And did the two-forward set do everything and more for the LA Galaxy? On today's show, we've got a packed schedule. Hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira have 120 minutes of Galaxy-talk on the way for you because there was only one show this week, thanks to some weird game schedules. So on a Wednesday night, we bring you all the hectic Galaxy news you need to know. The guys will start by talking to TheStriker.com's Managing Editor Phil West about how that subscription-based service is coming to Los Angeles. And why they think LA is the perfect place to expand their coverage outside of Texas. Then Josh and Eric want to break down the 4-4-2 and talk about the 4-0 win over Montreal. How did Javier Hernandez and Dejan Joveljic play together? And why will Greg Vanney use that formation sparingly? Plus, did a meeting with Efrain Alvarez point the youngster in the right direction? Will his aggressive game against Montreal be the stepping stone to a longer MLS career? Then the guys want to talk about the transfer rumors that saw Uruguayan defensive midfielder Gaston Brugman sign with the team on Wednesday and why Jesse Lingard rumors aren't fake. But can the Galaxy get him over the line? And is this simply a reaction to LAFC signing Gareth Bale? And Josh will kill some other rumors that have been hanging around while passing down some of the conversations that were had with Vanney over a long sit-down on Saturday afternoon. Finally, Josh and Eric will get you ready for El Trafico on Friday night and tell you why the Galaxy have the least amount of pressure they've had going into one of these games in a while. Can the "mental midgets" finally pressure the Galaxy in a game this year?

A 25th-minute red card to Kevin Cabral threw the game- already 1-0 to the visitors- into even greater disarray. But could some positives come out of a second half that was reminiscent of some of the better performances the Galaxy have had this year? Is scoring two goals while down a man enough of a gut check for this team? And has Greg Vanney already lost the team? On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and special guest host Nikki Kay (SpectrumSN sports/sideline reporter) want to talk about this wild Galaxy game. Josh and Nikki will start by reminding everyone that the transfer window is open, and Nikki will tell you what Vanney is expecting from a new defensive midfielder. Then it's a deep dive into some of the good and a lot of the bad of the game against Minnesota. What did Nikki see from the sidelines? What reaction did the team provide in the last 45 minutes? And is the clock ticking on Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez to start scoring goals and looking dangerous? Then Josh and Nikki want to prepare you for Spectrum's coverage of the July 4th matchup between LA and CF Montreal. Can a Montreal side that just outplayed Seattle falter against a Galaxy team that can't decide if they're good or not? We've got a lot to talk about, and we'll need you to listen along!

AABP Executive Director Dr. Fred Gingrich is joined by AABP Vice President and Preconference Seminar Chair Dr. Michael Capel to discuss the preconference seminars that will be offered at the upcoming AABP Annual Conference in Long Beach, Calif. The seminars are held Sunday through Wednesday Sept. 18-21, 2022 prior to the conference Sept. 22-24. We discuss how the seminars we took during our careers tremendously impacted our practice lives, both in continuing education content teaching us skills to advance our practice, as well as networking and meeting experts and colleagues in the field. Preconference seminars can be added to a regular conference registration, or you can sign up for a seminar registration to take a seminar and then send another member in your practice to the conference sessions. Descriptions of the preconference seminars can be found at this link. A total of 14 preconference seminars are available and each will be approved for 8 hours per day of continuing education. Nine of the seminars are new or reworked versions of previous seminars so there should be something of interest to all beef and dairy veterinarians. Register for the conference and seminars on this page. Preconference seminars with an inadequate number of participants are subject to cancellation up until August 12, so enroll today! Seminars will either be held in the Long Beach Convention Center of the Hyatt headquarters hotel. Reserve your room in the AABP hotel block at this link.

