On July 31st, Corner of the Galaxy recorded a show in front of a live audience at Taps Brewery in Tustin, CA. The guys get to talk about the Galaxy's win over the Portland Timbers on Friday night and about the roster on the field for that game. But they don't do it alone! Joining Josh, Eric, and Larry, and in front of our outdoor audience are LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese and Galaxy Goalkeeping Coach/Legend Kevin Hartman. With te Kloese, the guys discuss the roster moves made for Julian Araujo and Efrain Alvarez and how that could turn into another U-22 signing in Dejan Jovelijć. Dennis will talk about his contract year and whether he wants to stay and continue the building process, as well. After Dennis leaves, Kevin Hartman sits down to discuss the Galaxy's goalkeepers and what he sees as part of the coaching staff that has the current Galaxy squad believing in themselves. Both interviews are a great way to hear from the guys who continue to shape the 2021 team. Then Josh, Eric, and Larry close out the rest of the show with a lot of talk about the 4-1 win over the Timbers and play some fun trivia games! We give out tickets. We give out some scarves. We play "Galaxy Survivor" with the crowd. It was a wonderful day getting to hang out with a 100 or so podcast and Galaxy fans, Cozmo, and some important people to the Galaxy. Thanks for joining us. And if you missed it this time, make sure you catch our next LIVE EVENT!

After Dennis and Kathy read the scripture passages from Genesis 9:3-17 and Mark 1:9-15, Rachel shared a story of the ark, reminding us that many of us have been isolating from others for well more than 40 days due to the pandemic. This year has felt like a year of living in the ark. But there is a also connection between Lent and the animals on the ark. Rachel drew from the work of Gayle Boss, who provided stories of endangered animals in Wild Hope: Stories for Lent from the Vanishing. This Lent, may we find our place in the family of things on earth, and find it to be a safe resting.

The O’Reilly Bots Podcast: X.ai founder on personal assistant agents that schedule your meetings. In this episode of the O’Reilly Bots Podcast, I speak with Dennis Mortensen, founder and CEO of x.ai, a personal assistant bot that handles meeting scheduling through email. Discussion points: Social considerations for personal assistants and the bots that stand in for them x.ai users can call their virtual assistant either “Amy” or “Andrew.” Mortensen says users overwhelmingly choose the name of the opposite gender. (But for the most part, he says, it’s only male users who flirt with the bot.) The goal: agents that carry over conversations from one channel or platform to another (like continuing an email conversation in Slack) Humans in the loop: how x.ai’s 40 human “trainers” review scheduling-related data and train the response algorithm How the scheduling bot attempts to guide conversations in order to improve outcomes Other Links The Call for Speakers for the O'Reilly Artificial Intelligence Conference, June 26-29, 2017 After Dennis and I spoke, Microsoft launched a similar service that uses Cortana to schedule meetings.

Dennis Hof Bunny Ranch Denise is out of town planning her daughter's wedding, so today it's just No Filter Paul and Big A, as well as Paul's nephew Christian. We check out some news, and then get a phone call from the great Dennis Hof from the Moonlite Bunny Ranch in Nevada. He tells us some fun stories from the ranch, including the three-way with Ron Jeremy and Jim Norton. He also tells us about some of the girls that are at the ranch now, and some of the strange going's on there. After Dennis gets off the phone we spend the rest of the show talking about more news, and watching some fun news stories. We encourage Christian to admit he's gay, but instead he just gives us 50 more reasons to think he is - especially when we read a story about a bionic penis, and Christian demands to see a cock picture. We finish by sitting and waiting for Christian to come out, but he refuses!

CEO’s and executives run at a phenomenal pace to make performance happen but what happens when you stop and listen to those who, through their social relationships and knowledge, create the results that executive performance is measured by? Dennis Sandow is a social biologist who has been conducting social action research for the last thirty years. After Dennis was introduced to Chilean biologist Dr Humberto Maturana in the mid-80s, began to apply biological principles to his research. His company, Reflexus, applies social action research to help companies improve social collaboration in widely dispersed social networks and understand how companies create social, biological and financial well-being. His research is focused on understanding the whole system and how well-being is generated. Where there is well-being; there is performance. Dennis is a brilliant listener who has the presence to shift awareness through his presence. As simple as this skill sounds, there is more to it than meets the eye. At the heart of it, it is a matter of caring and holding compassion for each person. Relationships are relationships. That’s what creates performance!
