With the annual Flashback Weekend Horror Convention just around the corner, Nick welcomes Mike Kerz—the man behind the madness—for a look at how this beloved event began and how it's grown into a horror fan's dream. From humble roots to a stacked lineup featuring Robert Englund, Dee Wallace, Joe Dante, Devon Sawa, Danielle Harris, and the casts of Terrifier, Re-Animator, The Howling, and more, this year's gathering at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare (Aug. 1–3) promises serious screams and nostalgia. Nick and Mike reflect on over two decades of hosting panels, fan memories, and the joy of celebrating genre film with a passionate community. Then Esmeralda Leon jumps in for a wide-ranging conversation about gentrification, the corporate takeover of everything from coffee to culture, and why Meg Ryan's character in You've Got Mail is actually the villain. It's horror, heart, and a little hypocrisy—all in one show. [Ep 367]

Robert Englund stops by to shrink the girls. Leo heals a neon sign.
Many horror fans have either watched or heard of the Urban Legend film from 1998 but did you know there were two sequels produced in 2000 and 2005?Join BP, Coop and Justin as we analyse each movie and discuss the use of urban legends in film, Slenderman, modern day horror folklore and yes we even shine a light on the attempted Urban Legend reboot from 2020 that would've explored AI and deepfake technology.Urban Legend (1998) was directed by Jamie Blanks, written by Silvio Horta, and starred Jared Leto, Alicia Witt, Rebecca Gayheart, Tara Reid, and Michael Rosenbaum, and was the first installment in the Urban Legend film series. Its plot focuses on a series of murders on the campus of a private New England university, all of which appear to be modelled after popular urban legends. In addition to its younger cast, the film features supporting performances from Robert Englund, Danielle Harris, Loretta Devine, John Neville, Natasha Gregson Wagner, and Brad Dourif.Urban Legends: Final Cut (2000) was directed by John Ottman in his directorial debut, and starred Jennifer Morrison, Matthew Davis, Hart Bochner, Joseph Lawrence, Anthony Anderson, and Loretta Devine. It is the second installment in the Urban Legend film series and follows a film student being stalked by a serial killer in a fencing mask, who begins murdering the crew members of her thesis film about urban legends.Urban Legends: Bloody Mary (2005) is a direct-to-video supernatural slasher film directed by Mary Lambert, and starred Kate Mara, Robert Vito, Tina Lifford, Ed Marinaro and Lillith Fields. It is the third and final installment in the Urban Legend film series, although it is almost entirely unrelated to both of the films that came before it, using supernatural elements instead of a whodunit formula. The film follows three high school students who inadvertently summon the ghost of a dead high-school girl, who starts coming after her old classmates. In April 2025, it was announced that a new reboot was in development by Screen Gems, with Shanrah Wakefield writing the script. Gary Dauberman and Neal H. Moritz are set to produce, with the story aiming to be "an examination of what an urban legend looks like in a post-digital world."CHAPTERS00:00 introduction00:48 Title Sequence1:11 Introducing Urban Legends2:00 What are urban legends?3:33 Real-Life Nambucca Heads Urban Legend6:20 Franchise Overview8:06 Urban Legends (1998) – The Good and Bad12:41 Is Brenda a good villain?15:40 Are the opening and ending scenes good?18:45 Urban Legends: Final Cut (2000) - The Good and Bad26:03 Was the teacher a good villain?27:35 Are the opening and ending scenes good?31:35 Urban Legends: Bloody Mary (2005) – The Good and Bad40:00 Tanning beds and Final Destination 343:22 Is the ending and villain reveal any good?44:45 Cancelled reboot involving deepfakes and AI49:23 Modern ‘Urban Legends' and Slenderman51:25 Have you won a copy of The substance on 4K Ultra HD?52:01 Conclusion53:02 Thank you for watchingFollow the Complete Guide to Horror Movies podcast on our social channels below.↪ TikTok↪ Twitter↪ Facebook↪ Instagram↪ Subscribe to our YouTube channel↪ Shop our Store!↪ Tip us $5↪ Linktree↪ Letterboxd#urbanlegend #urbanlegends #bloodymary #retrospective #horror #podcast #review #aliciawitt #jaredleto #lorettadevine #rebeccagayheart #tarareid #joshuajackson #tanningbed #finalcut #horrorfilm #terror #90sfilm #00sfilm #reboot

Elm Street is getting hot, heavy, and homoerotic as hell in FREDDY'S REVENGE, starring Mark Patton, Kim Myers, and Robert Englund. We've brought back special guest Ms. Megan to discuss this controversial sequel in honor of both Friday the 13th (we'll explain) and LGBTQIA+ Pride Month.
Send us a textKatie and Bridget keep each other awake as they rewatch the 80's horror classic: A Nightmare on Elm Street! Come along as we meet Nancy, an allegedly 15 year old teenager, who begins to have nightmares about Freddy Krueger, a bumbly serial killer with finger knives! Ah! When her friend Tina, her boyfriend Glenn, and the local menace Rod all have similar dreams of the same man then everybody starts dying! Seriously - there's lots of cool deaths in this movie with lots and lots of blood. Nobody believes Nancy when she tries to tell everyone who the killer is - not even her Mom who murdered the damn guy and is keeping his finger knife glove in her basement as a trophy - spoiler alert! It's up to Nancy to do all the research, make all the booby traps, and fight back against Freddy in her dreams. Seriously, should Nancy be the chief of police instead of her father!? Released in 1984, it was written and directed by Wes Craven and stars Heather Langenkamp, Johnny Depp, Robert Englund, John Saxon, Amanda Wyss, Jsu Garcia, and Ronee Blakley.

