In this episode, I was lucky enough to interview Joshua Davidson, CEO and founder of Chop Dawg.Growing up just outside of Atlantic City during the Great Recession, Josh saw firsthand how fragile traditional industries could be. Watching friends' families lose homes and his father work multiple jobs gave him a survival instinct and a drive to create opportunities for himself. By the time he was a teenager, Josh was building websites door-to-door and helping small businesses grow, even in the middle of an economic downturn. That early tenacity and optimism became the foundation of what would evolve into Chop Dawg.Over 17 years later, Chop Dawg has grown from building websites for local businesses to developing complex apps and software for Fortune 500 companies, healthcare systems, universities, and household names like Wawa, Six Flags, and the Philadelphia Eagles. Josh shares how staying true to unconventional branding choices, leveraging repeat business and referrals, and being an early adopter of trends like generative search (GEO) have kept his company ahead of the curve. Through it all, his focus has remained on understanding clients deeply, building genuine partnerships, and refusing to play catch-up with competitors—choosing instead to set the pace in his industry.Be inspired by Joshua Davidson's path from teenage hustler to leading Chop Dawg's global impact in this episode of The First Customer!Guest Info:Chop Dawghttps://www.chopdawg.comJoshua Davidson's LinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/dasjoshua/Connect with Jay on LinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/jayaigner/The First Customer Youtube Channelhttps://www.youtube.com/@thefirstcustomerpodcastThe First Customer podcast websitehttps://www.firstcustomerpodcast.comFollow The First Customer on LinkedInhttp://www.linkedin.com/company/the-first-customer-podcast/

Mike and Ovie talk about how they need to avoid another loss like last week's at all costs and they have the steps the falcons need to take in order to do so. They want to see the leashes come off the falcons edge rushers and really get after whichever QB the Commanders send out there (Jayden Daniels is Questionable). In this episode of Inside the Lines, Curt Conrad and Effie James are joined by Shelby senior Carter Kessler, who transferred last school year from Mansfield Senior. Carter talks about the thrill of attending Ohio State’s night game against Ohio University, what it’s like to stand in front of 105,000 fans and weighing options like walking on at OSU versus committing to a school like West Virginia. He shares the reasons behind his transfer, how he was welcomed into the Shelby brotherhood and the challenges of learning a new offense and defense while fitting into a top-ranked program. Carter also reflects on playing alongside one of the state’s best athletes, Brayden DeVito, and how he’s growing as a leader while helping Shelby maintain its 17-game regular-season win streak. He discusses his favorite positions, modeling his game after standout edge rushers and what he brings to the team on and off the field. The episode wraps up with rapid-fire questions covering everything from Shelby vs. Mansfield Senior "this or that" to college goals and how he spends time off the field. Michael Patino, Founder and CEO of Patino Associates, shares a cautionary tale from a partnership with a large global manufacturing organization. At the time, Michael had successfully placed a senior executive within the company—only to be stunned when, just a month later, the executive was suddenly terminated. Wanting to understand what went wrong, Michael reached out and discovered that the executive had lied about holding a collegiate degree. The issue came to light after the individual repeatedly delayed submitting required documentation. When Michael reviewed the situation internally, he found that although the degree verification process had flagged the discrepancy, it had been overlooked by his assistant during the final review. The experience was both frustrating and eye-opening. It pushed Michael to reevaluate internal workflows and reinforce checks and balances—lessons that now guide how his team handles candidate reviews and verifications. I thought the Super Duty was going to be the answer to my Towing Weight dreams, :) but that is the context of my question really..... I just want a solid answer to the below (rather than dubious answers (ie opinons) from Facebook warriors who don't really KNOW what they're talking about. My question - If the manufacturer confirms a van towball weight of 170kg at a TARE of 2600kg, could it be considered generally safe to tow the vehicle loaded to its ATM of 3300kg, with the towball weight still at 170kg (ie the extra weight evenly distributed across the vans axles)I just want to be clear as Ive seen so many people say Towball mass rule of thumb is 10% of ATM, but of course that (330kg) starts eating into our Disco 4 payload Big Time.......My guess is the answer to the questions is "Yes". But as I said, I really appreciated your honest view and use of the actual physics that determine towing characteristics. Thanks in advance for your help and keep up the good work!

Big-time college football promises prestige, drama, media attention, and money. Yet most athletes in this unpaid, amateur system encounter a different reality, facing dangerous injuries, few pro-career opportunities, a free but devalued college education, and future financial instability. In one of the first ethnographies about Black college football players, anthropologist Dr. Tracie Canada reveals the ways young athletes strategically resist the exploitative systems that structure their everyday lives.Tackling the Everyday shows how college football particularly harms the young Black men who are overrepresented on gridirons across the country. Although coaches and universities constantly invoke the misleading "football family" narrative, this book describes how a brotherhood among Black players operates alongside their caring mothers, who support them on and off the field. With a Black feminist approach—one that highlights often-overlooked voices—Dr. Canada exposes how race, gender, kinship, and care shape the lives of the young athletes who shoulder America's favorite game. Our guest is: Dr. Tracie Canada, who is a socio-cultural anthropologist whose ethnographic research uses sport to theorize race, kinship and care, gender, and the performing body. She is the Andrew W. Mellon Assistant Professor of Cultural Anthropology & Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies at Duke University. She is the founder and director of the HEARTS Lab, and is affiliated with the Duke Sports and Race Project. Her work has been featured in public venues and outlets such as the Museum of Modern Art, The Guardian, and Scientific American. Our host is: Dr. Christina Gessler, who is the creator of the Academic Life podcast. She works as a dissertation and grad student coach, and as a developmental editor for scholars in the humanities and social sciences. She also writes the Academic Life newsletter, found at christinagessler.substack.com.
