Welcome to Day 2915 of Wisdom-Trek. Thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom. Day 2915 – Wisdom Nuggets – Psalm 146:1-10 Daily Wisdom Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2915 Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2915 of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. The title for today's Wisdom-Trek is: The Sovereign Creator and the Frailty of Princes – Unveiling the Eternal Helper On our previous podcast, on Day Two Thousand Nine Hundred Thirteen, we reached a momentous milestone in our journey through the Book of Psalms, as we closed out Psalm One Hundred Forty-Five—the very last psalm explicitly attributed to King David in the Psalter. In that glorious acrostic hymn, we listened as the old warrior king handed off the baton of praise to every generation, exalting Yahweh's unsearchable greatness, His open-handed generosity, and His everlasting kingdom. Today, as we step onto Day Two Thousand Nine Hundred Fifteen of our trek, we enter a brand-new, breathtaking chapter in the Psalms. We are beginning what biblical scholars call the "Final Hallel"—a grand, five-psalm crescendo comprised of Psalms One Hundred Forty-Six through One Hundred Fifty. Every single one of these five concluding psalms begins and ends with the majestic Hebrew command: Hallelu-YAH—Praise the Lord! We are moving from the individual testimony of David into the unanimous, triumphant doxology of the entire redeemed assembly. Today, we step directly onto the trail of Psalm One Hundred Forty-Six, verses one through ten, discovering where true human hope must be anchored. The first segment is: The Unceasing Vow: Praise with Every Dying Breath Let us open our ears to the exuberant opening movement of this psalm, where the writer groups his initial thoughts together in verse one and verse two. Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul. I will praise the Lord as long as I live. I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath. The psalmist begins with a passionate, double declaration of praise, commanding his own inner being: “Praise the Lord, O my soul!” He vows to pour out praise to Yahweh as long as he lives, continuing this song of adoration even with his very dying breath. To fully grasp the theological depth of these opening lines, we must view them through the Ancient Israelite divine-council worldview. In the ancient mindset, human life-breath—known as neshamah or ruach—was not merely a biological phenomenon. It was the direct, miraculous gift of life imparted into human nostrils by the Sovereign Creator Himself. The gods of the surrounding pagan nations were lifeless idols, carved from stone or wood, completely unable to breathe, speak, or grant life to their worshippers. But Yahweh is the vibrant, uncreated Source of all animated existence! Therefore, as long as divine breath fills human lungs, that breath is designed to return to its Source in continuous, grateful worship. The psalmist pledges that even when physical strength wanes, and the body approaches the grave, the final sound slipping past human lips will be an anthem of praise to the King of heaven. The second segment is: The Folly of Trusting Mortals: Princes Returning to Dust The narrative takes a stark, brilliant turn in verse three and verse four, contrasting the eternal God with the extreme frailty of human political power. Don't put your trust in human leaders; no human can save you. When their breath departs, they return to the earth; on that very day their plans come to nothing. Here, the psalmist issues an urgent, unvarnished warning: “Don't put your trust in human leaders; no human can save you.” He explains that when their breath departs, these leaders return to the dust of the earth, and on that exact day, all their grand political, economic, and military plans dissolve into absolute nothingness. To truly appreciate this warning, we must examine it through the cosmic framework of ancient history. In the ancient Near East, kings, princes, and emperors routinely claimed divine status, presenting themselves as living gods or unique representatives of powerful spiritual principalities. Subjects were tempted to place their ultimate hope, national security, and personal salvation in these powerful monarchs. But the psalmist strips away all royal pretense! He deliberately uses the Hebrew word adam for human, reminding us that even the most powerful prince is made of adamah—mere dust from the ground. When a mortal leader dies, his spirit leaves him, his body decays back into the soil, and every policy, treaty, and military campaign he engineered vanishes instantly. In a world full of shifting geopolitics, human arrogance, and ideological promises, true wisdom urges us never to anchor our ultimate trust in mortal leaders who cannot even save themselves. The third segment is: The Cosmic Creator: The Unshakeable Anchor of Hope Having exposed the futility of trusting in mortals, the psalmist points us directly to the unshakeable anchor of true joy, combining the logical thoughts found in verse five and verse six. But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the Lord their God. He made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. He keeps every promise forever. The text bursts forth with a glorious beatitude, declaring, “Joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the Lord their God.” The writer then grounds this joy in Yahweh's cosmic credentials, proclaiming that He made heaven, earth, the sea, and everything in them, and that He keeps every promise forever! This is a massive, explicit claim of supreme cosmic authority! In the ancient divine-council worldview, foreign nations believed that their localized deities ruled specific, limited domains—Baal ruled the skies and weather, Yam ruled the chaotic seas, and Mot ruled the underworld. But the psalmist