Trey Zeigler- Professional Basketball Player, Now Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Creighton!

Zeigler is a TCU graduate, having earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in General Studies with an emphasis on Communication in 2015. He was a student-athlete for two years at Central Michigan, where he played for his father, Ernie Zeigler. Trey then went on to play one year at Pittsburgh before transferring to TCU where he averaged 10.1 points per game. Over his college career he scored 1,481 points, grabbed 581 rebounds, and dished out 251 assists.Before diving into college coaching, Zeigler played professionally for several seasons. From 2015-22, Zeigler played in nine different countries. He was named to four different Eurobasket.com all-league teams during his professional career. In his 2020-2021 season Zeigler was the only player in Europe to average over 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists. A 2010 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School in Mount Pleasant, Mich., Zeigler scored 1,644 points and grabbed 648 rebounds in his prep career. He averaged 24.3 points and 10.5 rebounds per game as a senior and finished second in the Michigan "Mr. Basketball" voting. He was named to the Third Team All-American by MaxPreps.com. Coming out of high school, Zeigler was a consensus top 30 player."I'm excited to welcome Trey back to Omaha," said McDermott. "He was instrumental in the development of our roster during his time on our coaching staff. His work ethic and ability to connect with people was exactly what I was looking for. The youthful energy and knowledge of our system and style of play, will allow for a smooth transition. "When former Bluejay Alan Huss was hired as head coach at High Point last spring, Zeigler joined the HPU staff as an assistant coach. The Panthers went from 14-17 to 27-9 in Zeigler's lone year in North Carolina, winning the Big South regular-season title and reaching the title game of the College Basketball Invitational. The Panthers jumped from 299 to 114 in the final KenPom rankings, the nation's second-best improvement. Arlen Galloway is in his 11th season as the Head Men's Basketball Coach at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts where he has won over 100 games during his tenure. Galloway's 17 wins in 22-23 marked the most in any one of his 10 seasons.Prior to arriving at Wentworth, Galloway spent two seasons as an Assistant Men's Basketball Coach in the Ivy League at Cornell University. He also spent two seasons as an Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Middlebury College and two as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Kenyon College During the 2006-07 season Galloway began his coaching career at Washington (Md.) HE is now an Assistant at Creighton where they just went deep in the NCAA Tournament run, and there is a great opportunity for this year ahead. Tiek Fields enters his fourth season as Head Women's Basketball Coach in 2021-2022 after spending four seasons as the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at TMU. The 2015-16 unit won the program's first-ever conference tournament game, posting a 72-71 victory over St. Andrews University in the opening round of the AAC tournament. The 2016-17 squad recorded the second most wins and second the best record in Truett McConnell's NAIA era, including a school record eight victories in January 2017.The 2014-15 Bears set a school record with 17 wins and recorded the program's first winning season as a four-year NAIA institution. A tie for second place in the final Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) regular season standings that year was the program's best finish as well.Nationally in 2014-15, the Bears recorded 13 more victories than the 2013-14 campaign and the fifth best jump in wins for all NAIA Division II programs. Truett McConnell ranked nationally in the top 20 amongst NAIA Division II programs in five statistical categories: Field goal percentage defense (No. 10), total rebound margin (No. 12), defensive rebounds per game (No. 12), 3-point field goal percentage defense (No. 14), and total rebounds per game (No. 18).In 2013-14, the TMU Bears were a young and talented group that held two All-Freshman Players and a 3rd Team All-Conference Player in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC).While assisting Jon Yeh the Bears program also set the school records for points scored in a single game (2015-16), points allowed in a single game (set twice during the 2014-15 season), and the fewest turnovers in a season (2016-17).Off the court, the Bears have maintained the turnaround. The Bears lead all AAC men's basketball programs with 12 AAC All-Academic awards since 2014-15. This includes five individuals earning that honor in each of the last two seasons. The program produced its first-ever NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athlete in 2015-16, then saw four individuals earn that elite honor in 2016-17.Prior to Coaching Fields attended Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Georgia, where he was a four-year player for the Lions. My guest on this final episode of the 2021-2022 college golf season is the assistant coach for the National Champion Texas Longhorns, Jean-Paul Hebert.  We spoke about his start in the game, especially when the guest's father and uncle are major champions.  JP had an incredible upbringing in the game surrounded by some of the greatest legends of Texas golf.  Demaret, Burke, Harmon.....imagine having those guys as the elders of your club!  Well, that's what it was like for Jean-Paul.  We chatted a bit about his experience playing at Texas in the 90s and then we transitioned into a discussion surrounding the team that won the National Championship this year at Grayhawk.
