In our Sunday Afternoon Services, I have been preaching through the First Epistle of John. John explains that He has written this letter so that the reader might learn of Jesus Christ and have fellowship with Him and with the Father. John is especially concerned in this letter to help us know that we know Him. Today, John declares to us as believers that we do know the Lord
Made to Know God draws from Psalm 63, where David expresses a deep hunger for God's presence even while in the wilderness. Pastor David reflects on this passage to show that we were created not just to know about God, but to know Him personally and intimately. Our souls were designed to seek, love, and be satisfied in Him. In every season — whether dry or full — God invites us into a relationship where His steadfast love becomes better than life itself.

Exodus 1:8
Matthew 22:34-40 The 10 Commandments Exodus 20:3-17 The Shema Deuteronomy 6:4-5 Loving God rightly requires using all our different faculties as we show love through various means. Our heart loves with feeling and emotion. Our soul loves with will. Our mind loves with logic. How do we love god with heart, soul, and mind? Know God with your heart, soul, and mind.
Teaching from Paul's testimony before King Agrippa in Acts 26, Jordan highlights the transformative power of our own stories. Just as Paul went from persecuting followers of Jesus to becoming a bold messenger of the Gospel, God uses our lives to tell His story. To prepare our hearts and minds to share what Christ has done in us, Jordan challenges us with three key reminders:1. Don't kick against the goads – Resist the urge to fight God's direction and trust His leading. 2. Know God's story – Immerse yourself in Scripture and delight in the character of your Creator.3. Know your own story – Remember your deep need for Christ and how His grace has met you personally.By embracing this framework, Jordan encourages us to become more faithful, loving, and effective ministers of Christ's perfect gospel.
As we set out on life's true adventure, following our Savior, Jesus, it is critical that we know and love His Word. Why? We will face many trials and hardships along the way. We will hear countless lies and feel strong pressure to conform. In a world filled with so much noise directing us the wrong way, it is critical that we know the voice of our Savior so that we can hear it over everything else.
The cross of Christ is the proof of God's love toward sinners. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
What does it really mean to have faith like a child? In this episode, Pastors Josh Howerton, Carlos Erazo, Jana Howerton, and Pamela Baltazar dive into The Chronicles of Narnia and the theme of childlike faith, anchored in Matthew 18:3. From discussing the highest recorded IQ in the world (and his public confession of Christ!) to revisiting C.S. Lewis' vision of the gospel through Narnia, this conversation is full of laughter, theology, cultural commentary, and practical application. They also contrast childish vs. childlike faith, tackle common objections to Christianity, and unpack the historical shifts in belief, from New Atheism to Deconstruction to today's cultural “vibe shift” back toward Christ.
Questions about why, if Adam and Eve were in perfect community with God, we would need to be in a fallen world to fully know God, and why God cursed nature after the fall. If Adam and Eve were in perfect community with God, why would we need to be in a fallen world to fully know God, and did God create a set of circumstances that would bring about a fallen world solely to reveal his other qualities? Why did God curse nature after the fall?

254. Is This True, “The World Just Needs To Know God's Love”? This week's episode challenges the popular Christian narrative that "the world just needs to know they are loved," arguing instead that Jesus' primary message wasn't love but the Kingdom of God, with 120 references to the kingdom with only 20 to love across the gospels. The episode explores how prioritising God's love over His kingdom can lead to treating Jesus as a spiritual guide rather than King. Ultimately, arguing that transformation comes through surrender to His rule rather than sentiment about His affection. The sermon explores the universal human quest for peace and rest, contrasting fleeting worldly attempts with the enduring shalom offered through faith in God. Drawing from Isaiah, the message highlights the consequences of sin and idolatry, emphasizing that true peace is found not in material possessions or religious rituals, but in a deep trust in God and a commitment to doing what is right. Ultimately, the speaker presents Jesus as the source of perfect peace, encouraging listeners to abide in Him and to remember that God is a steadfast rock, providing comfort and hope amidst life's anxieties.
You can't walk in your calling until you walk with the Caller. In this powerful episode, we break down Psalm 18 and uncover 6 names David used to describe the Lord—Rock, Fortress, Deliverer, Strength, Shield, and High Tower. Why does this matter? Because before you do anything with God, you have to believe something about Him. Hebrews 11:6 says you must believe that He exists—and that He rewards those who seek Him. David didn't just serve God. He knew Him. And that intimacy was the key to every battle he won, every psalm he penned, and every legacy he left behind. If you feel like you're striving, stuck, or spiritually dry, this episode will reignite your faith, restore your perspective, and root you deeper in God's character.

Is this the end of the world? How should Christians view Israel, prophecy, and the second coming of Jesus? In this episode, Pastors Josh Howerton, Carlos Erazo, and guest theologian Paul Cunningham unpack powerful themes from Romans 11, Revelation, and 1 Corinthians. The conversation ranges from spiritual mysteries to prophecy fulfillment, including various eschatological views like preterism, premillennialism, and idealism. You'll hear deep, Spirit-filled reflections on how God's sovereignty unfolded in history—and how His promises to Israel still matter today. But beyond the theology, the team brings it home: the return of Christ should stir urgency, humility, and action in our lives. Whether you're exploring prophecy, struggling with what to believe, or leading others in discussion, this episode reminds us that while we don't know the exact time, we do know our mission.
As the source of every good pleasure, God himself pleases fully and finally. It is therefore astonishing how little effort is put into knowing God.
What are you really building your life on? In this powerful conversation, Pastors Mike Breaux, Carlos Erazo, and Marc McCartney close out The Rebel Way series by unpacking the final words of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 7). With humor, honesty, and pastoral wisdom, they explore the difference between merely hearing Jesus' words to actually living them out. They discuss how spiritual growth takes practice, why storms reveal what we're built on, and what it means to follow Jesus on the narrow path of obedience. Whether you're facing a storm or preparing for one, this episode offers clarity, conviction, and hope—because Jesus is the only foundation that holds.
