As I beam with pride on Inauguration Day 2021 when Joe Biden and Kamala Harris take the oath of President and Vice President of the United States, I am reminded of a saying from my great grandfather about him being smart enough to be in Washington DC. Today, we discuss the Black Girl Magic of Vice President Kamala Harris and her historic accomplishment as the first Black and South Asian Woman to ever hold that office. My great grandfather knew one day we as a people would be in Washington DC! It's a celebration of American History, Black History, and our history!

I discuss with Sheridan who is about the same age as Breonna her feelings and what do wedo next! We explore what it means to be black and a woman in the yet to be United States ofAmerica. The wounds run deep, the hurt is unimaginable, anger is real, and exhaustion hasbecome a permanent way of life for us as black women with the trauma of sexism, racism, andmicroaggressions.

The questionSheridan often asked was Ma, Can I? This episode shares our lesson in giving permission toyour children, people, or love ones. Sheridan and I share our journey of how we navigatedthrough the terrain of the relationship that's most pivot to the life of the younggirl…..mother/daughter relationship.