After surviving the Portland Timbers, surely an energized Galaxy side would be able to handle a lower division Sacramento Republic side. Not so fast. In fact, really slow and plodding. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Christian Miles discuss the many ways the Galaxy failed to meet the intensity of a US Open Cup game that was played just about as perfectly as you could have hoped by USL side Sacramento Republic. What did Greg Vanney see on the night, and why are several players who may have just played themselves out of playing time down the stretch? And what did the loss reveal about the Galaxy's summer needs? Will they be going for a Central Attacking Midfielder (CAM)? And should you be worried about them finding the right piece? Also, Josh and Christian will talk about the postponed Cali-Clasico and the likely reason the Galaxy aren't headed to a different stadium to play this weekend. And surprise... it's about MONEY. We've got a packed show of reaction, analysis, and criticism of a team that doesn't have all the pieces they need and why they should be tired of waiting for other pieces to come around. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman (LA Galaxy beat writer) and Kevin Baxter (LA Times Soccer Reporter) discuss the Galaxy's battle against the Timbers and why head coach Greg Vanney probably didn't see the game the same way you did. What did fans make of the combination of Dejan Joevljic and Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez? And why was the midfield once again at the center of the post-game discussion? Is the 3-5-2 the solution to everyone's problems? But does that also mean the Galaxy need a central attacking midfielder? Does Vanney want a CAM? Josh and Kevin will walk you through some of the charts that tell the story of the Galaxy through the first 15 games, and they'll whisper about how loud Joveljic is with his scoring streak. Then the guys shift to looking at a stingy Sacramento side led by former LA Galaxy Defender Todd Dunivant. Will the President of the Sacramento Republic make his former club nervous when they come to town playing the exact type of soccer with which the Galaxy have trouble? Join our warm and timely conversation with the author of the wise and compelling book "The Crisis of the Two Constitutions: The Rise, Decline, and Recovery of American Greatness," Dr. Charles Kesler, Ph.D. (A link to that book is available below). Charles is a Harvard man. He studied at Harvard for all his degrees culminating in the Ph.D. in Government, and serves as the Dengler-Dykema Distinguished Professor of Government at Claremont McKenna College, which in my humble view is the best member of the Consortium of The Claremont Colleges in Claremont, California. His prior books include Saving the Revolution, a Signet Classic edition of The Federalist Papers with his Introduction, and more recently a book on how to understand President Obama within the context of the different epochs of Progressivism/Liberalism called "I am the Change: Barack Obama and the Crisis of Liberalism." (Links to these books are available below). Dr. Kesler also writes a regular editor's introduction to each issue of The Claremont Review of Books, which comes out four times a year, winter, spring, summer, and fall. Each short essay is beautifully written, often dryly humorous, always insightful and engaging. If you do not yet subscribe to the publication, in my correct view, you're missing out on delightful substance. For instance, one can read online *if necessary*, but the Review comes out in an attractive physical copy delivered by mail peppered with quality artwork, made of sturdy material, salted with the lighthearted depth that keeps one abreast of the times and yet moves one in deeper understanding and appreciation of truths past, present, and future. It has a timeliness and at the same time a timelessness about it. In this TRP episode, Charles tells us what he means by "the two Constitutions": There's "The Founder's Constitution," and by contrast there's now, also "The Progressive's Constitution." They are not the same constitution, and thus must be distinguished. Doing so helps to unpack an explanation for political and cultural phenomena that might otherwise go unnoticed or misunderstood. We more or less follow the outline of the book. Worth the price of the tome by itself, Dr. Kesler offers "What's Wrong With Conservativism." Included are thoughts about Reagan, Bush, and Trump, including an anecdote by your TRP host of sitting in Professor Kesler's class in Spring of 2016 as he predicted, early in the semester, to every undergraduate's astonishment, that Trump would beat Hillary (as well as a rationale). The Republican Professor is a pro-correctly-understanding-American-Politics, pro-coming-to-terms-with-what's-wrong-with-Conservativism, pro-more-deeply-appreciating-the-design-of-The-Founder's-Constitution-as-opposed-to-its-"Progressive"-alternative