391 Stories and Connection It is vital to our own communities that we remember our stories and share them with one another, not to dwell on regrets and what ifs, but to reach out and connect with one another so that we all can learn and grow together, and hopefully create more grand stories on the paths we walk together. In this revisited episode, Sarah Elkins and Lee Keylock discuss their own stories and how they have healed through sharing stories and listening to the stories that others share with us. Highlights Connecting with people through sharing stories. Healing from trauma through stories and the community that sharing those stories creates. The changing paths our decisions create and how we should live in the moment and not dwell on what ifs. Greet the world and the challenges offered with open minds and a willingness to learn. Quotes “No regrets. Life is sliding doors right? If it's meant to be, it's meant to be.” “We're perpetual students, right? I've never approached anything I've ever done as an authority on anything.” “It's not enough to just hear stories. That can be brilliant and beautiful and life changing and you can have those moments, but when we work with youth we want them to think about how they can use stories to think about themselves, their communities, and the world and their place in it, and how they can become agents of change.” About Lee Lee Keylock is Director of Global Programs at Narrative 4 and oversees the coordination and administration of all aspects of N4's ongoing programmatic development. Originally from Britain, Lee immigrated to the United States in 1989 and taught English at Newtown High School in Connecticut for thirteen years. He has served as an adjunct professor teaching Creative Writing and Composition at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, where he also earned his MFA in Creative Writing. Connect with Lee on LinkedIn, Facebook, or Instagram! And make sure you check out his website Narrative 4! About Sarah "Uncovering the right stories for the right audiences so executives, leaders, public speakers, and job seekers can clearly and actively demonstrate their character, values, and vision." In my work with coaching clients, I guide people to improve their communication using storytelling as the foundation of our work together. What I've realized over years of coaching and podcasting is that the majority of people don't realize the impact of the stories they share - on their internal messages, and on the people they're sharing them with. My work with leaders and people who aspire to be leaders follows a similar path to the interviews on my podcast, uncovering pivotal moments in their lives and learning how to share them to connect more authentically with others, to make their presentations and speaking more engaging, to reveal patterns that have kept them stuck or moved them forward, and to improve their relationships at work and at home. The audiobook, Your Stories Don't Define You, How You Tell Them Will is now available! Included with your purchase are two bonus tracks, songs recorded by Sarah's band, Spare Change, in her living room in Montana. Be sure to check out the Storytelling For Professionals Course as well to make sure you nail that next interview!
An inspiring podcast that challenges listeners to embrace hardship and lean into growth for the sake of building character. Overview: In this raw and direct episode, host Glenn Azar argues that the path of least resistance robs us of meaningful growth. He uses stories of athletes and corporate leaders to illustrate how we find our best selves during difficulty, not ease. Azar encourages listeners to identify areas of avoidance in their lives and intentionally choose hardship, even in small ways like an honest conversation. He argues that great character is built through our willingness to persist despite fear and failure. 0:37 - The comforts of modern life can prevent us from true growth 1:58 - People we admire have great character because they embraced hardship3:37 - An athlete lacking mental toughness finally grew by leaning into struggle 5:12 - On a trek, people find strength when they persist despite wanting to quit7:21 - Having hard conversations builds character. Avoidance keeps us stuck.8:34 - Discomfort is the price we pay to become strong and dependable10:12 - Identify where you're avoiding growth opportunities in your life11:34 - CTA: Embrace hardship to build unshakable characterADVENTURE WITH ME ONLINE MINDSET PROGRAMS 1-ON-1 MENTORING See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
