Jennifer has a unique perspective because of the opportunity she's had to walk through the adoption journey as a birthmother and also as an adoptive mother. Faced with an unplanned pregnancy in college, Jennifer chose to place her son for adoption. After marrying her husband, Rusty in 2005, God led them through infertility to reveal His plan for them to grow their family through adoption. Through the very same agency that Jennifer placed her son, they were given the chance to become parents to two more sons. "As parents of adopted children, we have the sometimes difficult job of teaching them to embrace their stories. No matter what hard places they come from, those roots and their birth family are a piece of their identity that we must love and honor. By doing that, we give our children the confidence to love themselves because of the honor and love that we show.” As an adoptive mom, Jennifer has been given the opportunity to use the rejection and loss that she feels as a birthmother, to help her sons celebrate the life that they have been given and understand the love of their birthmothers. As you hear Jennifer's story and begin to see through the eyes and heart of a birthmother, may it help you more clearly identify ways to love your child by honoring the one who chose life for them. Love Your Story

Play Episode Listen Later May 4, 2022 43:34

Episode 218: Life Engineered- Interview Rusty Lindquist Welcome to the Love Your Story podcast! When we talk about living your life story with intention, we are essentially saying, let's engineer our lives. Let's look at what we want and purposefully create thought patterns and habits to be who we want to be. Rusty Lindquist was interviewed in the early years of the podcast - episode 21 - Remember that because you're going to want to go back and listen to his story if you haven't heard it yet - His father thought he was being called on by God to sacrifice his son and that led Rusty and his mother to run for their lives. This man lived alone, hiding out in a forest as a 10 year-old. He knows how to go from trauma to success, so he's got cred. Rusty founded Life Engineering to help individuals, parents, leaders, and organizations cut through everything and achieve excellence. Life Engineering provides the tools and the training, the motivation and the methodology, an entire system designed to help people move beyond where they have been, to go farther than they thought they could… to achieve more, to do more, to become more. It's about more than just short-term success. It's the disciplined pursuit of excellence.   Tune into the audio program for my discussion with Rusty Lindquist and to get a real look at what life engineering looks like and answers to these questions: Let's start with your story - what was the path to creating Life Engineering? What are the main components of engineering a life? What activates and unleashes our energy? - Our potential… What about apathy? What happens when you feel like the effort isn't worth the outcome? Let's talk about human potential and science. What do you scientifically know about how to access human potential? What motivates us?   To contact Rusty: rusty@lifeengineering.com www.lifeengineering.com https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-XyC4DyynM (Learn to sustain energy and begin your purposeful journey - YouTube) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUqrtb5Rzz0&t=94s ( The Greatest Asset On Earth - YouTube) https://lifeengineering.com/human-achievement-events-training-and-speaking/leadership-development-and-live-training/ (Leadership Development and Live Training – Life Engineering)   Time, talent, energy….understanding how to activate and sustainably employ that energy so you can reach the outcomes you want. Anything worth having is going to take work. I can tell you now, having a few decades of living under my belt, that time just keeps rolling on. Before you know it another 10 years have passed, and what have you done? Did you do, experience, become what you wanted? If not, now is the time to use the resources, like what Rusty has talked about, like what I talk about on the show, the 21 Challenges, life coaches, etc. to help you engineer what you want. I love that we live in an age where we have so many resources for our success. So many that it's sometimes overwhelming - so many podcasts, so many books, so many life coaches, so many programs, but all it takes is one good one. Start somewhere if you need support and greater understanding of what it looks like to go a little further than you've gone in the past. Image that satisfied feeling a year from now, when you've created something you really feel great about. Or lived in an active way that created opportunities for you. Your challenge this week is just to think about what you want in your life, and then consider what type of engineering could help you get it. Thanks for being here. Check out http://www.loveyourstorypodcast.com (www.loveyourstorypodcast.com) for links to buy Living Intentional and Fearless Everyday, to get the show notes with Rusty's contact information, to hear all the past 200+ episodes and all the great stories in each one. Email writing can be a powerful tool in a salesperson's arsenal. It's a great way to nurture leads, establish trust, and build relationships with potential customers. But, like any tool, it's only useful if you know how to use it properly. It can be tricky to know what to say in an email and even more difficult to make sure your emails get read and responded to. What are some tips and tricks for writing emails that get read and get results? In today's episode, Rusty and Ron talk about email writing as one of the fundamentals of prospecting and salesmanship. They will discuss in detail the tips and tricks for writing subject lines that draw people to your emails, how to write a solid email body, and how to end an email effectively.Enjoy! In This Episode01:38 - Why email isn't the only way to prospect03:56 - What people think about emails05:29 - Tips and tricks for writing subject lines that get people to read your emailsNever use more than four words in the subject lineAsterisks as the number one punctuation that gets the highest responseNo number in a subject line is goodUse your own company nameThe number one thing in subject lines that produces the most response rates Flattery and direct asks work really well in subject linesInfluence and persuasion language are not goodIn terms of emotion, neutral tones had the highest response ratesDo not use the word 'you' or your'18:48 - The tips and tricks to creating an effective email bodyThe greeting linesPersonalize what you're sayingDo not use big words for the sake of sounding smartBullets and dashes have a below-average response rate on emailsUse call to action | ask a questionAvoid hyperlinks34:53 - The best ways to work on signaturesFavorite Quotes03:18 - "One person can sit down and write a great series of emails. But there's a reason why you need to hire a sales force of people because when you get organized, you target the right people, you prospected them, you get the right multi-threaded cadence, you engage, you use your human connection, and you personally engage with people, that's how you get results, not by robo-bombing everybody." - Rusty Jensen07:17 - "One of the things psychologically that happens when I look at my emails is if I think the email is from a bot or it's not a person, it actually releases some endorphins into your body when you delete it, like deleting your emails, it makes you happy." - Ron Halbert19:10 - "You're not trying to sell them through an email. As a salesperson, the whole goal is to get them on a call. Email should facilitate a conversation." - Rusty Jensen24:19 - "You want to really be subtle in terms of how you engage. You don't use a lot of big words. You don't want to use vocabulary words or ways of framing things to where you sound really smart. This isn't like a college paper. This is a conversational piece." - Rusty Jensen31:38 - You should ask one question. You should never ask two. So, one question should be included in every email you send, but more than one question is not good. It's just too much people aren't gonna respond." - Ron HalbertConnect with our HostsRusty Jensen on LinkedInRon Halbert on LinkedInThe Sales Prescription on LinkedInConga WebsiteListen to more episodes of the Sales Prescription PodcastSpotifyiTunesGoogle Podcast