podcast. Therefore, welcome Charles Kesler ! Though the book is available at your local brick and mortar bookstore, here's the Amazon link to Dr. Kelser's book "Crisis of the Two Constitutions": https://www.amazon.com/Crisis-Two-Constitutions-Recovery-Greatness/dp/164177102X/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=crisis+of+the+two+constitutions&qid=1655756321&s=books&sprefix=crisis+of+the+two+%2Cstripbooks%2C176&sr=1-1 Here's a link to Kesler's Signet Classic edition of The Federalist Papers, with helpful collated notes with the text of the Constitution: https://www.amazon.com/byAlexander-HamiltonThe-Federalist-Papers-Paperback/dp/B003212Y6W/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=the+federalist+papers+charles+kesler&qid=1655759499&s=books&sprefix=the+federa%2Cstripbooks%2C176&sr=1-4 This is the link to Professor Kesler's important precursor book on President Obama: https://www.amazon.com/Am-Change-Barack-Crisis-Liberalism/dp/006207296X/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid&sr And The Claremont Review of Books awaits your subscription for a modest price (compared to what you get) here: https://claremontreviewofbooks.com/ The Republican Professor podcast is produced and hosted by Dr. Lucas J. Shellie Baxter started Our Genetic Legacy (OGL) in 2018 in response to her frustration with the lack of recognition and the disenfranchisement of BIPOC Americans in American history. OGL creates projects that expose and publish lost family legacies of BIPOC Americans in order to diversify, correct and expand the current history of the United States to include all Americans. Ms. Baxter's own family legacy story, knowing the struggles her ancestors overcame for her to even exist, ignites her passion to help others find their legacy. Under the umbrella of OGL, Shelli has world tirelessly to produce “We The People: Teaching U.S. History Through the Ancestral Stories of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color.” This textbook is a 100% BIPOC-authored and edited U.S. history book written by the BIPOC pioneers of the U.S. It will be the first U.S. history book that uses DNA to integrate the stories of everyday BIPOC into the official storyline of the United States of America. Additionally, in 2023, she will be launching We The People (a virtual museum), where they will be introducing a design contest for a $10,000 prize. Additional details can be found here.  Exhibitions of historical sites significant in BIPOC California history will be produced by the DRONe Project, Descendants Recovering Our Names, a paid workforce development program. The program was created for young women ages 16 to 18 living in San Diego, Calif. who want to become drone pilots and work as digital historic preservationists skilled in the use of LiDAR-enabled drones. LiDAR uses lasers and light to create visual images of the earth's surface that are invisible to the naked eye. Participants will use the same technology that was used by National Geographic to recover lost Mayan civilizations in Guatemala. Additional information can be found here. They are currently accepting applications for 20 spots. Applications must be confirmed through an online interview process and the application period will remain open until the confirmed capacity is reached. Lastly, Shellie runs The History Makers' Workshop, and will begin conducting workshops with 8th- and 11th-grade students beginning late June 2022 at Hoover High School in partnership with First Gen Scholars. Shellie is mother to two hard working women and has spent most of her life as a stay-at-home mother to the girls. This is her story.

And that means the podcast has to gear up for another game week. So as the Galaxy slowly work their way toward their match with the Portland Timbers, we want to get you out of this international break. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter want to tie up any loose ends and finally put his extended break to bed. The guys will start with some more observations on the Galaxy's win over Austin FC and why Dejan Joveljic is practically screaming at Greg Vanney to let him start. What do the stats say about Joveljic's scoring prowess in recent games? And does that mean more minutes for the Galaxy's chess-minded striker? Josh and Kevin will also dive into some updates on the Galaxy's group of internationals and why Efrain Alvarez's stint with the U-21s isn't a great sign for the club. Plus, did Julian Araujo finally find the field for Mexico? And why three young Galaxy players are fighting for Olympic and U-20 World Cup spots. Finally, the guys want to start looking ahead to who the Galaxy may chase in the transfer market this summer. And why Josh thinks there could be a big splash on a short-term contract. Do you feel like this 2022 team is better than last year? Are they passing the eye test? We've got a packed show ready for your listening and viewing pleasure. So let's get started.
