequel that delivers reinvigoration. The Grabber, just like Freddy Krueger, is able to wreak psychic and physical violence on people from within their dreams which makes it a genuine top shelf movie for me. What a cool interview! Talking to Maev and getting the inside scoop of this movie is priceless information… With the continuous praising of this film nationwide, I am very happy that I Maev got to be a part of it. Maev also spoke about a scene that never made it in the final cut! We spoked about her role as Barbara and what it was like on set to work with Mason and Madeliene; two more talented actors that should be recognized for their hard work and achievements. Black Phone 2 is still playing in theaters, and I highly recommend going to see it, you will not be disappointed. Please find Maev on Instagram, follow and support her!

Wes Craven's 1984 horror classic A Nightmare on Elm Street introduced Freddy Krueger, a dream-stalking slasher who kills teens in their sleep—kills that become real—and was inspired by a chilling true epidemic of Sudden Unexplained Nocturnal Death Syndrome (SUNDS) among Southeast Asian refugees in the late 1970s–80s. A young Cambodian survivor of the Khmer Rouge genocide (1975–79, ~2 million dead) resettled in the U.S., tormented by nightmares of being chased, resisted sleep for days, then died mysteriously in bed with no autopsy findings; the CDC documented over 100 similar cases of healthy young Hmong, Laotian, and Cambodian men dying overnight. Locally explained via folklore—like the Philippine batibat hag or Thai widow ghost suffocating victims—these deaths were later linked to Brugada syndrome, a genetic heart arrhythmia triggered by stress, heavy meals, or PTSD, though the "hundred years' enigma" remains unsolved, blending real trauma with cinematic terror. Hoje resumimos em menos de 8 minutos a história de origem de Freddy Krueger.
This week we return to Elm Street to do battle with Freddy Krueger once more but this time in the real world with the real actors of the film in New Nightmare. Journey with us as we discuss this wild slasher revival that brings Wes Craven back into the fold as writer/director and a story that blurs the lines with film and reality. Is this the jumpstart the franchise needs or is this meta idea too ridiculous for its own good? So pour some rye, get your T-Rex stuffed animal, and don't forget to read the script. Cheers!

What if your favorite horror movies weren't fiction at all? In this chilling episode of Mysteries, Mayhem & Merlot, we uncover the real-life killers and legends that inspired Hollywood's most iconic nightmares. From Danny Rolling—the Gainesville Ripper who birthed Scream—to John Wayne Gacy's clown persona that echoed through It, the Manson Family's cult terror, the cannibal clan of Sawney Bean, and the Hmong sleep demon that gave rise to Freddy Krueger—these stories prove truth is far more terrifying than fiction. Grab your glass of Merlot, turn off the lights, and step into the shadows where real murder meets movie magic. Happy Spooky Season, Everyone! As many of you know, scary movies freak me out. But that doesn't mean I don't love today's guest! Today I'm talking to a horror icon— Freddy himself, Robert Englund! Robert is beloved for his performance as Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare on Elm Street and its many sequels. He has also had an illustrious career outside of Wes Craven's franchise, appearing in hundreds of films and TV shows, including a recent appearance as Victor Creel in Stranger Things. On Halloween of this year, he will be immortalized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and it could not be going to a sweeter, more generous person. Robert is a joy to talk with and I'm so honored he took the time to chat with me. We have gotten to know each other over years at conventions and we have a great conversation about what it's like to be associated with an iconic role, his warm relationship with horror fans and how he used his experience on-set to inform his performance as Freddy. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did— and Happy Halloween! A Nightmare on Elm Street is on the agenda, and our sister Lisa from NxG Global Productions and Reel Movie Lovers joins us to break it all down!We kick things off with a conversation about spoilers, review rules, and expectations, before diving into our first memories of the horror icon Freddy Krueger and his chilling backstory. From the worst horror moms to whether this franchise could ever be successfully remade, nothing is off-limits!We debate our favorite horror icons, unpack Nancy's questionable mom, and explore Wes Craven's signature third acts. Plus, we ask:What movie decision would YOU make differently if you were in their place? What are our two most irrational fears? And of course, we close it all out with the question that matters most…WAS IT GOOD THOUGH!?
Welcome to Elm Street Revisited, a Dread Central podcast interviewing the Dream Masters responsible for directing sequels to A Nightmare on Elm Street. In our second episode, host Josh Korngut sits down with Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare director Rachel Talalay, the trailblazing filmmaker who gave Freddy Krueger his flamboyant farewell in New Line Cinema's most audacious entry in the franchise. Together, they revisit the making of Freddy's Dead — from its gonzo 3D finale and celebrity cameos to its biting satire of suburbia and media culture.Talalay opens up about stepping into the director's chair after years producing for New Line, her creative partnership with Wes Craven, and what it meant to be one of the only women to direct a major slasher at the height of the genre boom. She also shares candid reflections on the legacy of Freddy's Dead and its place in the evolution of the Elm Street mythos. This episode continues Elm Street Revisited — a special Development Hell event series interviewing the living directors behind the Nightmare on Elm Street saga.Ready to revisit Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare? This week we're looking at 1987's A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. It took three movies to make Freddy Krueger Freddy as we know him today. An empire of horror was launched off the back of this movie: toys, comic books, video games, masks, everything. Dream Warriors dropped at a critical moment for A Nightmare On Elm Street, after the critical failure of Freddy's Revenge the IP ended up on the chopping block at New Line. If this movie didn't perform the studio planned on shelving future sequels. Boy did it, perform! This is our favorite entry in the series and this episode of Bring Me The Axe really makes it clear.Ignoring the events of Freddy's Revenge entirely, Dream Warriors picks up where the original left off. Nancy Thompson is back to assist the teenage patients at a psychiatric hospital who find themselves hunted in their dreams once again by Freddy Krueger. Utilizing the special psychic talent of one patient, Nancy gathers the patients together where they reveal their special dream-world talents, talents that will come in awfully handy when the time comes to face their fears and take Freddy on once and for all, or at least until the following year when the next Nightmare on Elm Street sequel dropped.Join the Bring Me The Axe Discord: https://discord.gg/snkxuxzJSupport Bring Me The Axe! on Patreon:https://patreon.com/bringmetheaxepodBuy Bring Me The Axe merch here:https://www.bonfire.com/store/bring-me-the-axe-podcast/