declares that Yahweh, the God of Jacob, is the singular, ultimate Architect of all three cosmic tiers: heaven, earth, and the roaring oceans! While human rulers break treaties, default on promises, and pass away into dust, the Creator of the cosmos remains forever faithful. His character is unchangeable, His power is limitless, and His covenants are backed by the full, eternal authority of His heavenly throne. The fourth segment is: The King of Justice: Liberator, Healer, and Protector The psalmist now unfolds the practical, compassionate expression of Yahweh's rule on earth, weaving together the contiguous thoughts in verse seven, verse eight, and verse nine. He gives justice to the oppressed and food to the hungry. The Lord frees the prisoners. The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down. The Lord loves the godly. The Lord protects the foreigners among us. He cares for the orphans and widows, but he frustrates the plans of the wicked. Look at this magnificent, nine-fold manifesto of divine justice! Yahweh gives justice to the oppressed, food to the hungry, freedom to prisoners, vision to the blind, and comfort to those weighed down by life's heavy burdens. He loves the godly, protects vulnerable foreigners, and sustains orphans and widows, while actively dismantling and frustrating the schemes of the wicked. This passage provides a staggering portrait of divine kingdom ethics. In the ancient world, pagan deities and earthly tyrants catered exclusively to the elite, exploiting the poor, the stranger, and the fatherless to build their monuments. But Yahweh proves His supreme kingship precisely by championing the most vulnerable and marginalized members of society! Notice how every single action is prefixed with the divine name: The Lord frees, The Lord opens eyes, The Lord lifts up, The Lord protects! This list directly anticipates the miracle ministry of Jesus Christ, who entered human history to fulfill these exact words—healing the blind, feeding the hungry, liberating spiritual captives, and bringing the gospel to the poor. Furthermore, while Yahweh embraces the humble, He sets Himself in direct opposition to the arrogant, ensuring that their oppressive plans will ultimately crumble into chaos. The fifth segment is: The Eternal Reign: Zion's Unending Anthem The psalm reaches its ultimate, triumphant crescendo in verse ten,...

Nick talks to Dr. Alok Trivedi (Dr. Rewire) to discuss the deep connection between genetics, neurology, and financial success, based on his book The 4 Brains of Money. Moving past traditional "money mindsets," Dr. Trivedi explains how individual neurotransmitter profiles—split into four primary types: Chaser, Protector, Receiver, and Bridge Builder—dictate how we make, manage, and potentially self-sabotage our wealth. By shifting from subjective beliefs to objective, DNA-based brain regulation, high achievers can learn how to prevent burnout, balance their nervous systems, and sustain long-term growth without crashing. KEY TAKEAWAYS Self-sabotage is often a biological crash: What many entrepreneurs label as "self-sabotage" is actually the nervous system trying to restore order after an overwhelming surge of dopamine and epinephrine. Your money behaviour is wired into your DNA: Our ability to handle risk, stress, and wealth growth is heavily influenced by inherited neurotransmitter profiles rather than just mindset. Mastery requires balancing all four brain types: True financial stability and personal well-being come from integrating the Chaser, Protector, Receiver, and Bridge Builder profiles rather than operating solely from one dominant state. Objective brain training beats subjective belief work: Lasting behavioural change comes from regulating the nervous system through vagal toning, balanced goal setting, and bio-individual lifestyle adjustments. BEST MOMENTS "Your beliefs are secondary to the neurotransmitters and the experiences you've had in the past based on your DNA." "It's not that there's self-sabotage happening... from a neurochemistry standpoint, you have epinephrine and norepinephrine balancing out this massive surge of dopamine that the body can't maintain anymore." "You're using a 20-year-old brain for a 50-year-old body... That's creating a gap, and the biology tells you that." "When do you stop doing this brain training? Never. When do you stop lifting weights? When do you stop optimising? Never." VALUABLE RESOURCES Want to grow and scale your business? Emotional Intelligence for Dads Are you running yourself ragged trying to provide for your family, only to realize you're too exhausted to actually enjoy them? Dads, let's be honest. Somewhere between rushing to sports practices, managing screen time, and surviving the daily grind, the joy of parenting can get swallowed up. We want to build an incredible legacy, but chronic stress can make us reactive, frustrated, and disconnected. In this episode of The Impactful Parent, host Kristina Campos sits down with author, dad, and CPA Brian Gray to discuss his game-changing book, "Suck Less, Laugh More: A 4-Part Formula for Being a Great Dad." Brian opens up about his raw, personal journey of rebuilding his family from scratch when it was on the brink—not by following impossible parenting theories, but through the hard, rewarding work of emotional intelligence. Kristina and Brian break down the four core archetypes that live inside every father:

Why Jesus – Because Jesus is the Ultimate Protector
