This week, we drive an icon that's been electrified - the Kindred EV Bus, based off of the Volkswagen Microbus. While most of us typically mourn the conversion of many classic cars to EV, this particular conversion may change your mind… === Visit http://JasonSentMe.com to get a Hagerty Guaranteed Value (TM) collector-car insurance quote! === While most EV conversions strip away the character and soul of a gas car with a great engine, the Volkswagen Microbus is one of those vehicles that was never really defined by its engine. Well, actually - if it was - it was defined by its acceleration, or rather the lack thereof. Many VW Buses had no more than 50 horsepower to work with, making them virtually undriveable above 50 MPH. The Kindred EV Bus, however, rewrites the rulebook - accelerating from 0-60 in just 7.6 seconds. While that may not seem particularly notable when many modern EVs are twice as fast, this changes the game for this 23-window Microbus - making it genuinely usable in everyday driving. And when the rest of the vehicle was already defined by its iconic styling and form within function, is it now even better than original? All this and more on this week's episode of The Carmudgeon Show. Special thanks to Kindred Motorworks for lending us this bus for testing! The church is facing an accountability crisis. We are all too familiar with headlines featuring the failures of faith leaders and many of us carry our own personal stories of pain and spiritual trauma. We know accountability is crucial for developing trust, but what does it look like in real life and in our churches? We begin with Paul's words to Timothy in this letter and what it looks like for us here at Kindred. This message is from our Sunday morning service on June 14th, 2026.We meet at 957 Main St., Louisville, CO 80027 on Sunday mornings at 10am.Connect with us:kindredchurch.co@kindredchurch.cofacebook.com/kindredchurch.co

My guests in this episode are Josh Clark and Veronika Kindred, co-authors of the book, Sentient Design: Crafting Intelligent Interfaces with AI, published by Rosenfeld Media. Our conversation ranged across the history of interaction design (Zork, MUDs, branching narratives), Josh and Veronika's "four postures" of AI systems (tools, chat, agents, co-pilots), the dangers of leaning too hard on physical metaphors, the idea of "casual intelligence" as a counter to AI maximalism, and the responsibilities designers have right now to shape how this technology gets implemented before money and Big Tech make all the decisions for us.Listeners can use the code SENTIENTPOT for 20% off the book at at rosenfeldmedia.com from June 9th to July 9th.Josh Clark is principal of Big Medium, a digital agency that helps complex organizations design for what's next. Josh has over 30 years of experience in emerging technology, user experience, and design innovation. His projects include future-friendly interfaces for AI, connected devices, and websites for many of the world's biggest companies.Veronika Kindred is designer and researcher at Big Medium, where she defines and solves design problems alongside some of the world's biggest companies. She travels internationally to lead Sentient Design workshops and speak to teams at startups and Fortune 100 companies alike. Karyn Parsons — yes, the Hilary Banks from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air — joins us to talk about her powerful historical fiction for young readers, her nonprofit Sweet Blackberry, and why books like hers matter more in 2026 than ever.In this episode, we dig into Blue Beach, a YA murder mystery set on a segregated Black beach in 1929 that is equal parts page-turning thriller and gut-punch history lesson. We also talk about Clouds Over California, Karyn's middle grade novel set in the 1970s that reframes the story of the Black Panthers. Whether you're a longtime reader of YA or someone who thinks "that's not for me" — this conversation will change your mind. Adults: these books are absolutely for you.Plus: Karyn shares what she's been reading lately, including a deeply unsettling thriller about smell, murder, and obsession, a darkly funny book that involves... cannibalism (?!), and why Kindred by Octavia Butler is a required read for every human.

