But here the LA Galaxy are after another frustrating loss to Austin on Saturday morning. And there doesn't seem to be much to save them as they flirt with playing shorthanded again this weekend. In this episode, Jim Garrity highlights three brand new deposition-related court rulings. The first presents the question of whether witnesses and their counsel can be prohibited from discussing the witnesses' testimony during recesses. The second addresses the propriety of asking foundational questions of privilege-bearing deponents to determine if the assertion of privilege is legitimate; the opinion explains what "foundational" questions are, gives examples, and details the procedure for deposing such witnesses and then presenting the issue to a court for decision. The third case in the spotlight highlights an avoidable problem when a lawyer seeks to depose an individual who has already testified in a 30(b)(6) capacity. Citations to the cases appear in today's show notes. Thanks for listening.SHOW NOTESVillareal v. Jonathan Moulton, the Superintendent at Martis Camp in Truckee, Calif., discussed the challenges of managing a golf course in a climate that experiences extreme weather conditions, including significant snowfall and temperature fluctuations. He highlighted the impact of climate change on their region, noting less monsoonal rain and more record-breaking weather events. Moulton detailed their strategies for transitioning the course from winter dormancy to playable conditions, including the use of black sand and compost for snow melt and the monitoring of ice damage. He also mentioned their efforts to balance sustainability with efficiency and the importance of planning and flexibility in their operations. Also in the news … A Colorado club completes a multi-million-dollar transformation. The Pinery Country Club in Parker, Colo., created an open clubhouse flow that fosters a warm, social club culture. The fireplace lounge flows to the bar, allowing members to gather spontaneously, while the outdoor patio has been renovated as an extension of the main dining room, with seating for 100 guests. Indigo Sports, a Troon company, will oversee golf operations, agronomy, food and beverage, and sales and marketing at The Salt Pond Golf Club, a daily-fee course in Bethany Beach, Del. Legend has it that in the '70s, there was this dude in a bunny suit terrorizing people with an axe. Like, imagine encountering a fluffy bunny with a weapon – nightmare material, right? The story goes that he escaped from a mental institution, and now he's haunting this bridge, or at least that's the spooky tale locals tell. Some say it's just an urban legend, but others swear they've seen the Bunny Man lurking around. Whether it's a creepy myth or a bunny with a dark side, Virginia's Bunny Man story is definitely not your average campfire tale.

A play in Burbank, Calif. exposes the frustrations Native Americans often express about the ongoing tragedy of Missing and Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP). The largely Native production, Four Women In Red, portrays a group of women who learn they're largely alone in finding out information about missing loved ones. The play comes at a time of job cuts for Department of Interior officials and federal law enforcement officers. At the same time, the Trump Administration announced new efforts to identify remains of Missing and Murdered Indigenous People and reunite them with their families. Some states, including New Mexico, are making moves to reinforce their efforts to solve MMIP crimes.

When David Muhammad was 15, his mother moved from Oakland, Calif., to Philadelphia with her boyfriend, leaving Muhammad in the care of his brothers, ages 20 and 21, both of whom were involved in the drug scene. Over the next two years, Muhammad was arrested three times — for selling drugs, attempted murder and illegal gun possession. For Muhammad, life turned around. He wound up graduating from Howard University, running a nonprofit in Oakland called the Mentoring Center and serving in the leadership of the District of Columbia's Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services. Then he returned to Oakland for a two-year stint as chief probation officer for Alameda County, in the same system that once supervised him.Muhammad's unlikely elevation came during a remarkable, if largely overlooked, era in the history of America's juvenile justice system. Between 2000 and 2020, the number of young people incarcerated in the United States declined by an astonishing 77 percent. Can that progress be sustained — or is America about to reverse course and embark on another juvenile incarceration binge?