We do need more servant leaders on our tiny planet. Human beings who are givers, not takers. Who value contribution above self-glorification. Losing yourself in the service of others is a beautiful formula for becoming happier as we navigate these uncertain times.Starting today — find a crusade. Detect a mighty mission that will consume you, taking your mind and heart off of the messiness that's all around us.Because to lead is to serve. And to help is to prosper. This is what my latest book The Wealth Money Can't Buy is all about. Real wealth versus fake success. In this episode of Do The Work | Mindset Mastery, I take you back to a moment that almost broke me and ended up building me. The truth is, most of what holds us back in business has nothing to do with knowledge or skill. It has everything to do with how we react when we feel exposed. That feeling of not being good enough, smart enough, or ready enough. And in real estate, that happens more often than most of us want to admit. When I first got into REOs during the market crash, I was just trying to survive. I didn't have connections. I didn't know the game. I was just willing to outwork everybody. I'd stay up for hours doing broker price opinions for pennies, hoping it would open a door. And eventually, it did. But at one of my first conferences, I got hit with something that shook me. I was talking to an asset manager when another agent someone local decided to embarrass me in front of him. I didn't know what a “tape” was, and he laughed like it was the dumbest thing in the world. I shrank. I went back to my hotel room that night feeling worthless. And in that moment, I believed what he was trying to make me feel that I didn't belong. What I didn't realize then is that these moments happen to all of us. Whether you're brand new or been in the business ten years, there's always someone trying to assert dominance. Asking “Are you new?” isn't just a question. It's a power move. It's someone trying to put you in your place so they can feel more secure in theirs. But here's what I learned the hard way. That moment of embarrassment became fuel. That agent wanted to establish superiority, but he woke up something in me that would not stop. I became one of the top REO producers in the state. I ended up doing business with that same asset manager he tried to impress. I outgrew that moment. And I outgrew him. Years later, I still see this same dynamic play out with our agents. Newer agents getting shut down by condescending tones. Veteran agents feeling like they should already know everything, so they stop asking questions. That is how growth dies. We don't have to play that game. We don't have to respond on their terms. You don't have to pick up the phone just because someone is calling. You don't have to explain yourself to someone who's trying to corner you. Hold your frame. Stick to the facts. And know that your license is just as powerful as anyone else's no matter how long they've had theirs. When I coach my team, I always bring it back to this: confidence isn't pretending you know everything. It's knowing you'll figure it out. It's showing up anyway. It's staying calm, making your move, and letting your work speak louder than their words ever could. ### Ask Yourself: Have I ever let someone else's comment or tone shrink my confidence or momentum? Am I avoiding situations where I feel exposed instead of using them to grow? What would it look like if I treated every embarrassing moment as a catalyst instead of a setback? ### Notable Quotes: “He didn't realize he woke up a monster.” “You don't have to answer to anyone especially not on their time.” “Your license is just as good as mine, and I've been doing this for 21 years.” Let them talk. Let them posture. And then let your results do the rest. Follow A.Z. Araujo on Social Media: Instagram: @azaraujo Facebook: A.Z. Araujo TikTok: A.Z. In our self-development journey, the only way for one to grow from darkness or negativity, to the light or positivity is through achala (steadiness). Adulting is hard, especially as a relatively new adult, I often find myself caught between juviniele tendencies and being a reponsible adult. I was talking to my therapist about this struggle recently and she suggested gentle parenting myself. Just like kids there are times we don't want to clean our room, pick up after ourselfves, or do our work but as grown ups there are some things that just must be done. When you find yourself trying to get out of things, let yourself off the hook because you just don't want to, or find yourself procrastinating try parenting yourself. In today's episode I go over some parenting strategies you can use on yourself to give yourself a little nudge, and tough love when necessary, to show up and get things done. Was Torri a little skeptical? Maybe! But when we dove in, turns out that after all, Torri IS in fact working on her mindset… Mindset work isn't always journaling, vision boards, or structured routines. Sometimes, it's choosing to stay positive in hard moments. It's having deep conversations, seeking connection, or just getting through the day with intention. In this episode, we talk about what mindset work really looks like, how to stay in a good headspace even when life gets messy, and why you might already be doing more mental work than you give yourself credit for. Whether you're deep in personal growth or just trying to feel more grounded, this one's for you. When hardship hits most people instinctively react with “what will happen to me? My family? My stock?” Our first instinct is to pull in, protect, and preserve our domains. It's human nature. However, if we act only upon this line of thinking we end up following fear down an extremely narrow street, setting limitations on our lives.Instead, use “The WTOH Question” and ask what's the opportunity here? Author and podcast host Ronit Plank, author of “Home is a Made-Up Place” and “When She Comes