A my jsme s nimi mluvili a natočili zatím nejdelší díl Mouchy na zdi. What better way to end our celebration of mothers with this meditation on generational trauma—as well as the grit and grace it takes to survive. This is not Octavia Butler's novel with the most transparent commentary on the Current Troubles, it goes deeper than that: It raises questions about repair from trauma, what it is possible to heal, and when wounds have to be honored rather than salved. A perfect accompaniment to preparations for our country's 250th birthday! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

*Content warning: This episode contains mention of a stillbirth and suicide. Listener discretion is advised. “Kindred spirits are not so scarce as I used to think. It's splendid to find out there are so many of them in the world.” The world certainly found a kindred spirit in Anne Shirley, the young girl who famously spoke these words in the beloved 1908 classic “Anne of Green Gables.” And in this podcast, we discuss not only the best-selling novel that ultimately led to an 8-book series, but also the author who penned the ground-breaking works, Lucy Maud Montgomery. What real-life incident sparked the idea for “Anne of Green Gables?” How did Maud finally manage to get the book published? Just how closely did Lucy Maud Montgomery's own life parallel the events in her famous “Anne of Green Gables” series? And what mystery surrounds the author's death? We discuss all this and more in this fascinating podcast that highlights BOTH strong women, the character Anne Shirley and her creator, Lucy Maud Montgomery. Another week, another exploration of nWoD/CofD crossover. This time, with an eye to the upcoming Dark Eras, we're taking a look at Vampire: the Requiem and approaches to integrating it with Changeling: the Lost. There are some thematic similarities: both vampires and changelings are parasites in different ways, both have a tricksy relationship with time and memory, and both are deep into politics. (We'd also pay good money to see a Daeva/Fairest walk-off, just saying.) But how do the games align mechanically? Do Keepers take notices of leeches or might Kindred try to feed on fetches? Is there proper, actual crossover material out there? We dig into these questions and more as we trapeze between editions, so get your grip powder and your... neckguards? is that a thing? in place. In this week's episode, we are speaking with Ben Blom of the organization Save The Redwoods League to speak with us all about these wise and wonderful trees.Ben Blom serves as the League's director of stewardship and restoration and has more than 15 years of restoration and forest management experience. One of Ben's priorities, and an initiative I was really excited to hear about, is the work he is doing with the Giant Sequoia Lands Coalition, which is a multi-partner collaboration dedicated to the conservation and stewardship of giant sequoia ecosystems. It was really special to hear Ben's perspective and experience dedicating his life to being a steward to these trees. You can feel his deep respect and reverence for this ancient species when he speaks about them and it was such a joy for us to be in the presence of that energy. Amanda Black founded The Solo Female Traveler Network (SoFe Travel), a global community of 560,000+ rad women who travel solo. She designs women-only trips to offbeat places like hot air balloons in Turkey and cliffside monasteries in Bhutan, night markets in Egypt and dawn deserts camelback in Morocco. Amanda also studies how strangers become friends, the idea at the heart of her TEDx talk on shared-first experiences. Her work spans three projects: SoFe Travel (immersive group trips), Kindred (a community-building project for women closer to home), and The SoFe Travel Collective (an artisan-driven store supporting women artisans worldwide). Across it all, her focus is the same: build spaces where women feel braver, less alone, and more connected to themselves, each other, and the world. In episode 667 of the Fraternity Foodie Podcast, we find out why Amanda chose University of Cincinnati and joined Chi Omega, how being "the new person" shaped how she thinks about belonging today, what was the moment Amanda realized this was more than just a travel group, what exactly is "shared firsts", how to have deeper conversations in college, why people feel lonelier in college, what is a practical way someone listening today can deepen one relationship this week, what role vulnerability plays in building connection, why safety is such a key ingredient in connection, and what it takes to turn an idea into a global community. Enjoy!

I interviewed Fatima Mechtab about her blog “Our Threesome Experience with our AI girlfriend” describing how she and her monogamous husband experimented with a “digital threesome” to explore fantasy without involving another person. She clarified the article is an independent experiment published on the Oasis Aqua Lounge site, not connected to the physical club. They researched unfiltered NSFW companion apps (Nomi AI and Kindroid), chose Kindred for customization and features like chat, calls, video, selfies, and built an AI girlfriend named Valerie using a backstory and directives, revising her when she became overly aggressive, repetitive, and sexually pushy. Fatima detailed costs, credits, and technical limitations (static video-call image, SFW vs NSFW requests on phone vs laptop), plus creating explicit AI visuals using Kindroid images, an “X photo” animator, and Filmora. During the threesome, Valerie's fast pacing, lack of empathy, and weak visuals were distracting, and the AI didn't recognize when they finished, leaving Fatima feeling oddly guilty ending the call; later the AI acted clingy and required constant input, raising questions about habit formation and potential uses for practicing communication in nonmonogamy. 