They navigate tight passages, dispel glyphs, and move with hushed precision, managing to avoid further combat and finally put distance between themselves and the city before making camp for the night. During watches, they process the weight of what they witnessed. Shanks thanks Yurik for the rescue, concerns are raised about Ors Themar's implications for Nakoroa, and the group reflects on how dire the situation may be.During the watches, deeper conversations unfold. Turk and Glad discuss Glad's fallout with The Protector, while Arguile admits he initially believed Yurik was the threat his mother, Dorna, was facing. Galahad and Shanks speak candidly about fear, death, how Galahad's aura functions, and a new potion Shanks has been developing. By morning, Shanks discovers a small copper coin and a raven's feather, an ominous sign, while Arguile notices the stone's count has dropped to two. Alarmed, the group breaks camp and heads back toward the city with urgency, stopping one last time at the now-empty field where the cursed cabin once stood. Overnight, the stone drops further, ticking down from 0.5 to 0.1 as they approach.Upon entering the city, a shepherd informs Yurik that Shepard Miles has summoned them to their usual meeting place. Before going, they detour to Yurik and Dorna's home, only to find it empty as the stone finally reaches zero. There's greed… and then there's the nauseating greed of profiteering corporations that make a killing – literally – by knowingly contaminating people's water, air, land, and families.Such rank, moral corruption is hard to fathom... but it's not hard to find. For one breathtaking example, consider Freeport-McMoRan.This global mining behemoth is one of America's most aggressive spoliers of land, air, water, and health – including from its sprawling copper smelter near Phoenix, Arizona. This operation is a major spreader of lead pollution, a neurotoxin that's particularly harmful to children, causing pain, seizures, and learning disabilities.But wait, where's our Environmental Protection Agency? Good question. In fact, until last year, EPA was requiring Freeport to install technology to cut those poisonous emissions. The giant squealed like a stuck pig, though, crying that the $60 million cost for the lifesaving equipment was too “burdensome” – even though that wouldn't even be a drop in Freeport's $2-billion-a-year bucket of profits.Sure enough, in October, Trump's new EPA honcho rushed to provide pollution protection. Not for the children, but for the polluter! Indeed, Trump's corporate-coddling agency “super-streamlined” the regulatory process by essentially eliminating it – no public hearing required, no presentation of facts, to chance for victims to object. All Freeport had to do was send an email requesting regulatory relief, and – BAM! – Trump promptly exempted its Arizona smelter from having to clean up its act.Not only is this “free pass to pollute” a blunt proclamation of corporate rule, it also expresses Trump's deep contempt for working-class people. Imagine if that smelter was in Florida, poisoning the elites in his Mar-a-Lago resort. Then, he'd jump on it like a gator on a poodle.Do something!The Environmental Defense Fund was one of the primary organizations working on the Freeport-McMoRan issue; they've launched a Trump EPA Pollution Pass map that shows you all the places that have applied for presidental exemptions from pollution laws. We're so excited for next week! Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, episode 4 discussion (00:24:31) Points to us for knowing Annabeth was in a sewer, even though we had no idea why. We really see the relationship between Luke and Young Annabeth in the first flashback scene. Did you expect Young Annabeth to call Luke out for telling her Keloggia was the goddess of stealth? Did you like the Monster Donut and hydra details?? Young Annabeth is SO CUTE. Percy knows just what to say to Tyson. He also knows how to break the tension. Boys are gross. Clarisse makes a VERY dramatic entrance. How did she know Annabeth wasn't inside?? Annabeth and Clarisse go toe-to-toe in a battle of wits. Then Percy and Clarisse go toe-to-toe in a battle of strength. Did Percy think he could beat Clarisse, or was he just giving Annabeth time to make her move? Why is Clarisse so hellbent on not having any other demigods with her? Time to make some big choices! Will it be Scylla or…that other one? Clarisse really doesn't like the idea of sacrificing her men. There's that bleeding heart again. Grover is an excellent Protector. Demigods are just bad at listening. Neither Luke nor Thalia wants to go to Camp. Luke looks SO emo in this scene, and we're eating it up. What were your original theories as to why Annabeth's bracelet kept returning to the boat? We get a glimpse of Rainbow!! Percy realizes he's got some new abilities. Will Tyson grow into more of his Poseidon skills? Small choices make the biggest difference sometimes. Percy has some great advice in this scene, but is it a little too clean and perfect? Clarisse's men are willing to follow her anywhere, and you can tell that sits heavy on her shoulders. Was Percy channeling Sally Jackson in this scene with the sandwich? We get the full prophecy, and even though it's straight from the book, we're glad to hear it from start to finish. It's time to follow through on those big choices! “Heroes slay monsters, they don't run from them.” Sometimes it's hard to remember, especially in the beginning, that Clarisse is a hero, too. We loved watching Annabeth and Percy figure out how to correct course after Clarisse changes their heading. Percy on the front of the ship, steady as a rock, was SO BADASS. Clarisse saves Annabeth. How very friendly of her! Ironside blows up in the most dramatic way possible. Can you believe the episode ended here?? Next time: Sea Doos, sirens, guinea