Back”, talks about her mom who left six year old Ronit and her four year old sister to move to India and follow guru Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, the center of Netflix documentary “Wild Wild Country”. In this incredible story of personal development, Ronit shares how she forgave her mother and created a strong relationship with her. We learn that while most people don't change, some do; that the way people treat you shows who they are - not who you are; the importance of expressing feelings in a vulnerable and constructive way; and to always use more herbs than the recipe calls for. When we were younger, we thought adulting would mean total freedom—no rules, no curfews, and eating cake for dinner. But in this episode, we unpack what actually comes with adulthood: the responsibilities, the pressure, the mental load, and the surprise realization that not everyone around us “adults” the same way. We talk about how trauma (or lack of it) shapes our ability to manage life, why having a partner who can carry their share of the adulting load matters more than you'd expect, and what it really means to feel “prepared” for adulthood. This episode is part reflection, part therapy session, and part laugh-at-our-past-selves. Tune in and feel a little more seen in your own messy, real-life version of adulting. 390 Good Service Goes Both Ways Anyone who has ever worked in customer service has at some point or another dealt with that one customer. You know the type, the huffy, irritable, “My issues are more important than your wellbeing and rules” that insist and demand everything, while demeaning you in the process. Unfortunately, these people will always exist, however what we can change is how we allow these types of interactions to affect us. In today's episode Sarah Elkins tells the story of one of her own unruly customer moments, as well as how she chose to learn and grow from the experience in order to teach others. Highlights Respect others. Especially those who are in a position of community service. Carrying your work home with you is not healthy for you. When you are rude and nasty to people, no one will be in your corner. Quotes “But then it hit me, I should write a book about customer service. The point would be that good service goes both ways. If you want good customer service try being a good customer first.” “Because it's easier to provide good customer service when you are looking at it from the perspective of the customer.” Dear Listeners it is now your turn, Can you think of a time when you weren't the best customer? When whatever was going on in your life erupted into a situation and you treated someone badly? Did you apologize? Can you think of a time when you had exceptional service? Did you tell the person or their manager? Did you write a rave review? What made the experience memorable? We need kindness around us. You know the old saying that people are fighting battles we know nothing about. And when you're frustrated with a situation it's rarely the fault of the employee in front of you. And most of the time they can't fix it without engaging their supervisor. So start with kindness and develop an advocate for yourself. Let's do our best to bring our best to others. And, as always, thank you for listening.

In this episode of Do The Work | Mindset Mastery I sat with a powerful question: What are your results really telling you about your commitment? Over the past six months, I've watched this organization hit record breaking numbers. It's been our most successful year yet not because the market gave us a break, but because individuals decided to make real, lasting commitments. Not talk. Not hype. But real follow-through. And I've felt it in every part of my life, not just business. I used to chase results thinking it was all about grinding harder. But what I've learned and what I've seen in the agents around me is that your results are never random. They are the byproduct of one thing: your level of commitment. Not your mood. Not your circumstances. Not what your spouse is doing or not doing. Just your commitment. This hit me even more when I got invited to play pickleball with my daughters. I almost said no. It was late, I had to wake up early the next day, and I had a full plate. But I realized something: the invite itself was the win. That invitation is the result of the time I've poured into that relationship. The way they love and respect me is not accidental. It's the fruit of showing up over and over again. And that's what this episode is all about. The results you have today in your health, your marriage, your business, your confidence they all come down to one thing: how committed you are and what you're doing about it. You can say you want something, but if your actions don't match up, the fruit doesn't lie. I've watched Carla say no over and over again to things that others give in to. And the result? Everyone wants to know how she looks the way she does. But they don't see the daily discipline. They don't see the Tupperware or the missed meals. That's what commitment looks like in action. I've said it before, and I'll say it again by their fruits, you shall know them. You can say you're committed, but your body, your bank account, your relationships, your