**Tons of spoilers in this episode** Insecure (an HBO comedy about young Black people living life in South LA) is one of our all-time favorite shows. It has especially been a single source of joy and relief during these troubling times. Insecure is also known for its great music. With music from both indie and mainstream artists in each episode, it has been a great resource for putting us on. Jeremy kicks off this episode by taking us all the way back to the Season 2 finale and a very important conversation between Issa and Lawrence. He highlights two beautiful songs from that critical scene “Sands” by Dawn Ri’chard and “Blessed” by Daniel Caesar. Lyandre makes a pit stop in the season 3 finale to show some love to Victoria Monet’s cover of the song “Glow” and then jumps ahead to season 4 episode 8 to talk about the moment we all have been waiting on and the incredible Blood Orange song “Out of your league” featuring Steve Lacy. Join us as we toast the show and the music of Insecure.

Rhythm and Banter dedicates this episode to the ongoing efforts to eradicate racism in the United States of America and those on the frontlines fighting for equality. This week Lyandre highlights "Freedom" from the 1995 Panther Soundtrack. Featuring the top female R&B acts of that time it is a song that showcases exactly why we protest and why we must never give up. He also dives into "I'm Black" by Styles P ft Marsha Ambrosius, a song that reminds us of how incredible and human we are in these difficult times. Next, Jeremy discusses, "Changes" by Tupac Shakur, and "Superman" by Eric Roberson, one, a song describing the many layers of racism in this country and the other, a song that instils a sense of self-worth and confidence necessary to stand strong and fight for what you believe in. For those of you looking to contribute to the ongoing efforts demanding justice for the deaths of countless innocent black men and tangible reform of an unfair system see the two links below mentioned in the podcast. https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/ www.blackvisionsmn.org
