TALK TO ME, TEXT ITHeadlines said Olympic medals were breaking, and that was all it took to spark jokes and outrage. We looked closer. The real story is a safety-minded breakaway clasp designed to prevent strangulation, a trade-off that makes sense once you know it exists. When organizers bury the explanation, people assume failure instead of intent, and a protective feature becomes a viral punchline. From there we turn to a sobering cautionary tale: a food influencer who reportedly died after eating a toxic “devil crab.” We unpack how reef species can harbor lethal neurotoxins like saxitoxin and tetrodotoxin, why cooking doesn't neutralize every threat, and how the chase for novelty online can outpace basic risk checks. This isn't about scolding curiosity—it's about understanding biology's hard lines and why identification, local expertise, and skepticism save lives. We close with hope and a wagging tail. A collie mix caught the attention of Louisville officers and led them straight to a missing three-year-old locked inside a car. The dog's persistence, paired with calm, practical coaching from police, turned a terrifying moment into a reunion. It's a reminder that instincts—human and animal—can bridge critical minutes when it matters most.Throughout, we thread a common theme: risk, design, and communication. Whether it's an engineered clasp, a dangerous delicacy, or an urgent search, outcomes depend on how well we explain intent, respect limits, and listen for signals that cut through the noise. If this mix of myth-busting, safety insight, and a true rescue story resonates with you, follow along, share the episode with a friend, and leave a quick review so others can find it. Tread Perilously's TV Movie month continues with Deadly Intentions ... Again? After serving time for the attempted murder of his first wife, Dr. Charles Raynor returns to the loving embrace of his second wife, Sally. She has a plan to get him back into the workforce and see his medical license restored. Raynor has other plans -- finishing off his first wife and the federal prosecutor who put him behind bars. Will he be able to do so without the second Mrs. Raynor finding out? Also, what of his own adoptive mother, who hates Sally for baffling class reasons? Will Sally come to her senses and see Raynor has deadly intentions ... again? Erik and Justin try to figure out what happened to Fairuza Balk's character. They also try to glean the plot of the original Deadly Intentions. The cast -- which includes Harry Hamlin, Joanna Kerns, Conchata Ferrell, and Balk -- prove to be great even if the script lets them down. Erik tries to determine how much of the film is truly based on actual events. A current year appraisal makes a certain subplot far more troubling than the film intends. Erik suggests first-time filmmakers should make thrillers instead of horror movies and Justin reveals an important truth about The Traitors.

What happens when spiritual beliefs are used to justify harm against children in the United States? In this episode, Josh Hutchinson, Sarah Jack, and guest host Mary Bingham explore Spiritual and Ritual Abuse, known as SARA, and why it remains a largely unrecognized crisis in American communities. The story this week is from South Wales and is as shocking a story as I have ever brought to you on the UK True Crime Podcast. It is hard to comprehend that in the small town of Maesteg, lived a man with an obsession for the crimes of Fred & Rose West and fantasised about travelling the county abducting, assaulting and murdering innocent women. I'm driving just east of Wendover, Nevada near the Bonneville Salt Flats. Two days on the road through wide-open country that has swallowed lives and truths. I'm starting near where Dylan Rounds was murdered and now making my way into West Wendover, where 16-year-old Micaela “Mickey” Costanzo disappeared after track practice. She was later found in a shallow grave out on the outskirts of town. It's a place where people think the area's too small for something like this. The story ultimately destroyed three families. She was murdered by her childhood friend and his new lover, and the case still leaves people arguing about motive, control, jealousy, and what “the truth” really is. Both convicted killers are still telling different stories. #ProfilingEvil #TrueCrime #Nevada #Utah #Wendover #WestWendover #BonnevilleSaltFlats #WendoverWill #MicaelaCostanzo #MickeyCostanzo #KodyPatten #ToniFratto #ElkoCounty #GravelPits #TeenMurder #DylanRounds #JamesBrenner #ElyNevada #PaulJohnKnowles #EmmettAlexanderJohnson #LoisMildredJohnson #Tonopah #OldTonopahCemetery #ClownMotel #HighDesert #ColdCaseFiles #MissingPerson #JusticeForMicaela========================================https://gamutpodcasts.com/show/gardensofevilinsidethezionsocietycult/========================================20% OFF Newspapers.comhttps://www.newspapers.com/go/podcast/?ref=profilingevil?xid=8877&utm_source=ProfilingEvilPodcast&utm_medium=podcst&utm_campaign=ProfilingEvil26========================================Email your questions to: ProfilingEvil@gmail.com========================================

New financial data indicates the freight market may finally be flipping as shippers pay significantly more to move the same volume of goods. This shift in pricing power is creating a painful squeeze for brokers like RXO, who saw their margins crushed to just 1.2% this quarter. The pressure is also forcing legitimate capacity out of the market, with recent Chapter 11 filings from Quickway Transportation and Robert Bearden Trucking removing hundreds of drivers from the road. While honest fleets fold, a deadly chameleon carrier network has been exposed for dodging regulations and operating dangerous equipment under multiple identities. Regulators are attempting to close safety loopholes, including a review of foreign trucker commercial driver's licenses currently pending at the OMB. Amidst the chaos, innovation offers some relief, as Truck Parking Club hits a major milestone in unlocking safe spaces for drivers to rest. For the past year, expanded federal immigration enforcement – and two fatal shootings of protesters by federal agents in Minnesota – have sent ripples of anxiety throughout the country. While the St. Louis area hasn't seen the kind of large-scale enforcement actions that have occurred elsewhere, local community leaders, educators and small-business owners say fear and misinformation are shaping daily life. STLPR journalists Brian Munoz and Hiba Ahmad discuss their reporting on this topic.
This episode begins by uncovering a tragic collision in Indiana that exposed a network of "chameleon carriers" hiding in plain sight. We explore how these operators dodge safety regulations by constantly shapeshifting their corporate identities to evade federal oversight. Next, we examine the financial landscape as Old Dominion Freight Line prepares for a potential market recovery in 2026. Their leadership believes the stars are finally aligning for an uptick in manufacturing and freight volumes later this year. The conversation then turns to a massive legal blow against Sysco, where a jury awarded $52 million to drivers who faced retaliation for reporting safety issues. This verdict highlights the severe cost of ignoring whistleblower complaints regarding hazardous working conditions and regulatory violations. Finally, we look at rising geopolitical tensions as a Chinese operator fights to retain control over critical ports at the Panama Canal. This arbitration filing introduces new uncertainty into a vital global trade chokepoint that could impact East Coast shipping volumes. Retired FBI agent and criminal profiler Candice DeLong examines the disturbing case of Donna Adelson, a domineering and deeply enmeshed mother whose obsessive need for control allegedly culminated in the murder-for-hire of her former son-in-law, Florida State University law professor Dan Markel. What began as a bitter custody dispute following Markel's divorce from Adelson's daughter, Wendi, escalated into a years-long campaign of manipulation, psychological warfare, and resentment fueled by Donna's refusal to accept court-imposed boundaries. Candice explores how enmeshment, entitlement, and an intolerance for loss of control can distort family dynamics; and how a grandmother's fixation on access and dominance ultimately led prosecutors to accuse her of orchestrating a deadly conspiracy that shattered an entire family.Be the first to know about Wondery's newest podcasts, curated recommendations, and more!