While New Nightmare has its moments of creativity and strong performances, it ultimately falls short of delivering the thrills and chills that fans expect from a Nightmare on Elm Street film. It's a thought-provoking entry in the franchise, but one that lacks the cohesive storytelling and visceral scares that made the original films classics. For die-hard fans of the series, it may be worth a watch, but for those seeking a truly terrifying experience, it may leave you wanting more.
This week we're making dreams come true with 1997's throwback creature feature WISHMASTER. Featuring a who's who of horror both in front and behind the camera, the birth of the Djinn makes for a fun romp in the vein of not only 80s splatter horror, but also the classic Universal Monsters of yore. With FX from KNB and appearances from Robert Englund, Tony Todd, Kane Hodder, Reggie Bannister, Ted Raimi, the voice of Angus Scrimm along with an executive production credit by Wes Craven, this is a Dream Team of creatives for a B-movie. Mike, Brian and Devaughn are joined by guest John Seavey of the Half Priced Horror podcast but be careful what you wish for, because dreams can turn to nightmares pretty quick. Also, what's with all the smoking?
The 90's were such a wonderful time for horror. 1996 In particular really kickstarted a new wave of horror, especially the rebirth of slashers. Yes, we all know Scream but there was firehose of teens getting butchered in the late 90's to 2000's and Urban Legend was one of the most memorable ones starring a who's who of teen icons! Friend of the pod (and good friend of mine) Clay joins me to discuss real Urban Legends, working on film sets, other movies and so very much more! If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. I do free movie giveaways, mini movie reviews and more! Also, I decided to dabble in making my own slasher film entitled “Bishop's Day”. Check out the Instagram page for updates.

JSA #56 (2004)Welcome to #JSApril! Worst Collection Ever is proud to participate in this celebration of JSA content by delivering our wicked takes on Geoff Johns's “Black Reign” saga! This issue plays out more like the first act of a promsing action flick, with Black Adam recruiting a crew of disenchanted, mayhem-seeking folks to help him liberate his home country of Kahndaq. We got the assassin Nemesis, a tatted-up Eclipso, a freshly-mutated Northwind, a conflicted Atom Smasher and Chester Bennington of Linkin Park aka Brainwave aka Robert Englund from the V mini-series. The scene gets bloody and emotional and there are cooling brains all over the place. We also spend a bit of time parsing out Northwind's creation so, if you new to the podcast, put a fun movie on for the kids and then hide under a blanket while you listen to this. All this plus Jen and Shawn buy a bunch of cheap trades, new DC Absolute offerings and the Hawk Tuah Girl runs afoul of the Dark Knight![NOTE — we (or specifically Shawn) refers to Northwind a bunch as “Hawkwind.” Hawkwind was a band that Lemmy was in before Motörhead - we are aware of this. This week we kick open the boiler room door to the absolute madness of A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors and 4: The Dream Master, where logic sleeps and chaos reigns supreme. Here's what you're signing up for (you've been warned):
Hello and welcome back to another episode of B Bin Horror! On this week's episode we talk about the 1987 Horror/Slasher, A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors! Dream Warriors was directed by Chuck Russell from a story developed by Wes Craven and Bruce Wagner. The film stars Robert Englund, Heather Langenkamp, Patricia Arquette, Larry Fishburne, Priscilla Pointer, Craig Wasson, John Saxon, Dick Cavett and Zsa Zsa Gabor. On this week's episode Dylan and Fred are joined by the one and only, J Money! Jaime tells us stories about meeting the cast, Dylan forgets to take notes, and he also forgets the name of the movie and calls it Friday the 13th, so of course we make fun of him for it. If you like what you hear please follow us on Instagram and Facebook @bbinhorror. You can also send us emails at bbinhorror@gmail.com and please don't forget to subscribe to B Bin Horror on whatever podcast platform you listen on! *B Bin Horror theme music - "Uprising" by Karl Casey @ White Bat Audio*

Join us for this special episode as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the iconic horror film “A Nightmare on Elm Street.” We delve into the genius of Wes Craven, exploring how his groundbreaking vision shaped the horror genre and introduced us to the unforgettable Freddy Krueger, played masterfully by Robert Englund. We'll take a nostalgic look back at the film's leading stars, including Heather Langenkamp, John Saxon, Ronee Blakley, Amanda Wyss, and Nick Corri, and we can't forget the breakout role of a young Johnny Depp, who faced off against the terrors of the dream world. Tune in as we dissect the film's impact on pop culture, its enduring legacy, and why it still keeps us awake at night. Given the name of their podcast, we had to have Brooke and Marc back from A Podcast on Elm Street to help us look back at 40 years of terror on Elm Street and how it has shaped the horror genre in the years since its release. Whether you're a lifelong fan or new to the franchise, this episode is packed with behind-the-scenes stories, expert commentary, and a deep dive into what makes "A Nightmare on Elm Street" a timeless classic. “More often than not, I'm fighting for my life!” - Eric, on his recurring nightmares On this week's episode, our Halloween Spooktacular kicks off and, in the spirit of this year's FOUR-OR MOVIE theme, we're chatting about Renny Harlin's English language debut, A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master! How great is this Freddy-assisting dog that pees fire? Did we really need to start the movie with a Bible quote, when a scroll about the lore of the Dream Master would've been much more helpful? How cool is the big Freddy soul escape sequence at the end? And should Joey's parents have bought him that water bed? PLUS: Did Wishbone the Literature Dog flirt with human women on that show? A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master stars Robert Englund, Lisa Wilcox, Tuesday Knight, Brooke Theiss, Toy Newkirk, Andras Jones, Danny Hassel, Ken Sagoes, Rodney Eastman, and Jake as Jason the Dog; directed by Renny Harlin.
