Another installment of our interview project: Homosexual Christian? A contradiction in terms to some. Compatable terms for others. See what a gay Christian has to say about it in her own words. In this episode, Kay talks about how her struggle coincided with her coming to Jesus, as well as things she tried to change about herself . She talks openly about her experience with "reparative therapy". We take some questions that listeners emailed us. Relokate would like to thank Kay Adkins for her generous participation in this project. We hope this will stimulate listening on both sides of the issue and more healthy dialouge like this one in the near future. May we all seek the truth and pray the Truth seeks us. Enjoy.

Another installment of our interview project: Homosexual Christian? A contradiction in terms to some. Compatable terms for others. See what a gay Christian has to say about it in her own words. In this episode: Kay talks about her church experience in the Pentecostal/Charismatic tradition: her hurts, people "praying for her", feeling alone in church, and pastors that teach on homosexuality. Chad shares some final thoughts and gives Kay the "last word". Relokate would like to thank Kay Adkins for her generous participation in this project. We hope this will stimulate listening on both sides of the issue and more healthy dialouge like this one in the near future. May we all seek the truth and pray the Truth seeks us. Enjoy.
A short interlude between breaks. the question is raised about the place Jesus has in Kay's life since accepting her sexual orientation/preference. She has her own questions for Christians and the Church.
3 of 3 The Content of Prayer This is one of the biggest barriers that keeps people from devoting themselves to prayer: "what do i pray?", and in this class we tackle that barrier head on. In this class we look at three intercessory prayers of Paul to find out what our priorities should be when we are praying for others. One of the ways our prayers become more useful and fervent is to pray what is in line with the will of God. We discuss what the "will of God" is according to Scripture and how we can reorder the priorities of what we ask Him for in our prayer life. There is much to unpacked in these three short but powerfully instructive prayers of the Apostle Paul.
1 of 3 "Theology of Prayer" We sat a hot microphone down in the middle of the class and hit Record. Enjoy the laughs, side comments, and cell phone interruptions as you listen in to this class. this is the first day of our study on prayer. we cover the "theology of prayer" or why we pray. We discuss the nature/attributes of God and a good portion of the class is devoted to two fundamental truths of prayer that are assumed before we ever pray: 1. God is sovereign and is in control of all things 2. Humans are morally responsible creatures. resolving these two seemingly paradoxical truths is critical to praying properly and healthily.
2 of 3 "The Method of Prayer" in this class we discuss how we actually go about praying. We limit our study to one type of prayer: Intercessory Prayer. Through Scripture we find a much different model for praying than what is commonly taught/modeled in western society. Prayer is more communal than most of us realize. Prayer is verbal and not just a mental act/emotion. Prayer is to be done in love and as an act of love. Prayer is to be done with faith. We touch on the importance of maturing in our prayer life, praying in tounges, the primacy of the body over the individual in prayer, and the role of faith. there is periods of question and answer in this episode so there are "empty" places on the recording. feel free to skip forward. Feel free to use the questions asked here as conversation starters for your small group. Enjoy!
is Jesus against money? is Jesus against investing? what kind of a life are we to live in a world with material possessions? chad talks about how we are to handle our wealth as God's people and how the Gospel applies to this issue in our life.
Why does God seem to hide his face from us? What do we do in these times? This sermon deals with this difficult issue that all Christians face head on.
the road to emmaus. sometimes we are like the two on the road to emmaus. we see Jesus more as a good teacher who is still dead than the Son of God who is alive and among us.
Everyone seems to be a self-made authority one who God is. Everyone is writing a book claiming they know who God is and what he is all about. How can we sift through all the false claims and find out what is truth and what is opinion? Isn't arrogant to even think we can know something about God? Can God speak through dreams, "prophetic words", and spiritual experiences as well as the Bible. this sermon speaks to these questions and helps us understand how we can know God.
chad talks about what it means to live by faith for us as Christians, and how to do just that in today's world.
March 1st weds. service. Chad talks from the Book of Hebrews about what it means to live by faith.
We desire that our people participate worship gatherings as much as possible instead of simply "spectate". We want young adults to share with others of how they know Jesus is alive in their life- so we make room for that at our worship gatherings. this is a small 2:00 minute segment of one of our own sharing about the power of Jesus in their life. we hope there will be more of you who will share with us in the future. thank you, Darby, for giving glory to God and blessing so many others that night who heard!
(another "remembering jesus" gathering recorded outside on a wonderful April evening.) to be a follower of Jesus (christian) is to be on the same mission Jesus was/is on. We look at what our mission is and what should properly motivate it in light of Jesus Christ. Taken from the book of John.
This is a message from our first worship gathering we call "Remembering Jesus". It is about coming to terms with the fact that we do need Jesus in our lives. These worship gatherings are small, intimate, and honest and that atmosphere comes out in these recordings.
One of the most intimidating and yet misused genre of Scripture is Apocalyptic. Bookstores are flooded with the position called "fully futuristic" and made popular by the "Left Behind" novel series. we examine both Apocalyptic literature in general and Revelation in particular in this class to determine if there are better positions for interpretation. an exciting class!
part a of our final class in "how to read the bible" are the stories in the bible works of fiction intended to teach a good moral lesson or did they actually happen and teach us about God and Man? we discuss how to approach this genre of Scripture which makes up the largest portion of the Bible. Enjoy.
the Gospel of Jesus is the most valuable treasure in the world. we will look at the attributes that set the Gospel apart from other spiritual treasures. this episode is more of a devotional style.
with all the alternatives to following Jesus, can we really put all our trust in Him? This episode explores the glorious supremacy of Jesus Christ. No other savior, god, or life philosophy comes close.
how do we get to "God"? Is there secret knowledge we must have to be enlightened? And how do we know we know which god is the right god? This episode starts the discussion of how we can have strength in the face of questions...with some questions.
In this class we cover the genre of "prophets". We discuss questions like: "what is biblical prophecy?", "what is the role of the prophet".
we discuss the genre of "law" in this class. We address some questions we must face as Christians reading this type of genre: "why do we need Law if we are under Grace"? "what do we do with commandments in the OT as Christians?"
this is an interview that Chad held with two friends at a local doughnut shop. The prologue explains the purpose and parameters of this project. Our hope is that this will inspire Christians (especially those that are members of Relokate) as well as Atheists to leave their "bubbles" and start conversing with one another. Feel free to post and questions or comments on iTunes. Relokate would like to thank the Slatens for joining us in this unorthodox project. May we all find the truth and hold fast to it