business they will all tell the truth. This episode is an invitation to reflect. To take inventory. Because there's no success without sacrifice. And the gap between where you are and where you want to be? That's called work. Not just any work. The work. The intentional, consistent, focused kind that most people avoid because it forces them to face themselves. But that's the work I've chosen. That's what's created the results you see today. And the best part? You can do it too. But it starts with a decision. And then it moves with execution. Every day. Whether you feel like it or not. So what are you going to do about it? ### Reader Reflection Questions: Where in your life are you saying you're committed, but your results say otherwise? What decisions have you been avoiding that, if made today, would begin transforming your outcomes? How would your life change if you approached your relationships, business, and health with the same intensity and focus you say you want your results to reflect? ### Notable Quotes: “Show me your results and I'll show you your commitment.” “The win wasn't playing pickleball. The win was getting invited.” “By their fruits, you shall know them.” Let's go. Let's do the work. Follow A.Z. Araujo on Social Media: Instagram: @azaraujo Facebook: A.Z. Araujo TikTok: A.Z. Effective Strategies and Tips Stress is an inevitable part of life, but how we manage it can make all the difference in our overall health and well-being. Chronic stress can lead to a range of health issues, from anxiety and depression to heart disease and weakened immunity. By mastering stress, we can enhance our quality of life, improve our physical and mental health, and foster a more positive outlook. Here are some effective strategies and tips to help you manage stress and lead a healthier life. 1. Identify Your Stressors The first step in managing stress is to identify what triggers it. Keep a stress journal to track situations, events, or people that cause you stress. Note your reactions and any patterns that emerge. Understanding your stressors helps you develop strategies to avoid or mitigate them. 2. Practice Mindfulness and Meditation Mindfulness and meditation are powerful tools for reducing stress. These practices help you stay present, focus on your breath, and cultivate a sense of calm. Even just a few minutes of daily meditation can significantly lower stress levels and improve emotional regulation. 3. Exercise Regularly Physical activity is one of the most effective ways to combat stress. Exercise releases endorphins, which are natural mood lifters. Whether it's a brisk walk, a yoga session, or a workout at the gym, regular exercise can help reduce stress, improve sleep, and boost overall health. 4. Maintain a Healthy Diet What you eat can affect your stress levels. A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains provides the nutrients your body needs to function optimally. Avoid excessive caffeine and sugar, which can exacerbate stress and anxiety. 5. Get Enough Sleep Adequate sleep is crucial for stress management. Lack of sleep can increase stress levels and make it harder to cope with everyday challenges. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep per night. Establish a bedtime routine, create a comfortable sleep environment, and avoid screens before bed to improve sleep quality. 6. Learn to Say No Overcommitting yourself can lead to increased stress. Recognize your limits and learn to say no when necessary. Prioritize your tasks and delegate when possible. Setting boundaries helps you manage your time and energy more effectively. 7. Connect with Others Social support is vital for stress management. Spend time with family and friends, join a support group, or engage in community activities. Talking about your stressors with someone you trust can provide relief and new perspectives. 8. Practice Relaxation Techniques Incorporate relaxation techniques into your daily routine to manage stress. Deep breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation, and visualization can help you relax and reduce stress. Find what works best for you and make it a regular practice. 9. Manage Your Time Effectively Time management is key to reducing stress. Plan your day, set realistic goals, and prioritize tasks. Break larger tasks into smaller, manageable steps and avoid procrastination. Effective time management helps you feel more in control and reduces stress. 10. Seek Professional Help If stress becomes overwhelming, don't hesitate to seek professional help. A therapist or counselor can provide support and teach coping strategies. Sometimes, just talking to a professional can provide relief and help you develop a plan to manage stress. Mastering stress is essential for leading a healthier, happier life. By identifying your stressors, practicing mindfulness, exercising regularly, maintaining a healthy diet, getting enough sleep, learning to say no, connecting with others, practicing relaxation techniques, managing your time effectively, and seeking professional help when needed, you can reduce stress and improve your overall well-being. Remember, managing stress is a continuous process, and finding what works best for you is key to achieving lasting peace and balance.

