MEETING DIRECTOR NIA DACOSTA & STAR JACK O'CONNELL!! 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple Interview – Coy Jandreau sits down with star Jack O'Connell (Sinners) and director Nia DaCosta (Candyman, Hedda, The Marvels) to talk about the bold, unsettling next chapter in the iconic 28 Days Later franchise. From the film's explosive “concert-like” energy to its eerie sense of macabre whimsy, The Bone Temple pushes post-apocalyptic horror into strikingly new territory. Nia DaCosta breaks down her vision for balancing bombast and stillness, contrasting the peaceful, nature-driven world of Kelson with the chaotic, cult-like mythology surrounding Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal. She discusses her fascination with horrifying acts set against beautiful landscapes, the film's heavy use of natural sound and imagery, and how themes of humanity, belief systems, mortality, and coexistence with nature shaped both the tone and visual language of the film. Jack O'Connell dives deep into creating Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal, exploring how Alex Garland's precise, lyrical writing informed the character's physicality, voice, and unsettling charisma. He talks about weaponizing iconography, embracing moral ambiguity, and the freedom of playing a character unconcerned with judgment — as well as the collaborative bond formed on set with his fellow cast members during intense night shoots. The conversation also touches on DaCosta's influences, her approach to inheriting and expanding existing cinematic worlds, the idea of shared authorship across trilogies, and how The Bone Temple embraces a darker, more philosophical take on survival, death, and meaning in a world forever changed. 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is in theatres NOW!! It's a shiny new year, so this month on Unpacked, we're diving into Afar's Where to Go list: 24 emerging regions and overlooked locales to explore this year. Places like Saba, a tiny Dutch Caribbean island with no beaches, no cruise ports, and the world's shortest commercial runway—just 400 meters long. What it does have: lush volcanic landscapes, 20 hand-built hiking trails, and a population of just over 2,000. In this episode, host Aislyn Greene talks with Bianca Bujan, a Vancouver-based travel journalist who shares the thrilling 12-minute flight from St. Martin, the island's gingerbread-house architecture, and why her teenager called it his favorite trip ever—despite spotty wifi and no beaches. The House of Grimaldi has ruled the tiny principality of Monaco since January 8, 1297, when Francois “The Spiteful” Grimaldi disguised himself as a monk and knocked on his uncle's castle door, launching a coup. In the violence that followed, according to legend, a woman – possibly a lover of Francois, possibly a witch he had wronged (can't it be both?) – issued a curse that has resonated across the centuries: “Never will a Grimaldi find true happiness in marriage.” The Grimaldi family was considered scandalous enough in Queen Victoria's time that she forbade any of her close relatives to marry into it, leading Prince Albert I of Monaco to marry an American heiress in 1889 – a precedent that would matter decades later when Prince Rainier III, urged on by none other than shipping tycoon Aristotle Onassis, began interviewing Hollywood A-listers for a very special role: Princess of Monaco. What if I told you that even legendary actresses, women who've been honored by the Queen, won Oscars, and are considered living legends, still talk about fear as a constant companion? In 2018, a documentary called "Nothing Like a Dame," featuring Dame Judi Dench, Dame Maggie Smith, Dame Eileen Atkins, and Dame Joan Plowright, revealed something profound: even the most accomplished performers in the world still grapple with fear, insecurity, and limiting beliefs. Today, I'm sharing what this film and these legendary women have to teach us about transforming fear into power and claiming the stages you're meant for. In this episode, we'll explore: Why fear doesn't disappear when you become successful, and why that's actually a good thing How these women's experiences relate to public speaking and leadership The difference between those who let fear stop them and those who transform fear into fuel Why there's no mold for what a speaker should be and how you can use your voice powerfully, not despite your imperfections, but because of your humanity More from Tricia Fast-track your path to big stages inside The Big Talk Accelerator Join me LIVE for my Free Monthly Workshop Explore my content and follow me on YouTube Follow me on Instagram Connect with me on Facebook Connect with me on LinkedIn Visit my website at TriciaBrouk.com

I Start the show discussing me watching a lot of shoot interviews from some of Pro Wrestling's legends like Gary Hart, Greg Valentine and more. I'm amazed how they did matches on the fly with no prior knowledge of the match flow and they called it in the ring. This generation plans the match from bell to bell before the show or Agents call the match from the Gorilla position. I give kudos to the old school doing match without prior planning. Then i discuss Karrion Kross and MVP. Then i review this past week of WWE and AEW plus more. There's nothing like a good beer in summer, surrounded by friends, BBQ lit up with burgers sizzling and the baseball game on the radio. Some breweries around the U.S. look to exemplify summer in a single beer style like golden lager or pale ale. But what really makes these beers fit for summer? Aren't all beers good when the weather turns warmer? What are customers looking for in a summer beer and how are breweries delivering on this? On this episode of the All About Beer podcast, we talk to Washington based Chuckanut Brewery and Brooklyn based Threes Brewing about their summer seasonals and what they hope to achieve by brewing these summer styles. We're celebrating our 10th anniversary all year by digging in the vaults to re-present classic episodes with fresh commentary. Today, we're revisiting our 2019 conversation with Valerie Simpson of Ashford & Simpson. ABOUT VALERIE SIMPSONSix-time Grammy nominee Valerie Simpson is best known as one half of the songwriting, production and performing duo of Ashford and Simpson, which she formed with musical partner and eventual husband Nick Ashford after they met at a church in Harlem, New York, in the early 1960s. After early successes with Aretha Franklin's recording of “Cry Like a Baby” and Ray Charles' recordings of “Let's Go Get Stoned” and “I Don't Need No Doctor,” Nick and Valerie signed with Motown Records, first as songwriters, where their early successes included the hit singles “Ain't No Mountain High Enough” and “Your Precious Love,” recorded by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. They soon began both writing and producing for the duo, with hits such as “Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing,” “You're All I Need to Get By,” “Good Lovin' Ain't Easy to Come By,” and “What You Gave Me.” Additional writing and production credits at Motown came with hits by The Supremes, The Marvelettes, The Miracles, Gladys Knight, and Diana Ross, who found success with “Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand)” “Remember Me,” “Surrender,” and a remake of “Ain't No Mountain High Enough” that topped both the pop and R&B charts. In addition to writing #1 hits such as Quincy Jones's “Stuff Like That” and Chaka Khan's “I'm Every Woman” after their Motown period, Ashford and Simpson began releasing their own recordings as a duo, landing nearly 40 songs on the Billboard R&B singles chart. Their list of Top 10 hits as artists, includes “It Seems to Hang On,” “Found a Cure,” “Love Don't Make it Right,” “Street Corner,” “Outta the World,” “Count Your Blessings,” “I'll Be There For You,” and “Solid.” Ashford and Simpson were the recipients of the ASCAP Founder's Award, which is the highest honor bestowed by the organization. They were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, named among Rolling Stone Magazine's 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time, and provided the inspiration for the establishment of the Soul Train Ashford & Simpson Songwriter's Award. Following Nick's untimely death in 2011, Valerie has continued to write, record, and even appear on Broadway in the acclaimed musical Chicago.