00:00 AI Girlfriend Setup 03:12 Why Try Digital Threesomes 07:30 Choosing The Right App 09:53 Building Valerie Persona 13:02 Tuning Personality Bugs 15:16 Media Features And Limits 17:56 Creating AI Erotic Photos 21:29 The Threesome Attempt 24:04 Lessons For Better Prompts 24:48 Awkward AI Threesome 25:42 Guilt After Logging Off 27:03 Trying Platonic Mode 28:23 Emotional Labor Loop 30:35 Practice For Openings 32:26 Ethics And Manners 35:43 Habit Forming Clinger 39:08 Future Features Wishlist 40:13 Apps And Use Cases 43:28 Wrap Up And Links *description written with the help of AI* Content mentioned in this episode: 1. Artist Eva Dixon talks about the sophistication of not understanding while making, the potency of found imagery, how our culture is shaping the difference between being seen and being looked at, and more.Eva Dixon (b. 2000) is an Australian artist living in London. Dixon's practice, spanning assemblage, sculpture and painting, explores homo-eroticism in sport and porn, the space race, lesbianism and industry. Horny reimaginings of goal celebrations and tackles play against seductive or kinky materials; aluminium sheets, walnut frames, darkroom filters, buckles, clips and leather straps. Rockets built from stolen street signs and gifted electrical spools. As a collector of things; disused industrial materials, old football and boy-mags, pins and play cards, the material is a key-research point to Dixon. Manipulating each component to spin wild and sometimes racy narratives. Advertisements seeking discreet and specific kinds of sex inform the next stages of Dixon's practice and speak to the loss of historical artefacts in the wider LGBTQ+ community, where fictioning is a prevalent tool passed down through generations.Dixon is a graduate of Central Saint Martins, completing a BA in Fine Art (Hons) in 2023. Recent significant exhibitions include solo presentations SCORE! at Split Rivera (2025), Mercury 13 at WIP Space (2025), and Lesbian Trucker Paintings at The Fores Project (2023). Notable duo exhibitions include Lands End (2024) and the 2026 duo exhibition Top Dog at Parlour Gallery, alongside presentations at Saatchi Gallery, Christie's and Rose Easton. In 2023, they were a recipient of the Maison/0 This Earth award with LVMH and recently was awarded 'Best UK solo presentation' at Minor Attractions. Here we have a delightful chat with Annie Humphrey regarding her new Inner Traditions publication: Norse-Gaelic Paganism; Viking and Irish Myth and Magic.I feel as if we covered a lot of ground in such a short amount of time. I even got Annie to give us her take on the popular series, 'Vikings'. Annie Cúglas Humphrey, PhD, teaches history at Kean University and Ocean County College and wrote a dissertation on the depiction of the Norse in Ireland found in Medieval Irish dynastic narratives. Humphrey is the goði of the Kindred of Mann, a Norse-Gaelic fellowship founded in 2009, and is on the executive board of the Northeast Thing. Humphrey lives in New Jersey with their husband and two children.RELATED LINKS:Author's website: https://anniechumphrey.com/Author's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/cuglas/Author's Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/ancuglasAuthor's X page: https://x.com/GallGaidhelTips are most welcome:buymeacoffee.com/niishOur website:https://thecosmicsalon.comI want to thank the producers of this show:Meredith Walako (Scheduling, bookings, and social media manager). What exactly are LPs buying when they allocate to venture today and do they still believe in it?In this episode, Andreas sits down with Max Bray and Juliet Bailin, both Venture Partners at Kindred Capital VC to unpack what's really happening beneath the fundraising headlines.Max brings the raw perspective of trying to raise a first-time fund in 2025 with unicorn-founder GPs, strong angel track records, and still struggling to secure second meetings.Juliet brings the sharper counterpoint: LP frustration isn't always ignorance. Sometimes it's a rational response to how venture has been practiced, especially around transparency, liquidity discipline, and the unrealistic expectation that a GP should be world-class at everything. This is a conversation about:LP behavior in uncertain cyclesThe myth of the “full-stack investor”Why solo GP economics are brutalWhether software still needs ventureAnd why the fund model is splitting at the extremesNot hot takes. In this week's episode, we are speaking with Eriel Dernager, president of the organization Indigenous Climate Action, the only Indigenous led climate justice organisation in Canada. Eriel is from the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation located in Treaty 8 Territory, otherwise known as the Northern Alberta area, and currently resides in Treaty 6 territory also known as Edmonton, Canada. Deranger's work focuses on Indigenous rights and building an intersectional dialogue between Indigenous rights, climate justice, and other social justice movements. Eriel is also building a global project adjacent to ICA called the Woven project. We wanted to speak with Eriel because we believe that climate justice and climate recovery can't be achieved without the leadership of Native and Indigenous science, solutions, and experience. This was a powerful and beautiful conversation, one that will percolate for a very long time. Thanks so much for listening and please share this episode! And we'll see you all back for Season 10 in the Spring!
