David spent his twenties traveling between China and the US, and has grown into a dad with two lovely daughters from the amateur expat he was. This episode briefly touches on his stories through the lens of an anthropologist, a working professional, a young parent, and etc. As he moved back and forth between the two largest entities, his roles were dynamically changing and has now put on more different hats when juggling around life. This episode is a toast to the golden age of creative freedom and to the courage to embrace reality. Happy (belated) International Women’s Day! Our friend Cyd took us back to her life in Ethopia and shared how it was quite an unexpected journey for a Westerner. The three of us also talked about processing grief, safety concerns, life as an athlete, and other intimate topics. Although the conversation was recorded in August 2020, we still feel the emotions preserved through our voices when listening back to it today. Cate and Veronika met in 2012 in England. They were both new, as it turns out, were both Czech. But Czech is a language spoken only by ten million people in a small country situated between Germany and Austria. So what does it mean to be Czech to Veronika who had grown up in Bucharest, Budapest, Johannesburg, Moscow and London? What does being Czech mean to Cate when everyone only saw her as American despite her never having lived there before 2015? Gab met Tian in summer, 2018, after she had her second near-death experience in Cape Town, South Africa. During her darkest moments in life, Tian's kindness to her as a stranger gave her hope and light, and helped her rebuild trust with the world right after the accident. Two years later, the two friends caught up like old pals, and had a very fluid but fun conversation. In addition, Gab would love to honor this episode to Tian, to Cape Town, and to all the beautiful, loving people she met there...Thank you, Tian, Nosi, Zozo, Cordelia, Natasha, and so many others.for being part of my life!