This episode is about what summer really represents for us; freedom, confidence, potential - and how to carry that energy into the rest of the year. I share a recent moment where I had to be direct instead of accommodating, the rumination spiral that followed, and the realization that set me free: sometimes there's no easy way out, so you might as well ruminate over standing up for yourself rather than over staying silent. From there I dive into Goddesses in Every Woman by Jean Shinoda Bolen and the Artemis archetype: the protector, the hunter, the part of us that refuses to be a victim in our own mind even after real harm. We talk boundaries, why kindness gets mistaken for weakness, and how to build the internal "I refuse to suffer" energy that Katniss and Wonder Woman embody in pop culture. If you're a recovering people-pleaser, an overthinker, or just need reminding that protecting yourself is an act of self-love, well then this one's for you. I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 23rd of June, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in that well-known scripture found in Psalm 20:7: ”Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.” Then we go to Acts 23:14: “They came to the chief priests and elders, and said, “We have bound ourselves under a great oath that we will eat nothing until we have killed Paul.” Forty men pledge that they will eat nothing, they will drink nothing, until they kill the apostle, Paul. But of course, Jesus is Paul's protector. He is also your protector and my protector. What happened was that a young boy, the son of Paul's sister, overheard the ambush that was going to take place and went to the Roman Commander and told them what was going to happen, and they took Paul out of the city. They protected him. Isn't that beautiful? The Lord protects you and me often, and we do not even know that He is doing it. We will know when we get to Heaven. We just thank Him every day for protecting our families, our children, our parents, the widows and the orphans. He is our protection.Remember that story of the preacher named William Duma who operated on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal? He was going on a bus to another preaching appointment. He was in the middle of the sugarcane fields, sitting in the front of the bus on the passenger side, when all of a sudden, the Holy Spirit impressed upon him to get off the bus immediately. So he pulled the emergency wire. The bus driver came to an abrupt halt. There was dust flying all over the place. The bus driver was very angry. “Who pulled the emergency wire, right in the middle of the sugarcane fields?” There were no houses, no village anywhere near to be seen. This little preacher put up his hand. He said, “It was me. I have to get off the bus.” The driver said, “Are you mad? You are in the middle of nowhere.” "Well,” he said, “the Lord told me I have to get off.” Well, he opened the door and pushed William Duma out, threw his suitcase after him, slammed the door, put the bus into gear and roared off with a cloud of dust, and the little man of God stood there wondering, “Why have You done this, Lord?” But do you know that the bus went round the corner, and it wasn't a couple of kilometres away when it had a head-on collision with a truck coming from the opposite direction, and the worst damage was right in the passenger seat, in the front row, right next to where the bus driver was seated. William Duma would have died instantly. It was not his time. Don't be afraid today, call upon the name of the Lord. He will send His angels to protect you. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.

What I couldn't overlook was how bad the film was from a technical standpoint.
In navigating the complexities of spiritual warfare, it's crucial to make informed choices and truly understand the underlying dynamics at play. Welcome to Day 2863 of Wisdom-Trek. Thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom. Day 2863 – Wisdom Nuggets – Psalm 127:1-5 – Daily Wisdom Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2863 Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2863 of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. The title for today's Wisdom-Trek is: The Song of Ascent – The Architect, the Watchman, and the Warrior In our previous episode on this grand expedition, we climbed through the seventh Song of Ascent, Psalm One Hundred Twenty-Six. We stood in the tension of the “already, but not yet,” remembering the unbelievable, dream-like rescue of God's people from exile, while desperately praying for a fresh outpouring of His grace. We learned the profound, agricultural lesson of the sower. We discovered that in the contested territory of this fallen world, we often have to plant our seeds in tears, exhausted by the spiritual warfare around us. Yet, we anchored our souls to the unbreakable, cosmic guarantee that those who weep as they plant will eventually return singing, carrying a massive, joyful harvest. Today, we take our next deliberate steps upward on this ancient pilgrim trail. We are exploring the eighth song in this magnificent collection. We are turning our attention to Psalm One Hundred Twenty-Seven, verses one through five, in the New Living Translation. Interestingly, this specific psalm is attributed to King Solomon. Solomon was the ultimate builder of the ancient world; he built the glorious Temple, fortified cities, and amassed unprecedented wealth. Yet, in this psalm, he pauses to deliver a sobering warning about the futility of human ambition. He teaches us that building a physical empire, or a lasting family legacy, is entirely useless if the Architect of the cosmos is not the one holding the blueprints. Let us step onto the trail, and learn how to build a legacy that actually lasts. The first segment is: The Futility of Autonomous Ambition Psalm One Hundred Twenty-Seven: verses one and two. Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the Lord protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good. It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones. This magnificent stanza opens with a definitive, double-sided declaration of human limitation. “Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the Lord protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good.” To truly grasp the weight of these words, we must view them through the lens of the Ancient Israelite worldview, specifically regarding the Divine Council and the cosmic rebellion. When human beings attempt to build a house, a dynasty, or a fortified city without the authorization and the active presence of Yahweh, they are essentially repeating the catastrophic sin of the Tower of Babel. At Babel, humanity sought to build a localized empire, a massive tower to reach the heavens, in order to make a great name for themselves, completely autonomous from the Creator. That act of autonomous ambition resulted in God disinheriting the nations, confusing their languages, and placing them under the jurisdiction of lesser, rebel spiritual principalities, the fallen elohim. Therefore, any city, or any human institution, built outside the cosmic order of God, is inherently vulnerable. It belongs to the chaotic, unstable realm of the rebel gods. You can hire the greatest architects, lay the thickest foundation stones, and post the most highly trained sentries on the walls, but if the Most High God is not the active Protector of that territory, the entire enterprise is spiritually bankrupt. It is destined to collapse into the dust. This reality brings us to the deeply psychological, and practical, observation in verse two. “It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.” The rebel gods of the surrounding pagan cultures demanded endless, anxious labor from their followers. The deities of Canaan, Egypt, and Babylon were viewed as cruel taskmasters, requiring constant sacrifices and frantic appeasement just to ensure the rains would fall, and the crops would grow. The kingdom of darkness thrives on human anxiety. It wants you waking up before dawn, terrified of failure, and going to bed late, exhausted and consumed by the stress of basic survival. But Solomon, the wisest king of Israel, calls this frantic, autonomous striving “useless.” It is vanity. It is chasing the wind. He draws a sharp, beautiful contrast between the oppressive systems of the world, and the loving economy of Yahweh. “For God gives rest to his loved ones.” Other translations say, “He provides for His beloved even in his sleep.” The God of the Bible is not a cruel taskmaster. He is the loving Father who provides Shalom—complete, restful wholeness. This does not mean that believers are called to be lazy. We are called to be diligent, responsible stewards of creation. But the motivation changes entirely. We do not work out of a suffocating, paralyzing fear of starvation, or a desperate need to build our own autonomous empires. We work from a place of profound rest, knowing that the Sovereign Lord is the ultimate Provider, and that He is intimately guarding the house we are building. The second segment is: The Divine Gift and the Rejection of the Fertility Cults Psalm One Hundred Twenty-Seven: verse three. Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him. Suddenly, the psalm pivots. Solomon shifts the metaphor from building a physical house out of stones and cedar, to building a household, a dynasty, made out of human lives. He declares, “Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.” In our modern culture, we might read this simply as a sweet, sentimental statement about the joy of parenting. But in the ancient Near East, this was a massive, aggressive theological claim. It was an act of profound spiritual warfare. The nations surrounding Israel were deeply entrenched in fertility cults. They worshiped gods like Baal and Asherah, believing that these localized, rebel deities controlled the womb, the rain, and the harvest. When a couple wanted to conceive a child, they would participate in the corrupt, often deeply immoral, rituals of the pagan temples, frantically trying to manipulate the gods into granting them fertility. By stating that “Children are a gift from the Lord,” the psalmist is explicitly stripping all power and authority away from the false gods of Canaan. He is reminding the pilgrims that Baal has absolutely no jurisdiction over human life. The womb is not controlled by the chaotic forces of nature; it is the exclusive, sovereign domain of Yahweh. Every single child is a direct, intentional inheritance, and a precious reward, handed down by the Creator of the universe. To build a family legacy, you do not turn to the frantic, anxious practices of the world; you look upward, to the Giver of all good things. The third segment is: The Warrior's Quiver and the Expansion of the Kingdom Psalm One Hundred Twenty-Seven: verses four and five. Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior's hands. How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them! He will not be put to shame when he confronts his accusers at the city gates. Having established the divine origin of the family, Solomon introduces one of the most striking, martial metaphors in the entire Psalter. “Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior's hands.” Why does he compare children to weapons of war? Because, in the biblical worldview, raising a family is not a neutral, passive activity. It is an act of strategic, generational combat. The world is contested territory, deeply infected by the lies, the injustice, and the chaotic rebellion of the dark spiritual principalities. When you raise children in the fear and admonition of the Lord, you are intentionally shaping imagers of God, preparing them to push back against the darkness. Consider the nature of an arrow. An arrow is not meant to be kept safely inside the quiver forever. A warrior carefully shapes the shaft, balances the weight, sharpens the arrowhead, and attaches the fletching. All of this meticulous, grueling preparation is done for one specific purpose: to launch the arrow outward, into enemy...
