Hosted by Gabby Fox. Founder of Anxiously Human, a societal anxiety platform built around community, not therapy. Brutally honest life lessons & sarcasm to get through everyday problems. Interviews, collabs, and anecdotes will be plentiful. Philosophy, laughter, and inappropriate storytelling. Bitch…
In this episode of Mentalish, author of Unstoppable Ben Angel and I discuss bio hacking and how our physiology can affect our mental state and psychological healing. Probably my favorite episode yet!! This book changed my life and this podcast episode will give listeners so much to think about. Enjoy.
Imagine someone completely submerged in science and practicality, who had very little faith that God or an afterlife existed. And then he has one of the most intense near death experiences in history. This is Dr. Eben Alexander. After reading his book many years ago and it having such a huge impact on me, I have recommended this book to everyone I know. Proof of heaven and map of heaven, the two books he wrote about his journey, our earth shattering. Being able to speak to him and interview him was a dream come true. I hope one day I get to meet him, and I hope you guys will tune in and check out his journey as well through his books. Amazing human for sure, and his partner Karen has a company called Sacred Acoustics which has been known to help people that are suffering from trauma and mental health issues. This episode is unlike any I’ve had so far. My inner intellectual nerd is fully enlightened. Enjoy.
Unless you live under a rock, you know the headlines lately have been pretty crazy. Strict, conservative abortion laws... internet censorship, media bias... the list goes on. This is my take on all of this shit, and how it affects how we as humans FEEL. Open up the conversation and let me hear your thoughts and opinions via email, Anchor message, or on my social media. Let’s have some healthy debates and conversations about the events happening in the world and how it affects our mental!
I hope you’re ready because this episode is pretty damn heavy. If you are someone who came from a broken home or you know someone from a broken home, you NEED to listen to this episode. Based on personal experience, this is something that not only touches close to home, but that I know a great deal about. Our childhood shapes what kind of adult we become and what kind of impact we leave on the world around us. Give a listen and let me know your thoughts or how this information affected you. xo...G.
We’ve all been there. We love someone so much that we tolerate mistreatment, bullshit and different forms of abuse. Unfortunately, most of the information out there is vague and just tells you to love yourself blah blah blah. Fortunately for you, that shit doesn’t fly with me and I wanted to give practical advice on where to begin. This is an important episode for anyone who has been trying to heal after a painful exchange or breakup. Much love, hope this helps. xo
I throw a little science, a little politics, and a some big tech critiquing in this weeks episode! What goes on in the world affects our mental state BIG TIME. Stress, worry, fear, anger, animosity... and who knows what’s real anymore. I talk about some shit on my mind that’s happening on this beautiful disaster we call Earth. Enjoy. xo
Are you sick of the generic vague advice? I think everyone is. Self-proclaimed gurus and life coaches do not give you actual tools to help you cultivate self-love. Many claim that self love is the key to happiness and lack of it is the core of many of the problems we have in our life, but very few tell you how to achieve this. I’m not just gonna tell you learn how to love yourself, I’m gonna tell you exactly how to do it. I use the Core Four* as a foundation to finding self-love. We didn’t get fkd up and not love ourselves overnight, so it takes real actionable tools to get back to it. Enjoy. xo
In this episode I go full animal mode. We can learn a lot of animals and I think our social habits are sometimes not so different. I talk about attracting the right pack or tribe, and how to avoid connecting with shitty packs. Learn how to control your subconscious conditioning so you are vibing with the right wolves. The current events portion -NewsFlash-highlights talk shows potential impact & negativity, and of course a little political talk on March of Life & Abortion. Juicy stuff. Enjoy xo.
Ooof. Yea this is a tough one. Tune in to hear my two cents on this subject, based on experience and learned information. Honestly it’s one of the toughest questions to date, but I think I answered in the best way possible. Two segments make up this episode! The topic andddd NewsFlash, the current events smorgasbord of what’s goin’ on and of course my delightfully bitchy, insightful take on it all. Enjoy. xo
New Year New Me? (Yawn, eyeroll) Don’t be one of those people. The one who talks a big game and then fizzles out after a month. This short sweet little guide will give you some insight on how not to f*ck up your New Year goals. Failure to plan is planning to fail! (Someone really smart said that once) So here’s my two cents on how to navigate all this Resolution shit... enjoy. xo
Feel like you’re stuck in a hamster wheel of mediocrity? Find yourself complaining a lot or feeling helpless? Making excuses for why your life isn’t what you want? Join the club. Most people are on this merry go round of self sabotage and lies, so I created a simple system to help get out of your own way. Actionable, not philosophical. Have a listen if you’re ready to stop bullshitting yourself. xo
Simple, direct self-reflection episode. I’m challenging myself and you...if you’ve been living the same year over and over again, STOP. There’s no reason to continue that’s just madness. Always here to listen and give feedback. Enjoy. Xo
We have all been there: that horrible place when you find out the person you love the most has betrayed you. Infidelity is unfortunately very common. Although infidelity rarely has anything to do with the victim, it can leave you completely devastated. Weak egos, selfishness, and lack of both self-respect and respect for others is the common thread. I asked a friend of mine to talk about her story because it is a cheating situation that far exceeds the typical storyline. Take a listen, but buckle up.
