I will also be attempting to bring back meaningful civil conversation on a wide variety of controversial topics. HOLY MOLY! Its been a minute since the OG podcast duo did an episode, but here it is and it doesn't disappoint. This episode we get into trash TV shows, cryptozoology, gross and weird foods we would eat, the Olympics, the biggest problem our society faces today, and more! (Always a diverse set of topics when your being historically insignificant). AYO!!! New episode out after a pretty decent break (apologies). This one does not disappoint though. Cente and I talk about 'Pokemon Go's' crazy public display, the influence of social media and technology including the uprising/resurgence of hardcore fandom, the weird situations surrounding the 2021 Toyko Olympics, the downfall of American Democracy and more! As always, historically insignificant is about having seemingly meaningful conversations in a seemingly unimpressive, unrememberable way to highlight the ironically upsetting situation we find ourselves all in. Then our argument just starts twisting and turning around the republican party, current politics and policy, weird new stories that popped up over the week, etc. (Let's just say its one of those super historically insignificant episodes). A quick half-hour would you rather episode. I will say, even though it was quick and light-hearted, this idea of asking crazy would you rather questions that you would never be faced with in real life, is part of the purpose of historically insignificant. We need to have conversations about the future, about what decisions we would make in certain situations, because over the next few decades, who knows what we will all be challenged with. This week was full of crazy stories in the news. Apparently there was a coup against Maduro in Venezuela? There was a black man in Georgia who was not only wrongfully murdered, but the DA and others ignored the case for 3 months until the general public saw what happened. Congress voted to limit the President's war powers in relation to Iran, then immediately folded once he vetoed the bill. The President's tax returns are finally under the review of the supreme court. Michael Flynn's charges were dropped by the Department of Justice. We found out there is no limit to what people will name their children in the case of Elon Musk's new son, X Æ A-12.... and so much more! Jason and I needed some time to rant and what better place than in the studio of Historically Insignificant. This week, if you are feeling overwhelmed, take some time to rant to a friend about something that just hit home for you. We're confident they have their soapbox as well. Hello, Hello!! Video games play a big role in Jason and I's lives and we wanted to take the time to just have fun and talk about the games we love and hated, what we think about current games and gaming culture, and what we think the future of gaming looks like. Video games used to be considered an addicting and time-wasting hobby but it has evolved into a rich and engaging outlet where people can be apart of a strong community and pass the time in a competitive or casual way. From the first consoles we owned to live streaming and professional gaming, we talk about a lot of different topics related to the world of online gaming. This episode we tried removing some of the structure from the conversation so Jason and I could better be ourselves and I gotta say, it was way more fun. Moving forward we may keep the 3 section format for editing purposes, but we are interested in doing non-topical episodes, changing up the generality or specificity of the topics and alternating our objectives episode by episode. We are also interested in tackling the concept of this podcast and growing with it through each episode. Are we asking what is or is not historically significant? Are we making arguments that things should be significant or not? Is nothing historically significant anymore in this age of information and we are just passing the time having fun conversations? We are continually asking ourselves where this podcast may go, so thanks for joining our journey and more and more of the fun back and forth us friends have will be revealed the more comfortable we get with this format. We put out our streams and socials in this episode, so feel free to reach out if you have any constructive criticism or comments about what you would like to see us talk about! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/historicallyinsignificant/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/historicallyinsignificant/support

Hey Friends! Me and Jason had a super fun time putting this first podcast episode together. We talked about the 4th amendment and how private our cell phones actually are. We talked about the criminal justice system and the supreme court's role in deciding for us what is considered protected and what isn't when it comes to the data on our mobile devices. We also touched on how much of our lives, when it comes to the implementation of technology, really isn't in our control. A few people in robes and a few silicon valley CEO's are deciding what rights we have when it comes to our consumerism of technology and we should all be paying close attention while we traverse this new, unknown frontier of internet saturation. So join us in asking big questions with no answers. (We may have a few answers here and there...) And lets reignite having meaningful conversations again about more than memes and sports (even those have their moments for sure). P.S. The podcasts will become less structured (sectioned out) when we figure out more and more where the cast is going, how the timing is going to work, future ads to be implemented, etc. so if you have an suggestions (music in the background?)
