Welcome to my public therapy session! Its the end of the world!....unless we continue to have bigger and bigger open-minded conversations about the ways in which society operates and how it effects us. I'll get into capitalism, fatphobia and all the other -isms and -phobias that I believe are hindering us from moving forward collectively. Let the communal healing begin!
Its the finale of season 2. Wow! We had to go out with a bang and bring in a returning guest as the ONLY special guest of the entire season. Jet Place joins Skxnni and Tee to discuss a hot topic that we went over in season 1. Good ole misogyny. There were so many points we didn't get to hit when we covered this topic in the first season so we had to run it back! Thank you all s0 much for listening and your support
I mean lets face it, the drugs have won. The war on drugs has done nothing but add fuel to a class & race war. People doing drugs are inevitable and addiction does not discriminate. But what we can do is provide more education and resources in case of overdoses, what they call "bad trips", or possible mental health conditions that arise from drug use.
So this topic isn't discussed as frequently as some of our previous topics but because its so normalized, Skxnni and I had to get into it. Admiring people and finding inspiration in people/celebrities is okay, idolizing is not. So be yourself baby! Idolization is killing your creativity!
The one thing that everyone will have to do one day,,, is die. It tends to be a taboo topic amongst most people but why be afraid to discuss something that we know we will have to experience eventually. Death can be grim or beautiful, depending on your perception. In this episode we explore the wide range of emotions death can trigger for people.
Of course we had to get into the governing of people's bodies with the overturn of Roe v Wade.... in 2023.... Truly unbelievable. Skxnni and I dive all the way in as we discuss the history of abortion and contraception laws, and how we got to where we are today.
This week's episode is a bit special. Skxnni and I went on a road trip to Illinois with a friend to attend Dual Power Gathering. Essentially it was a hundred or so attendees, from all over the US and a few who traveled internationally, who were all anti-capitalist and/or pro-people. It was the first of its kind for me and Skxnni so we took time to reflect on our experiences.
On this weeks episode, Skxnni and I get into the art of being more self aware. Being able to reflect, detect patterns, take accountability, and work on yourself from there is a skill. Moving with intention is something everyone should strive for. For themselves and their community!
Skxnni and I clearly had some things to get off our chest with this one! We get into all the different aspects of relationships. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Romantic or platonic.
Oh boy. This one can be a bit controversial. On this episode, Skxnni and I dive into why legitimate gun control is a necessity. We see the results of our lack of gun control damn near every day. Do we need to get rid of guns? Enforce stricter limitations? Limit who has access? Lets get into it!
We're baaaaaaack! Thank you all SO much for your patience while we took time to record season 2 while staying on top of our own mental health! We figured it was only right for our first episode to discuss such a topic. If you haven't personally dealt with any mental health issues, I guarantee you someone close to you has. Whether you know it or not. This topic has historically been taboo, especially in the black community. But here we are doing our small part in changing that.
Closing out season 1 of "Its the End of the World! Unless..."!!! Skxnni. DabDaddyDon, and I discuss the overall implications of capitalism. Touching a bit on everything we've discussed throughout this season, while also posing and answering the question, "why are we not collectively moving towards self-sustainability much faster?" We took another good little break but we are back! Going over one of the final components that primarily fuel capitalism, classism! If nothing else, the pandemic should've shown everyone how close majority of Americans are to poverty. 90% of us are one missed paycheck, a hospital bill, or an occurrence of any random unfortunate event, away from facing homelessness. The gap between the "upper class" and the "lower class" is decreasing and at a rapid pace. But when you think about it, what else is there to expect from this capitalist fueled, economy?Have any opinions on this topic or any of the others we've talked about? Friendsssss!!!!!! We took a bit of a break but WE BACK! Skxnni, Domo, and myself get into religion. We tend to take our beliefs on as our identities. With this, it makes it a lot more difficult to have open minded conversations about religion without someone getting offended. We have to let go of these barriers in order to further unify. Separate yourself from your religions and beliefs and talk to each other. More love. Have any opinions on this topic or any of the others we've talked about? WHEW! Open your minds and notebooks cause, CLASS IS IN SESSION! We got back into homophobia & transphobia but this time, including more representation from the queer community and the trans community. Skxnni and I got to voice our opinions last episode but its very important that you allow people the space for their voices to be heard instead of trying to speak for them. Listen to Sunnie and Kev provide a thought provoking discussion about living in and around the queer and trans community. In conclusion, listen more. More self-awareness. More love.Have any opinions on this topic or any of the others we've talked about? HAPPY PRIDE MONTH!!!!! Skxnni, our special guest Domo, and I talk about how detrimental homophobia & transphobia is to our communities. Why does seeing freedom in other people make some people so angry? To the point of violence?! People are dying for being themselves. This is a conversation we have to maintain. ESPECIALLY, in black communities. Say it loudly and proudly. Queer lives matter! Trans lives matter! Black trans lives matter!!! Back at it again with trying to dismantle oppressive systems! One conversation at a time. This week we're getting into patriarchy and misogyny. They're individual dynamics but both are fuel to each others fire. My co-host Skxnni, our special guest Jet Plane, and myself dive into the many ways misogyny runs rampant in our patriarchal society. We also propose a few ideas on how to counteract it in your personal life. Say it with me: accountability!! Have any opinions on this topic or any of the others we've talked about? The good ole military. People who are willing to sacrifice their lives for the good of our country.... On this episode Skxnni, Dab Daddy Don, and I get into how we obtain and maintain our military, their purpose(s), the positives, and many many negatives. We believe that some form of military is necessary but the military as we currently know it, we argue, is much more harmful than it is productive. To others and our own people. Reform is WAYYYY overdue!Come join our Facebook group where we will have open discussions on all of the topics we discuss on Its the EOTW! Unless... Whether you agree or disagree, we want to hear from you! It takes a community to make necessary changes. Lets start healing. https://www.facebook.com/groups/310449173776133Host: Tee (liberatedspir1t on Twitter)Co-Host: Skxnni (skxnninvrskinny on Twitter)Special Guest: Dab Daddy Don (dabdaddydon & notnovagawd on IG)
Whew... What a topic. A very special guest chimes in on this week's episode as we get into the history of police & prisons, how they might be beneficial yet are definitely harmful in today's society, and what reforms can be put in place to make these systems even more effective...if that's even possible. Don't forget to join the Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/310449173776133 so we can exchange ideas and perspectives!Host: Tee (liberatedspir1t on Twitter)Special Guest: Dab Daddy Don (dabdaddydon & notnovagawd on IG)
Myself and my new co-host, Skxnni, dive into the many different aspects and effects of racism on society and its people, in the past and currently. This tends to be a subject that gains traction for a bit because of an unfortunate event occurring and then it dying down. Black bodies, black trauma, black pain is NOT a trend. It is NOT entertainment. We have to continue having these conversations even when the police aren't on trial for the many murders they have committed. If we don't, we will forever be saying names and there will continue to be a new one every day.
