In the days since the United States and Israel launched a military operation against Iran, the media has been misleading us. Obituaries of the Islamic Republic's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamanei, left out basics, including his role in attacks on Americans and his regime's horrific, systematic sexual assaults on girls and women. Big Media also showed pro-Iran bias in deciding which groups get the “terrorist” label.  Today, Josh tells us what the media won't. He dismantles disastrous “reporting” from the New York Times, CNN, and the Washington Post. He explains how the media abandoned Iran's brave protesters in recent months — a decision that strengthened Iran's ability to fight off military action. The BBC even traveled to Iran to do propaganda for the regime. This story ties into another big story at home that sounds unrelated: a merger involving CBS and CNN. He goes on to tell the remarkable story of how the Frost and Fire debut album came to be. It was a completely DIY affair, from financing to recording to artwork to pressing to distribution, which was unheard of in those days. Rob also explains how he obtained the legal right to use the Cirith Ungol name from the Lord of the Rings books. It's a fascinating dive into a bygone era, at the very dawn of heavy metal in America. This month AJ and Andy review the closest thing Secret Army has to a Christmas Special: Guests at God's Table, by series script editor John Brason, otherwise known as 'the one with the orphans.' Despite having its faults, perhaps mostly deriving from the fact that the episode is entirely studio-bound and involves child actors, the pair find much to enjoy.  Together they pick out the episode's strong thematic contact such as 'organisation versus improvisation' and 'romanticism versus realism' and the cosy scenes of festive life in the Candide that joyfully pepper this instalment.  There is appreciation of the new connection between Monique and Brandt and musings on the direction this might have taken had Michael Culver elected to stay with the series. And there's confusion over two many extra men - Roland Huys and Maurice Tourtellat - both of whom serve little purpose to the narrative. Elsewhere, Andy is perhaps a little too excited about new information relating to staff members at the Candide, including a name for its never-seen chef! Gordon talks about Levi—a bright, capable, curious young man—and the difficult journey he walked having Swyer Syndrome and being transgender. Gordon talks about the valiant efforts of Dave and Kimi to support their son. Gordon talks about the immediate days after Levi died and his role to minister to the Martin family—including writing his obituary and eulogy. Gordon talks about ministering principles to support others in their time of crisis/need—principles that help us all do better.
