“More often than not, I'm fighting for my life!” - Eric, on his recurring nightmares On this week's episode, our Halloween Spooktacular kicks off and, in the spirit of this year's FOUR-OR MOVIE theme, we're chatting about Renny Harlin's English language debut, A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master! How great is this Freddy-assisting dog that pees fire? Did we really need to start the movie with a Bible quote, when a scroll about the lore of the Dream Master would've been much more helpful? How cool is the big Freddy soul escape sequence at the end? And should Joey's parents have bought him that water bed? PLUS: Did Wishbone the Literature Dog flirt with human women on that show? A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master stars Robert Englund, Lisa Wilcox, Tuesday Knight, Brooke Theiss, Toy Newkirk, Andras Jones, Danny Hassel, Ken Sagoes, Rodney Eastman, and Jake as Jason the Dog; directed by Renny Harlin. Ken Sagoes! What an inspirational and awesome actor who has reached the elite status in Hollywood and the horror community. Ken is very humble and appreciative of his fans and that is what makes him such a wonderful person, I can listen to him talk all day. We talk about his role as Kincaid and how a lot of the younger generation connected with his character regarding how individuals who suffer from mental illness has the ability to be strong and anyone can overcome their challenges if you have the right friends and you are around the right people. What makes Ken such a inspiration for the community is that he founded the Giving Back Corporation (GBC), an organization that gives back to the community by sending inner-city youth to a summer camp and also institutes the assistance for supplies for those who want to pursue a college degree. Additionally, the GBC inaugurates honor entertainment pioneers who have paved the way. I am still in awe after speaking to him; he has definitely left an impression on me that is very positive and I am going to cherish this interview for a very, very long time; and his wisdom is something I will pass onto my kids and something I will take to the grave with me. Make sure to check out his new movies coming up which can be found on IMDb. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/southjerseyhorror/message

Due to the critical failure surrounding “Nightmare on Elm Street 2,” New Line Cinema was hesitant to green light a third film in the franchise but when original creator Wes Craven decided to come back on board to help write the script, the studio decided to move forward with the project. Craven's idea centered around a third and final film that would conclude the series, especially considering he didn't initially plan on making any movies past the first one. His original script actually involved Freddy Krueger crossing over to the real world and tormenting the actors making a “Nightmare on Elm Street” sequel. The studio shot that down, although Craven eventually got his wish to make that film a few years later. Craven eventually teamed with writer Bruce Wagner to come up with the concept for the film, which initially started out as a much darker take on Freddy and the teens he was going after in their dreams. Ultimately, the studio opted to go in a different direction with more outrageous dream sequences mixed in with some seriously dark humor. What resulted was a story about a group of kids locked away in a psych ward after each of them dealt with horrendous night terrors but it turns out they were all being haunted by the same man in their dreams…In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we're going to crank up the Dokken and load up on hypnocil as we discuss “Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors”…

In honor of the belated birthday of one of the best Dream Warriors ever on screen, I had to knock this one out... I'm slowly but surely getting to more of these entries, so I can't wait to finish up this series sooner than later. But not only was this to celebrate Ken Sagoes aka Roland Kincade, but to celebrate the best sequel in this series. As much as I want a reboot of this same premise, this one does it for me. Freddy isn't as intimidating here, but the kids he goes up against make for his most formidable opponents yet at this point. And since they don't want to dream anymore, they're ready to whoop ass. Enjoy, people.

Ken discusses with Scotty about how he's the first African American in a horror/slasher flick to survive the film and be brought back for the next film in the franchise, how not wanting to initially do the audition for the film and being angry led to him getting the part, where the hot boiler room scene in the third film was filmed, his favorite part about the junkyard scene, what he thought about having super strength in the third film, and much, much more. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/slasherscotty/support

