A white girl and a black guy talk about race and racism from the inside-out. In this episode, I talk to Rob Cook (bio below) about race and racism and how his view of both has been changing and evolving throughout his life, from when he was growing up in the housing projects of Birmingham, Alabama through his time in the US Air Force to the moment he came across the Inside-Out understanding of 3 Principles.
In this episode, I'm talking to Psychotherapist and a Transformative Coach, Jason Shiers. Following the sudden death of his father at an early age, Jason had struggled with multiple addictions from the age of 14. He sought help everywhere and tried all kinds of approaches and methods to heal his childhood trauma and to overcome his addictions, including psychotherapy. In fact, he trained to become a psychotherapist himself. But it wasn't until he came across the Inside-Out understanding/3P that he found not only freedom from addictions and healing of his childhood trauma but also a fundamentally different way of looking at life and himself that brought him the peace of mind he was seeking all along.
FROM ADDICTIONS AND YEARS OF THERAPY TO PEACE OF MIND - a conversation with psychotherapist and transformative coach Jason Shiers I have started a series of conversations with people from all walks of life who talk about the impact of the Inside-Out understanding/3 Principles in their lives by sharing their BEFORE (what were they struggling with and what did they do to find help) and AFTER (why the Inside-Out was such a game-changer to them and how it impacted their lives)" stories. In this episode, I'm speaking to psychotherapist and transformative coach Jason Shiers, who spent years training to become a therapist only to leave it all behind after he came across the Inside-Out understanding/3 Principles. He also spent seven years in therapy in an attempt to solve his problems, he then believed stemmed from his childhood trauma - losing his dad in an accident at the age of 5.
This is part of a new series of conversations with people from all walks of life who talk about the impact of the Inside-Out understanding/3 Principles in their lives by sharing their BEFORE (what were they struggling with and what did they do to find help) and AFTER (why the Inside-Out understanding was such a big game-changer and how it impacted their lives) stories. In this episode, I talk to Charli Wall. She's a coach working with people suffering from anxiety and she's also a yoga teacher.
In this episode, I talk about the importance of keeping the balance between the information/advice we receive from others and listening to our own intuitive guidance. I also talk about our uniqueness and why it is important to find our own "groove" in how we deal with anything or go about things (I use "writer's block" as an example). Thank you for watching :-)
Finding your authentic self and living your authentic life - a chat with author Chris Brock In this episode of "How to make sure your life doesn't suck" Chris and I cover quite a range of topics he talks about in his book "Shine Manifesto: Find Your Authentic Self, Life Your Authentic Life". Here are some of them: - how our society and culture shape who we are and our beliefs about life, what's right and what's wrong - what happens when we compare ourselves to others - random acts of kindness and their ripple effect - fear of criticism and the "what will people think" - the need for approval and much more. Chris Brock is a writer and photographer (among many other things) :-)
In this interview, I am speaking to Johnny Swanson, an Army Vet who shares with me how after years of suffering from PTSD, anxiety and insomnia and his multiple attempts to find help through therapy and self-help books (to no avail), he came across the inside-out understanding I talk about in the book "How To Make Sure Your Life Doesn't Suck". He will be sharing with you his story and the AHA moment that fundamentally changed the way he sees his life and himself. More importantly the moment he was finally able to experience peace of mind for the first time in his life.
In this episode, we talk about how the inside-out understanding transformed the way he sees life and himself, his struggles and mental health prior to his life-changing aha moment, what happens when our relationships to our thoughts and feelings changes and we're longer attaching too much importance to them, the trap of "positive thinking" and much more.
ON PLANNING LIFE FROM THE INSIDE-OUT In this episode I will talk about: Planning from the inside-out perspective Do we really need to make long term plans? Do we need a detailed plan to do anything? How to plan from the inside-out
DEALING WITH CRITICISM / NEGATIVE FEEDBACK In this episode, I will be talking about: Criticism, other people’s opinions, negative feedback or comments, etc. from the inside-out perspective Why the inside-out understanding allows us to see anything that’s said or written differently and how it changes the way we react or respond Why you should listen to Alan Alda’s interview with Sarah Silverman? It’s available on the Clear + Vivid with Alan Alda podcast
LET'S TALK ABOUT SPIRITUALITY - MY TAKE In this episode I will talk about: Why the ideas I had about what it means to be spiritual stopped me from considering myself a spiritual person. Is spirituality a woo-woo or is it common sense? What truly matters? Why we should embrace all things intangible even though they cannot be measured or rationally explained. Why paying more attention to our internal lives enriches and changes our external lives
In this episode, Dr. Maggie G. talks about the importance of staying true to ourselves and why paying attention to the two words "want" and "should" can serve as a brilliant clue and a way to check-in with ourselves whether we are following our true desires.
