People come to me and they want to be fixed. The problem is that you're not broken! Disease and dysfunction are symptoms of major imbalances in your life or body. And healing them isn't always comfortable!
One of our cats was diagnosed with a fatal liver tumor in the spring of 2021. Thinking she only had weeks to live, we took a "screw it, it's not going to hurt her!" approach and made a few changes. 16 months later, Barbie is still with us. Here are the two biggest health lessons I've learned from Barbie the Cat.
We're always looking for that new, shiny object or service that will give us the health results we want. But Success is Boring. It's finding what YOUR body needs, and doing that. Over and over.
Your blood sugar is a great “big picture” view of your metabolic health. In this episode I explain how your body uses the food you eat, and how you can use that knowledge to improve your healing. Blood sugar numbers are easy to measure and improve, if you understand how your body works!
I used to be a gym rat, spending hours on the treadmill or elliptical. I was skinny but I was never strong. I wish I'd spent more time when I was younger building my strength, and in this episode I make the case for strength training over cardio. Yes they're both important! But I think for women, strength training has more benefits.
Frank VanderSloot is an incredible businessman and someone I respect a lot. His foresight and ability to predict world economic events based on common sense and a keen eye on economics makes him a voice worth listening to. He recently wrote an article detailing five areas of wellness and I wanted to share them with you. Enjoy!
Is taking collagen in supplement form worth it, or just a bunch of hooey? In this episode I come what collagen is, where it is, and how it might help you. There is evidence that adding it to your regimen is helpful!
The WHO (World Health Organization) defines wellness as "a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." I think that's a good start! I include financial and spiritual matters in my definition and share how to evaluate your wellness.
In 2021 I was feeling really depleted after the stress of Covid and (honestly) too much alcohol during the pandemic. I decided I needed to nourish my body and thought a green smoothie would be an easy way to do it. Tried several recipes and here's the base I've settled on (modified from Marty Kendall's Hulk Green smoothie). Try it and let me know what you think. ~Be grateful, have fun, love lots! Dr Andrea
At age 28 my headaches were so bad they thought I had a brain tumor. What the hell was I going to do? Here's the back story.
My path to pediatric and family chiropractic is a long and winding one! From childhood illnesses to antibiotics for acne, my health history has been interesting! I'm launching a new podcast! Join me and learn how to incorporate life hacks to improve your wellness. Much of what I know comes from my own struggles. Raising kids, handling my own health (I have an autoimmune disease called Hashimoto's that I'm trying to get into remission), as well as all the questions patients have asked over the years. If you can figure out WHY your body is doing something, then you can fix it! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
