Hope Over Hype

This conversation reminded me of how sweet of a place it is to be in full dependence on God. Shelbs always reminds me of the importance of saying yes and walking in what God has called you to. I am celebrating God's faithfulness through my friendship with her. She is the real deal & I'm grateful for the power of God within her! Check out our conversation!

And I'm choosing to praise God today even though the hype isn't there. He is so worthy of our praise! Psalm 103 reminds me of that--check it out today!

Caitlyn is who I want to be when I grow up, and I have loved the way God has allowed our paths to cross over the past several years! She has such a heart for the Gospel and the people around her. I have been so challenged by the ways that she so boldly loves her neighbor! You will love hearing her love for sports as well as the practical advice she gives in choosing hope in the day to day!

Rusty Stroupe is so much more than a baseball coach even though that is what he did for a majority of his life. He is a truth speaker and a friend to all. He will make you laugh and also point you to Jesus. I am SO thankful for this conversation. God has used Coach Stroupe in my life in such a big way. You will love hearing about his memories in the sports world and how his foundation of HOPE made everything worth while!

WELCOME TO SEASON 5! This season takes a look into the lives of individuals within the athletic world who choose HOPE in the midst of a world that naturally has a lot of hype. Jake DeLaney is the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Gardner-Webb University as well as a faithful follower of Jesus. This conversation has some DEEP hope, and our prayer is that you will walk away knowing God better and knowing the HOPE to which you have been called. We would love to dedicate this episode in loving memory of Jane Delaney. "Barbara Jane DeLaney arrived at her eternal home with Jesus at the age of 58 in Birmingham, AL, on Monday, August 23, 2021. She died after a four-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. Jane was known for her deep and abiding love for Jesus Christ which overflowed into everything she lived for. She was a fiercely faithful friend, a fighter for the helpless, a devoted wife to her love, and a champion mother to her adoring children. Jane was a deep well of wisdom, a natural leader and a creative artist at heart. She has left a legacy of love in her wake and will be deeply missed by all who knew her" (Obituary of Barbara Jane DeLaney in Dignity Memorial 2021).

MY GRAPHIC GUY. B has been such huge part of the process of Hope over Hype, and I am celebrating God's faithfulness through him! He has created all of what you see--from the logo to the graphics for each particular episode to T-shirt and sticker designs. He is extremely talented and most importantly, he gives glory to God in everything that he makes. I have LOVED having him involved in this journey, and I will hype him up every chance I get because we couldn't do it without him over here at Hope over Hype! A fun conversation with the GREATEST GRAPHIC GUY OUT THERE.

Jared Roess. The ultimate bro & the guy who will hype you up more than anybody else. He went from the hype to the HOPE, and we are CELEBRATING! There is so much honesty in this conversation, and I'm reminded every time I talk to Jared in the power of the GOSPEL. I'm thankful to know him, and I'm thankful you get the chance to know him too in this episode! A life transformed by the mighty hand of God--what could be better than that?!? This conversation was SO much fun to have. Austin was one of my first college friends, and praise the Lord for His faithfulness in allowing us to continue our friendship in this season of our lives (either that or I just can't seem to get away from him--HA). It has been a honor to watch God work in his life. I am constantly amazed at God in Austin Miller! Thankful to have him in my corner AND as my actual neighbor (#DELTAPARKBOYZ). HAPPY 20TH EPISODE OF HOPE OVER HYPE! A conversation that will leave you feeling insanely HYPE about the HOPE. I am thankful for the power of God within John Wilson! The message and hope of the Gospel is infused within every word of this episode. You will LOVE listening to the JOY in his voice as we celebrate the faithfulness of God! I'm thankful for the summer of 2018 for a lot of reasons, and John Wilson is one of them!

She is the wildest but WISEST woman I know. The truth that she speaks just in this episode alone is incredible. Thankful for the way she challenges me to be real and to lean into the goodness and faithfulness of God. She has taught me so much about the importance of Scripture and the power of hospitality and discipleship. Raley Holman is like a sister to me & one of the greatest cultivators of community I know. I have loved watching God work in and through her over the past several years. She is in a constant state of growth and seeking ways to glorify the Lord. The places we have served together have been some of the most impactful times in my life. She has encouraged & challenged me in so many ways but specifically over the past week she has shown me that God's glory and our good are one and the same and what a game changer that has been in my perspective! My 10th grade Public Speaking teacher turned friend turned neighbor. My time in her classroom was a launching pad for the rest of my life. She taught me how to communicate effectively and encouraged me to speak about what I was passionate about - JESUS. I have watched from the sidelines the ways God has moved in her life over the past 10 years, and it has been incredible. God is so FAITHFUL. I'm thankful for her heart, her pursuit of Jesus, and her proclamation of His goodness. You will LOVE hearing from Katie. Also, I'm pretty sure she is my ultimate soul sister---I felt deeply every single thing she shared. So thankful for her life and the way she lives it!

Isaac & Carol are the kind of people you want and NEED in your corner. They are like family to me and some of the hardest goodbyes when I leave home. They pursue hope in the most intentional and powerful ways, and they are SO much fun! You will love hearing the Gospel through each answer they give and the 5 minute clean up song will be a game changer for you:) Thankful for the way they live their lives!

As a Mississippi native, the state itself holds a special place in my heart but the people even MORE. Laurie & Camille are two of my best friends. We have known each other since we were babies and we have celebrated a lot of life together. Although we now all live in 3 different towns, our close bond remains. They have pushed me to choose hope in every season of my life. I am SO thankful for them--if you don't know them, I am confident you will love them after hearing our conversation! HAPPY NEW YEAR! This episode is a product of my Sabbath time a few weeks ago---I felt like my heart was going to come out of my chest in the process of writing and recording this! I am confident that God is going to continue to prove Himself faithful this year. The joy of Jesus you experience when you are around this family is contagious. They have an incredible story that is FULL of God's redemption and might. I can't believe we have been doing this for 6 weeks!! GOD IS ON THE MOVE. I am so grateful for each conversation and for the ways truth has been spoken. I don't want us to move from this series without taking a minute to process and reflect. This is an episode of reflection in my own life and a challenge to you to do the same! Keep choosing HOPE.

Zeke is my former officemate and one of my greatest friends. He is a seeker of growth and challenge. He gives God glory in everything he does! He is a treasure, and if you do not know him, you will want to after this! He has shown me this year what it looks like to choose hope in the day to day. I am so excited for you to hear his heart and the reason he works so hard in all areas of his life! As Zeke always says: Keep Jesus first. Be great. Eat pizza.

Annie Freeman is famous for saying: "What do you know to be true?" She has challenged me so many times with that question and pursued the answer even more times with me. I'm grateful for her leadership. I'm grateful for her friendship. I'm grateful for the way she loves fiercely. I want to be like Annie when I grow up! You will be stirred by TRUTH and in awe of God's mighty hand in her life!

Hannah Ray: my college roomie, the one I process with, the one who always points me back to Jesus. God has given her such a GIFT with words. You are in for a treat with this conversation!! Hope over hype. Relationship over rationale. God has and is doing an incredible work in her life. I am SO thankful for the opportunity to walk through this life with her.
