A sermon by John Zeigler entitled "Intercessory Prayer"
Jesus Followers Are to Pray Directly to God for “all people” Because God “desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” MESSAGE SUMMARY: Jesus taught us to pray to God for others and ourselves. We are told, in Hebrews 5:7-8, that Jesus, as a Human, prayed to God in both content and manner as: “In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications {submissive requests}, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence. Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered.". In your personal relationship with God, you can come before God, as Jesus did, on behalf of yourself or others in Intercessory Prayer. You are given the privilege of following Moses' example for Intercessory Prayer because of what Jesus has done for you. Jesus has given you the privilege of entering the Throne Room of God to have access to God the Father – this access to God is through prayer. In 1 Timothy 2:1-4, we are told the importance if intercessory prayer: “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.". TODAY'S PRAYER: Unclutter my heart, O God, until I am quiet enough to hear you speak out of the silence. Help me in these few moments to stop, to listen, to wait, to be still, and to allow your presence to envelop me. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 23). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Compulsions. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit's fruit of Patience. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). In this powerful exploration of Genesis 18, we delve into the transformative nature of intercessory prayer. The story of Abraham pleading with God for Sodom and Gomorrah teaches us that true spirituality isn't just about personal blessings, but about engaging with God's mission in the world. We're challenged to leverage our relationship with God on behalf of others, standing in the gap for those who may not even realize they need prayer. This passage reveals the delicate balance between God's justice and mercy, ultimately pointing us to the gospel - where Jesus, the one truly righteous person, became our intercessor. As we grasp this truth, it should reshape how we view our relationship with God, our perception of the world's brokenness, and inspire us to bring bold requests before our King. Are we ready to move beyond self-focused prayers and embrace our role as priests in this broken world?

The Prayers of the People are a staple in the Episcopalian service, but they're also reminiscent of a “Choose Your Own Adventure” book, with forms and collects abounding. We're here to discuss the many forms that intercessory prayer can take and why it matters to pray in unison for our world and for each other. We break down the structure of the prayers, discuss why we pray for government officials, share our personal favorite prayers, and entertain a riveting sidebar discussion on “intinction”. Romans 15:30-32 The Call For Intercessory Prayer by Upcountry Calvary
The world is in great need for intercessory prayer. Where ever two or three are gathered together God says if we touch it (claim it) He will do it. Everything happening today is exactly as He said it would be. We need to much in prayer in these days and claiming His great power.