It's back to nightmareville this week as we return to the classic Elm Street franchise with the 3rd installment: Dream Warriors, released February 27th, 1987. Completely ignoring the events of the second movie, we see the return of Nancy Thompson as she trains a group of teens to harness their dream powers and defeat Freddy once and for all. A lot of people considered this to be one of the best horror sequels at the time. We give it a watch to see if it holds up! Hope Flood is one of the fastest rising “Keeping It Real” female comedians on the Laff Circuit today. Her appeal is universal due to the everyday life experiences she speaks about on stage; whether it’s relationships, love lust, motherhood, or just surviving the “New Millennium.” Flood’s thought provoking general and funny commentary keeps audiences on the edge of their seats thirsting for more. A Comedy Veteran, Single Mother, Comedian, Actor, Philanthropist, Convention Show Runner, Publisher (of the very first Nationally distributed Comedy Magazine called “COMEDY THE MAGAZINE”), back in the day, way before blogs and twitter, and more recently On-Air Radio and Television Personality, Live Streamer, and Comedy Booker. Hope has been in the business for over, ahem, 20 years, and has produced weekly showcases that helped launch the careers of many successful comedians from Jamie Foxx to Chris Tucker. She’s also been featured in the bestselling comedy book and album entitled “SNAPS,” and has headlined some of the most well-known comedy clubs in the world. A semi-finalist in the “OLD ENGLISH 800 WOMEN’S COMEDY CRUNCH,” and a two time semi-finalist in the “BAY AREA BLACK COMEDY COMPETITION,” Hope’s accomplishments of this multi-talented artist just seem to pile up so high, it’s hard to even see the top of this pseudo Hollywood bullshit. Hope’s talent has taken her on a European Comedy Tour, a few times to the Virgin Islands, The Bahamas, Jamaica and has made even Alaska roar with laughter faster than Sarah Palin can say boom. After decades of being on the road, Hope is back home in her home town of Los Angeles and has left Dallas Texas where she is a well-known Comedy Radio DJ as she was handpicked by BJ Murphy (the top morning show DJ in Charlotte North Carolina to host as a sidekick on his show called BJ in the Morning. (I kid you not). The show aired on 105.7 on KRNB. Hope took the cities by storm with her “Out of the Box” mentality and of course, hilarious jokes, and her very unconventional views, and the ratings flew from a .09 to a 2.4 in less than two years. Comedian Hope Flood has appeared on the “RUSSELL SIMMONS, HBO ALL STAR DEF COMEDY JAM,” Hope was on Ten Seasons of “BET’s COMICVIEW,” where Hope won her own one hour “Grandstand Comedy Jam Special.” Hope was later chosen as one of “BET’s” 39 most favorite comics. “COMEDY CENTRAL’S COMIC GROOVE” hosted by Tracy Morgan, the country picked for the 2009 season of “MARTIN LAWRENCE PRESENTS: THE 1ST AMMENDMENT STAND-UP” on the STARZ cable network channel hosted by Doug Williams. Hope is no stranger to the stage or the big screen having performed in the NAACP Award nominated play “CULTURE SHOCK,” the “KEN SAGOES & FRIENDS VARIETY SHOW,” and John Singleton’s “BABY BOY” just to name a few. Hope is a rising star, even after all of these years. Hope Flood is very influential in the URBAN COMEDY scene as she has donated years to philanthropy to benefit young African American girls to with school materials and backpacks in a non-profit Hope Runs called “A NICKEL OF HOPE, INC.” Hope features “HOPE GIRLZ CLUB” an after-school mentoring program for at-risk girls of the inner cities. Hope is a woman in complete control of her own shows, image, brand and her own Rockstardom. When it comes to style, class and style, Hope focuses on making people laugh. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/th... Ken Sagoes is someone I truly admire. Where others just talk about social change or other ills that plague American society, Mr. Sagoes actually does something about it: charities, scholarships, and awareness programs. All of these are aimed at communities that are often overlooked by many in our country. To say that Ken Sagoes is a beacon would be an understatement. The current project that he is working on concerns a film adaptation of his new book The McHenry Trail, a story about a fifteen-year-old prodigy who is looking to free his wrongfully convicted father with the use of his exceptional legal skills. To get the full film made, however, Ken needs to prove to the studio suits that he has the chops to make a feature of this weight. So, with the power of Indiegogo and the goodwill of those willing to pledge funds, Ken will make a short film surrounding a few key scenes from the book. #Indiegogo #KenSagoes #BlackCinema

His latest literary journey is the novel, The McHenry Trial - Don't Judge A Kid By Their Hoodie, which we'll talk about. Mr. Sagoes is a civil-rights activist, and he joins us for a full hour, talking about all these things...and more!

Ken Sagoes... mostly known for his role as "Roland Kincaid" in "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors" and "A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master". One of the coolest people I've ever met. He took time out from signing autographs for horror fans at the "Horror Sideshow Market" in Allentown, Pennsylvania to talk to me about his role in those iconic horror movies along with his upbringing and what he has planned for the future. Coming from a very religious family in the south, it wasn't an easy decision to accept the role in those Freddy Krueger movies... he tells a couple funny stories about that. Along with his organization that helps send kids to college. Give this one a listen. Ken is a super nice man. Enjoy. Respect.

Future action movie maestro Renny Harlin came to Hollywood from Finland to take over the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET franchise for one entry with THE DREAM MASTER, in which Freddy Krueger gets resurrected in order to get revenge on those who put him in his grave, and to hopefully take a few more teenage souls along the way.  Brian Helgeland co-scripts this effort that brings together Robert Englund, Tuesday Knight, Lisa Wilcox, Rodney Eastman, Ken Sagoes, and Danny Hassel.  The result would prove to be the biggest box-office success for the series to that point, and a killer soundtrack to boot.

Ken was the first African American actor/ character to survive an 80's slasher film and come back for a sequel. He has all the best lines in Nightmare on Elm street 3 and one of the COOLEST death scenes in the franchise in my opinion! These days Ken is hard at work in various writing projects and hundreds of hours of charity work. He truly is an amazing human being. I can't tell you what an honor this is for me.