Authenticity is a word that gets thrown around a lot today and I think it's because we recognize that it's rare in today's day and age. With social media being a curated highlight reel, societal pressures, people pleasing habits, fear of rejection or not fitting in, it's easy to lose touch with our authentic selves. In today's episode I talk about daily, small habits you can implement to come home to yourself on a daily basis. Because being authentic isn't a one time journey to find yourself, you were never lost, you just got drowned out by all the noise. By implementing these daily practices you will learn to listen to that still small voice that is uniquely your, get in touch with your intuition, and learn to listen to your body when it's subconciously trying to tell you something. True confidence isn't fueled by being better than others. It's rooted in being faithful to your own personal path. And yet, the brain is naturally wired for comparison. Social Comparison Theory, pioneered by psychologist Leon Festinger, reveals that humans instinctively evaluate themselves against others to understand their worth. The key is not to eliminate comparison completely — that's impossible. The mission is to transform it: from a force that diminishes you to one that reminds you of your uniqueness, your sovereignty, your inner wholeness. Here's the deeper insight: You are not behind. You are not late. You are not missing anything. Your journey is unfolding with exquisite precision — training you, strengthening you, preparing you for glories, bravery and fortune that you cannot yet see. The masters of life don't sprint faster on someone else's race track — they walk slowly, bravely, joyfully, on their own. They run their own race. This is what my latest book The Wealth Money Can't Buy is all about. Real wealth versus fake success. True winning versus spending your life climbing a mountain, only to find out at the end that it was the wrong one. 389 Identifying and Acting On Problems You Can Solve We are surrounded by problems everyday of our lives, some manageable and others seeming too monumental to handle alone. Which is why it is so important to build a community of like minded individuals with the same goal of making a true difference. In today's episode Sarah Elkins and Tessa Clarke discuss the relationship people have with stuff, food waste, and how Tessa's company Olio have been making a real difference in the face of the climate crisis. Highlights Our relationship with objects, like clothing, that shape our identity. What do you waste without realizing? How much do you think you throw away in a week? A month? And a year? We all need someone in our corner to help build us up and to help chart a path forward. Building community while also solving problems. Quit wishing things would be better and start making the change yourself. Quotes “We always think the grass is greener on the other side but it never is.” “What's good for the planet is good for people and vice versa.” “It is honestly exhausting being a founder, trying to drive the change in a world that's set up not to change. So you've got to find ways to reenergize yourself and to keep going, to keep fighting every single day.” Dear Listeners it is now your turn, When you think about those 4 to 5 years that Tessa talked about and that journey of wanting to be entrepreneurial and thinking about it in terms of “what is the problem I can solve?” What is something you could start today, maybe it eventually becomes a side hustle, maybe the side hustle stays a side hustle, or maybe it turns into something more. What is a problem that you've experienced, that maybe you're the person to solve? And, as always, thank you for listening. About Tessa Tessa Clarke is the co-founder and CEO of Olio, the world's only neighbour-to-neighbour food-sharing app, and a trailblazing force in the fight against waste. Since launching in 2015 - and as a remote first business - Olio has grown into a global movement with 8 million users, redistributing over 100 million meals and 14 million household items, proving that small actions can drive massive change. Recognised as Veuve Clicquot's Bold Woman of the Year in 2023, Tessa is also a Sifted columnist, an Ambassador for the Better Business Act, and a member of the Small Business Growth Forum, advising the UK Government on SME concerns. With a track record of disrupting industry and mobilising communities, Tessa is a passionate speaker who inspires audiences to rethink business, sustainability, and the power of grassroots innovation. Check out Tessa's LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram! As well as her website Olio, and her TED Talk!

One of the best ways to be attractive to women is to act like the kind of man you'd want your daughter to marry. If you wouldn't let your own daughter date someone like you, how can you expect a high-quality woman to take you seriously? Today's episode covers the behaviors and personality traits that the ideal man would embody — and you should be working on these too if you want to attract the woman of your dreams.
