Missy Knott resides in Nogojiwanong/Peterborough and is a member of Curve Lake First Nation. She is a singer-songwriter who has released 4 collections of music, and in 2017 her album “My Sister’s Heart” was nominated for Producer of the Year at the Indigenous Music Awards, the same album that landed her a spot on the Havelock Country Jamboree 2017 stage. In 2018-19, Missy was the Afternoon Drive Host for ELMNT FM in Ottawa, Ontario, the First Peoples’ Radio of Aboriginal People’s Television Network. Every time she earns a new opportunity for herself, she reinvests her energy into helping young artists and the youth of her community to find direction and fulfillment through following their dreams. She has created “Stars of Tomorrow”, a showcase for youth artists and co-founded Randy Rock N Rolls for CF, an organization that has raised over $40,000 for Cystic Fibrosis. She co-founded and helped to coordinate the Gathering for Youth of Nogojiwanong, an educational gathering for elementary students giving them an opportunity to learn about Indigenous cultures and engage in different arts, and she travels across Turtle Island and Europe to record, perform, and network with other Indigenous recording artists and community leaders. Missy is always focused on finding ways to share her contacts and skills with her community in Nogojiwanong/Peterborough and Curve Lake First Nation. A proud mother of four year old Lyrik, an aunt to three young nephews, and a sister to seven siblings, Missy is keeping busy this holiday season with promise of a new release in 2020, the first off the new label, "Wild Rice Records".