pigs, oh my! Read OnlineSuch was his intention when, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the Holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her.” Matthew 1:20Joseph knew that the penalty for adultery was death by stoning. His heart must have been deeply conflicted. On one hand, the virtues of his betrothed wife, Mary, were abundantly clear. Mary radiated holiness. Impurity was foreign to her Immaculate Heart. Yet she was pregnant, and Joseph was not the father. What should he do?To protect Mary from public shame, Joseph decided to do what he believed was the most merciful thing—he “decided to divorce her quietly. Such was his intention…” Though little is known about Joseph, this Gospel passage identifies him as “a righteous man.” Many saints, popes, and Church documents highlight his unquestionable sanctity. He was not immaculate and free from sin as was his wife, but God the Father would have chosen a righteous and holy man to be the foster father of the Son of God.Joseph's actions reveal his deep faith. As he slept, “the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, ‘Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the Holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her.'” The angel explained to him that Isaiah prophesied that the Messiah would be born of a virgin (see Isaiah 7:14) and that Joseph was to take Mary and her unborn Son into his home and care for them. When he awoke, he did as the angel commanded.Joseph's dream was no ordinary dream. The Holy Spirit accompanied the angel and instilled the certitude of faith in Joseph's mind, empowering his will to obey God's will. Joseph became the father and guardian of the Savior of the World. On December 8, 1847, Pope Pius IX declared Saint Joseph to be the Universal Patron and Protector of the Catholic Church. Just as he protected the Son of God, so he intercedes for us who are members of Christ's body, the Church.As our Advent season enters its final week, we are reminded of the role that Jesus' foster father played not only in the life of the Holy Family, but also about the role Saint Joseph continues to play in the life of the Church and in each one of our lives. His intercessory power from Heaven is great, and we should not hesitate to call upon his prayers, especially when we need protection, struggle with fear, or face some grave challenge.Reflect today on your personal devotion to Saint Joseph. Another angel appears with the seal of the living God, marking 144,000 from the twelve tribes of Israel, symbolizing God's protection over His people. After this, John sees a great multitude that no one can count, from every nation, tribe, people, and language, standing before the throne and the Lamb. They are clothed in white robes and hold palm branches, crying out in worship as the heavenly hosts praise God. One of the elders explains that they have come out of great tribulation and have been made clean by the blood of the Lamb. They serve God day and night, and He will shelter them, wipe away every tear, and be their shepherd forever.  We are reminded that God knows and seals His people. No matter what happens on earth, we are not forgotten. We belong to Him, and He protects those who trust in the Lamb. The great multitude shows us that His grace reaches every nation and every people. We are part of something much larger than ourselves—a global family of faith. When we go through trials, we are not alone. God sees our struggles and promises to bring comfort, healing, and peace. One day, we will stand before His throne, washed clean by the blood of the Lamb. Until then, we worship, serve, and wait with hope, knowing that our Shepherd walks with us every step of the way.  Loving God, You see every heart and gather people from every nation to stand before Your throne. Thank You for sealing and protecting those who belong to You. When we face hardship, remind us that we are not forgotten. You are our shelter, our comfort, and our Protector. Wash us clean through the blood of the Lamb, and help us remain faithful in every season. Fill our hearts with hope as we look forward to the day when every tear will be wiped away. If John Wick and Judge Dredd loved each other very much… Saga of the Forgotten Warrior By: Larry Correia 1- Son of the Black Sword 2- House of Assassins 3- Destroyer of Worlds 4- Tower of Silence 5- Graveyard of Demons 6- Heart of the Mountain Briefly, what is this series about?  The series is set on the continent of Lok, in a world inspired by feudal India and Southeast Asia, meaning that there are castes, and outside of that, the casteless, who are literal non-people. The story follows Ashok Vadal, a pitiless "Protector of the Law". The Order of the Protectors is like a branch of elite special forces, called in when the normal constabulary, or even the normal military is insufficient. Even among these elite warriors Ashok stands out as being particularly deadly because he bears one of the world's twelve sentient magical swords. Much of the law concerns the status of the first caste and the casteless' lack of status. But it also forbids religion, illegal magic, and demons leaving the sea. The ocean is full of demons, and they don't have much regard for the law, so Ashok spends much of his time killing them.  Given that the ocean is the exclusive domain of the demons, all status consists in living far away from it, and all insults reference the ocean in some way. "Saltwater!" Or calling someone a "Fisheater."  Who should read this series? Much of my discussion below will concern this very question, but as a tl;dr you should definitely like it if you like Correia's other stuff. Tom Walton is a Christ follower, husband, and passionate outdoorsman. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Tom has been in law enforcement for 13 years and is currently a detective and SWAT team member.
