Where do we make our change as trans and non-binary people? This week we hear from people working in improving trans people’s lives, from government legislation to fabulous activism to the change our visibility makes. Helen Belcher gives her learnt perspectives from her fight for the Lib Dem MP position in Chippenham, sharing some understandings of how laws are passed and has advice for contacting your MP. Nim Ralph is a community activist, freelance trainer, facilitator and writer working extensively in QTIPOC, feminist and decolonial activism. They share with us their process of resistance that has fought against internalising oppression. They give their perspective on getting to the table, and where allies can platform trans voices. Charlie Craggs is an award winning trans activist and author. She has been running her campaign Nail Transphobia for 5 year, offering free manicures for the chance to sit down and chat with a trans person in a bid to humanise the issue, break down misconceptions and build allies. She talks with us about the process of starting this campaign and the way her activism affects people. In our second highlight reel, we will be showing clips of some of our favourite moments in the last four talks from the first day of our Transforming Spaces Conference that we will be publishing. We are running a project on trans inclusion in sport: we aim for sport / physical activity organisations to become more knowledgeable and more confident in their ability to create and implement realistic, everyday trans inclusive practices. Alongside this, we aim to encourage trans people themselves to take up, or return to, physical activity and sport and all the benefits that can bring.
