I took a much needed break/reset but now I'm back. I had a conversation with Ian MacDougall and we talked about everything from being in bands such as Broken Gold, Band of Horses and Riverboat Gamblers to accidentally seeing a Huey Lewis show in New Orleans and also teaching music at School of Rock Austin in these Covid times. I've known Ian for a little while now and it was cool to catchup and talk about movies, music and also what it's like to be an artist in today's world with the Covid. I think we talked about food and working out or was I dreaming? Anyhow, go check out his music and follow him on social media and tell him I didn't send you. Super stoked and grateful he took the time out to talk. Thanks Ian. Enjoy...Joe. https://brokengoldatx.com/ http://www.bandofhorses.com/ http://www.theriverboatgamblers.com/ http://www.theriverboatgamblers.com/ https://locations.schoolofrock.com/austin https://merge4.com/ Voices Everywhere theme song by Jason Andres VIII
I had a great conversation with Scott Garred recently for the podcast. Scott is known for being in the influential band Silver Scooter that reigned in the mid 90's to early 2000's and also Super XX Man which originally started before Silver Scooter in his hometown of Pullman, Washington. We talked about skateboarding in the early 90's, playing in Seattle, Wa and what it was like to be in a band in Austin, Texas back before it became the Austin that we know now. Scott also talked about recording with Bob Mould when Bob lived in Austin. Scott is currently residing in the Bay Area and has a new self-released LP coming out this fall. I don't want to give away too much so take a listen to the conversation. Here are the links to his works below. Podcast interview with Bryan Richie of The Sword and Galactic Protector. He talks about what it was like growing up in and around Austin, Texas before it became the Austin, Texas it is today. Bryan also talked about joining The Sword and touring around the world with Metallica. It was pretty cool picking his brain about the process of branching off and doing a solo record under the name Galactic Protector and what inspired him to do so. Good guy, good chat, all around good conversation with Bryan. He's a Texan....that alone speaks for itself. Enjoy.