In this episode, I talk about finding your way again when you’ve gotten distracted or caught up in life‘s many energy vampires. Sometimes it can be people, sometimes it can be situations, sometimes it can be our own self sabotage. I include three easy tips to help you get back to doing you and finding your peace. xo
Ah the holidays. We love them because of the holiday cheer, gifts and obviously the food. But there is also a ton of stress that comes with the holiday season. In this episode, I give you some of my own tips as well as some I found in helpful articles. I’ll get you through this shit, and you might even have bells on at the end. Xo
How to change your inner voice and get in touch with your inner child. The original you before everyone else clouded your mind with their insecurities, negativity, and judgment. Basically how to tell those misplaced inner voices to fk off. Plus, Kevin talks about his journey with hypnotherapy and his coaching program Quest. XO
Being practical and realistic are my specialities, at least when it comes to advice. Bunch of gems of sarcastic wisdom were dropped this episode. Feel free to give me your two cents after you take a listen. XO
20 min of some information-packed hard af truths. We might not admit we are poisoning ourselves to have a good time, to be social, to be “fun”... but I have news for you buttercup: buck up. You’re killing yourself slowly you beautiful creature... let’s talk about it ok? XO
The temporary warm fuzzy feeling from inspirational motivational quotes wears off. Check out why and how to find true long-lasting ish to keep you going. Also, disclaimer, I cannot pronunciate intrinsic and extrinsic. Smh. Outro with some News Flash for your listening pleasure. XO
I get super real in this episode about my vision and why I think anxiety is literally the undercurrent of every emotional and mental issue on the planet. Being a human being means going through struggles and sometimes those struggles lead us to unhealthy coping mechanisms and rewiring our brain to be anxious. I talk about how I want to build a community around just being human and sometimes not knowing what to do with all the anxiousness. XO
As a person whose mind is like a wild jackrabbit... this is a subject I definitely can sympathize with. I know your brain is annoying sometimes and you just want good rest. Tired all the time but you “sleep a lot”? That’s because you’re not getting ACTUAL rest. Here I give you some non-substance related tips on how to finesse into some quality zzz’s. Xo
Jake and I talk becoming an author, staying positive through life‘s struggles, and how two people from completely different worlds can end up connecting for the greater good.
This subject is so near to my heart, you can probably hear it in my voice. Although not yet a parent, I experienced a variety of parental experiences as a child. I think it gave me a unique perspective as well as a yearning to learn and educate myself on the subject. Hope you enjoy and I’d love to hear feedback :)
This is the longest episode to date! Just a fire conversation about staying authentic in a world of regurgitated content and information. Awesome flow and content!
No clue what you’re doing when it comes to meditation? Or why you should be doing it? Jen has been in the Yoga/Meditation space for over 13 years. She gives clarity while bringing a faith-based aspect into the mix. Check out our challenge at the end!
What’s going on in my world, what I hope to give back, and upcoming content. Reciprocity is the game. Reach out and let’s talk life.
Case talks about his journey and what he’s built. And then we go off on a fire conversation about life, happiness, and why everyone should just create and “do you”.
I give my brief dating history, go through some listener questions, and talk about how to not be a slut... but still have fun. Xo
So I break down the correlation of alcohol and anxiety, discuss how to naturally deal with stress, and finish up with a bit of current event drama and my 2 cents. Feedback is most welcome. Xo
Sara tells her painful but inspiring story and journey. Navigating her vulnerability and coming out happy and healthy. Dope listen.
Staying motivated, using your advantages, going with your gut, and being relentless. Phew. This is a goodie.
My two cents on the professional therapy world, why I do what I do, and some political & pop culture vibes. Enjoy loves.
Friend of mine who beat the odds and has been sober for 2 years. Her road to recovery... long distance interview, bit of static but tons of great content.
Candid solo adventure about the voice in our head that never shuts up. Manage your conscious voice, change the game.
My sister Anett, formerly my brother Adam, walks us through part of her journey. We talk family, friends, sex, and everything in between. My longest and most favorite episode so far!!
The roles our exes play in our life and how friendship is the basis and should be preserved. New segment added as well, NewsFlash: Blackface & Bullies, Kim/Drake Affair Rumor, and the Nike/Kapernick debate.
You asked, we answered. Our first q&a... pretty fun. Next one id like to get more nitty gritty though...
Why bein socially acceptable is bullshit... there's 1000 different social circles and if yours sucks, change it.
Why others approval and following the rest of the sheeple is bullshit. Courage is king.
Discussing one of my fave topics, and one I think many people lack in relationships. Listen and share, and love to hear your thoughts on social as well. Xo
Flying solo on this one, missing my partner in crime. Delving into how to be you, and love the jerk you are.
We decided to try something and not pick a set topic and WE LOVED IT. More au naturale... let us know your thoughts ;)
Why we think being slutty is dumb, and why some people just live to argue. Hmm...
