El naufragio del “Castillo de Olite” a manos de las baterías republicanas, ocurrió a las 11 de la mañana, de un 7 de marzo de 1939, en la boca del puerto de Cartagena, España Era un buque mercante de origen ruso, en el que a bordo se encontraban dos batallones del Ejército Nacional, en su mayoría de origen gallego. En total, 2.200 hombres de los cuales sobrevivieron apenas 700, convirtiéndose este naufragio en la mayor catástrofe naval Española… Pero esta noche no solo vamos a navegar por aguas del Mediterráneo, el Mar Cantábrico y un precioso puerto del norte de España, nos esperan… Debemos situarnos en la ciudad de Santander, un 3 de noviembre de 1893… El vapor Cabo Machichaco, atracaba en el puerto de la capital cántabra, cargado con casi 1.800 cajas de dinamita y 2 docenas de barriles de ácido sulfúrico… El capitán del barco no avisó de lo peligroso de su carga, y tras una breve cuarentena, terminó fondeando en el muelle de Maliaño, donde poco después se desencadenaría una gigantesca tragedia. Tres cadenas hoteleras se han retirado esta semana de Cuba: las españolas Meliá e Iberostar y la canadiense Blue Diamon. Las empresas extranjeras instaladas en la isla caribeña tienen hasta el 5 de junio para cortar sus vínculos con el conglomerado económico-militar Gaesa, sancionado por Washington. ¿Por qué si cae Gaesa la economía cubana podría derrumbarse? Explicaciones con el politólogo cubano Oscar Grandio Moráguez.  Para operar en Cuba, toda empresa extranjera tiene que pasar por Gaesa, un conglomerado empresarial vinculado a las fuerzas armadas. Creado en los 90 tras la caída de la Unión Soviética, tiene una particularidad: no rendir cuentas, según explica a RFI el politólogo Oscar Grandio.  "A pesar de ser estatal, las cuentas de Gaesa siempre han estado exentas de auditoría por parte de la Contraloría General de la República. Es un blindaje político que permite que los ingresos de este conglomerado todopoderoso no sean redistribuidos a través del presupuesto del Estado —y aquí está el problema—, sino retenidos bajo un control privado de una familia y del Ejército", detalla. El autor del libro “Mejor no me callo: Notas ante una transición en Cuba” indicó que primero se retiró la minera canadiense Sherritt y luego las navieras anunciaron la suspensión de operaciones con la isla caribeña porque sus partners son precisamente empresas de Gaesa. Poniendo al conglomerado económico-militar como el principal objetivo de las sanciones, Washington espera poner de rodillas al sistema cubano, sostiene el especialista. "El gobierno norteamericano se da cuenta de que, efectivamente, el control de la economía cubana es de Gaesa, no es el Estado cubano como tal", subraya. Según el politólogo cubano, esto implica también la reducción de la entrada de divisas por la caída de la producción de níquel y cobalto que están bajo control de Gaesa, tras la salida de la canadiense Sherritt. En la misma línea, añade, que el sector de importación de petróleo está en manos del conglomerado. "Hay un efecto disuasorio con estas sanciones, que va a alejar a los pocos inversores extranjeros que aúb operan en la isla. Entonces, si tú sancionas a Gaesa y a los empresarios extranjeros que operan con ella, que son prácticamente todos los que trabajan con Cuba, evidentemente el colapso va a ser mayúsculo", concluye.