In this episode of Catholic Answers Live, Karlo Broussard tackles one of the most common objections to Catholic teaching: If Jesus is the “one mediator” between God and man, why ask Mary and the saints to intercede for us? Drawing from 1 Timothy 2:5, Ecclesiastes 9:5, and Revelation 5:8, Karlo addresses Protestant concerns about the awareness and intercessory role of the saints in heaven. He explains what the Bible really says about heavenly mediation, the beatific vision, and whether the saints are aware of and respond to our prayers. Along the way, he refutes key counterarguments and clarifies Catholic teaching with clarity and Scripture. Please support our mission by donating! Catholicanswersradio.com Join The CA Live Club Newsletter: Click Here Invite our apologists to speak at your parish! Visit Catholicanswersspeakers.com Questions Covered: 13:50 – You ask Mary and the saints to intercede for you. But doesn't Paul say in 1 Timothy 2:5 that Jesus is our one mediator? 19:20 – If Paul isn't denying mutual Christian intercession (whether that's between us here on earth or the saints in heaven and us), then what does he mean by “one mediator”? 21:57 – It's true that the Bible says we can pray for each other. But the Christians in heaven have died. They aren't aware of what's going on here on earth. Ecclesiastes 9:5 says, ‘the dead know nothing.' So, your requests are futile. 33:23 – Okay, you say that it's at least possible the saints in heaven could know what's going on here on earth in virtue of the beatific vision, which the saints in the afterlife before Christ's ascension didn't have. But is there any biblical evidence that the saints in heaven in fact are aware of what's going on here on earth? 36:00 – Okay, so you've shown that the saints in heaven can at least be aware of the affairs of men here one earth. But what about their intercessory prayer? Is there any biblical evidence that the saints in heaven in fact pray for us? “But Karlo, you're assuming that the 24 elders are human souls. You're also assuming that the “prayers of the saints” refers to petitions made by Christians on earth. How do you know these assumptions are true? 46:07 – I'll concede that Revelation 5:8 shows the 24 elders interceding for Christians on earth in a general way. But I don't think this text gives the Catholic what he's after—namely, intercessory prayers for specific requests.
Jesus carries our burdens—and calls us to carry the burdens of others. Through His perfect intercession, we've been invited into a holy priesthood, standing in the gap on behalf of those in need. This week, Pastor Nathan teaches us that intercessory prayer is not a task for the spiritually elite—it's a call to love others with compassion, to pray like their pain is our pain, and to trust in the mercy of God.
For Mother’s Day we looked at 1 Samuel 25 and how Abigail displayed Christlikeness through Christ-like trust and Christ-like wisdom.
The loved ones are tired of living and say oh how tired they are. They want to be with their Lord and asked him to take them and he says yes to them. Can we be sad? Do we feel sad? That's a question that is in the mind. This is real
SummaryIn this conversation, Benjamin Lee discusses the concept of passionate prayer, drawing insights from the book of Nehemiah. He emphasizes that passionate prayer is personal, persistent, and patient, and highlights the importance of intercessory prayer and making petitions to God. Benjamin encourages listeners to develop a habit of prayer, using examples from scripture, including the prayers of Nehemiah and Jesus, to illustrate the significance of prayer in building faith and community. He concludes by challenging listeners to engage more deeply in prayer, recognizing it as a vital aspect of their spiritual lives.Chapters00:00 The Power of Passionate Prayer06:33 Personal and Persistent Prayer13:01 The Importance of Patience in Prayer18:35 Intercessory Prayer and Petitions22:21 Praise in Prayer and Trusting God's Will24:42 Developing a Habit of Prayerwww.benjaminlee.blog

In this powerful and practical sermon, listeners are encouraged to live with bold faith and unwavering devotion in both personal prayer and collaborative ministry. Drawing from Paul's final instructions in his letter to the Colossians, this message challenges believers to expect God to move, to walk wisely, and to engage meaningfully with others in the body of Christ.Through compelling illustrations (like Sister Betsy's unforgettable faith in the rain) and a deep dive into Paul's team of ministry partners, the sermon emphasizes the centrality of prayer and the beauty of diverse gifts working in unity for the Gospel.✨ Key Themes Highlighted in the Sermon:
Think about a play. All parts of it had been set up it's called stage setting. The life of a believer has a life that is setting up for the greatest moment in history. There are requirements that prepare us for that time.

All throughout both the Old and New Testaments, we see a clear pattern of people in Scripture turning to prayer and fasting in times of uncertainty, brokenness, and need. And in those examples, we find that prayer and fasting are not just religious obligations but natural responses to desperation. And we find that moments of crisis can lead to spiritual renewal when approached with humility and dependence on God. And we find that whether you and I are facing the unknown road ahead or the ruins of life, the invitation is to pray and fast, recognizing that our deepest hunger can only be satisfied by God. Intercessory Prayer
Kevin Becker played soccer in college and is our guest on this episode. Kevin was in his senior year of college at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania when he fell off a roof. He was found on the ground by friends, his head fractured, and his body broken. Kevin was in a coma and his devout parents rushed to be by his side. They were told by his doctors to brace for the worst. His family continued to pray and started a novena to Blessed Giorgio Frassati, a young man who died in 1925. While in a coma, Kevin had a supernatural experience which he explains in this podcast. Kevin didn't know who he encountered while he was in a coma until after his miraculous recovery. Now Kevin is a healthy man who enjoys playing soccer and beach volleyball with friends. He maintains a relationship with his friend Giorgio, is involved with the organization Frassati USA, and talks to groups about his experience. Blessed Giorgio Frassati's canonization to sainthood will take place during the Jubilee of Youth from July 28–Aug. 3, 2025, in Rome. https://youtu.be/S4JPnDZWQoo Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati | USCCB Brief Biography of Bl.
