They discuss the many ways in which once make believe places have become real, creative spaces in our world, such as Disney World and Universal studios. Jordan takes us on a quick recap of his already wild ride of a college experience, talks to us about the commitment of being a part of ROTC, and also explains why he made the decision to go HAC. On this week’s episode of HAC Underground, John gets to sit down with Dr. Christine Olding, the head of the Humanities & Communication Department at Trine University. They discuss what it’s like to be a high risk professor in these times along with her trial by fire becoming head of the department in the middle of a pandemic. Christine also gives us a little peek into what next semester is going to look like around campus.

Today John gets to sit down with Professor LouAnn Homan, and she talks about what it was like turning herself into Emily Dickenson, being a part of the Emily Dickenson festival and the many other festivals, she is a part of. We also discuss Poe Night that is held on campus and what happens during it in preparation for the even next week.

Today John sits down with Sophomore Chemical Engineer Eden Diller, which yes this is an oddity for HAC Underground but stick with us. Eden is a part of the Indiana National Guard, and she gives a look into what it was like being the calm within the COVID storm.

Today John has a chat with former professor and theatre director Dr. Byron Bond. John and Dr. Bond discuss a little about his journey to Trine, how Covid affected his decision to keep teaching and so much more on this episode of Hac Underground.

It’s almost Valentine’s Day and James and Jarod are discussing the origins of the beloved holiday. Honestly, it’s crazy how long this holiday has been going on! Other than that it’s a short episode this week but it ends with some important announcements for HAC students.

Blake Williams, a freshmen communication major, joins Jarod and James to discuss all that he’s accomplished so far in the HAC department. From being a recipient of the Jannen School of Arts and Sciences scholarship to being recently cast as the male lead for the recent play, Blake has got a lot under his belt only being a freshmen. The trio then get into some deep conversations about their HAC majors and discuss why they love the HAC department so much.

James and Jarod return after a nice winter break with a new member of the HAC Department. Professor Michelle Blank join them as they discuss her new classes as well as exciting Ph.D work. John Kay, a HAC student, also stops by and is possibly invited to co-host the podcast!?

James and Jarod decide to review Kanye West’s new album, Jesus is King. They discuss the interesting lyrics Kanye has implemented, as well as how unique this release is. Is Kanye going to change the industry again?!

It’s that time of the semester where not much is going on. Jarod and James are unsure what to talk about so they have conversations about James and the current books he is working on. Somehow, the conversation switches from school work to Japanese mechs and how they both want to live in something they call “retro future”. This truly is a strange episode.

James and Jarod sit down to talk about the fall season, especially when it comes to movies in relationships. Jarod once again shows his lack of movie experience, with James apparently recommending every good Halloween movie. We also discuss the infamous pumpkin spice flavor and James explains how to have a good pumpkin patch date.

James suggested to Jarod to watch Pulp Fiction and Jarod absolutely loved it. We learn how Jarod doesn’t watch movies and the brilliance that is Quentin Tarantino movies. Can James turn Jarod into a movie expert? Or will Jarod continue to only play video games?

John Kay, from Trine University’s Communications Department, sits down to talk about his experience here at Trine University. John is a frequent podcaster and broadcaster. We discuss his journey getting into broadcasting and the steps he takes to prepare for commenting a live game. Also, be on the lookout for updates involving the HAC news site, new content is starting to be pushed out!

James and Jarod begin their first episode with an overview of the new spaces and activities going on this semester at the Jannen School of Arts and Sciences. They also have Dr. Christine Olding as a guest. Dr. Olding recently and successfully defended her dissertation. She also is in charge of the new Writing Center located in the LINK.
