And the first stop is St. Louis, where they're tossing $2-million at Joao Klauss in hopes the 28-year-old striker can answer all their goal-scoring problems. But is the DP too big a spot to spend on an MLS striker who has never scored more than 10 goals in a season? On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira discuss the Galaxy's interest in Klauss and why his DP contract could be a longer-term player for the striker than just this year. But what about the 10 spot? What about Jakob Glesnes and Justin Haak? Can John Nelson's new contract mean Julian Aude's time with LA is limited? We begin our study of open carry in America's Constitutional tradition by spending time with Baird v. Bonta (2 Jan 2026, 9th Circuit) thru the top of page 11 (up to Roman Numeral II). The pro-Second-Amendment opinions, both of them that we take a look at, were written by Republican appointees (Trump, Republican US Senate). We will pick up at page 11 and Roman Numeral II at that time. This episode and this series is dedicated to the memory of my closest first cousin, Little Dan Mountain Jr, closest in age by just a couple of weeks, who died a week ago today, last Thursday. I picked a topic that would bring a smile to his face and that would honor the bright spots in our childhood together in Colorado. This episode includes a reading from Psalm 29 (KJV) and Streams in the Desert January 24th (Cowman Publications, Lost Feliz Station Lost Angeles, Calif, 1925 -- non-woke edition). The Republican Professor is a pro-Second-Amendment-in-California podcast. The Republican Professor is produced and hosted by Dr. Lucas J. Mather, Ph.D.

The Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians just cut the ribbon in October for 40 new affordable housing units in Salem, Oreg. And Oakland, Calif. is working on 76 new homes for low-income Native Americans attached to a Native health facility. The surge in projects specifically geared toward urban Native Americans is meant to offset barriers that disproportionately affect their ability to keep a roof over their heads. Rose Marie Berger, Senior Editor of Sojourners magazine, is a Catholic peace activist and poet who has worked within social justice movements for more than 40 years. She is the volume editor of Light for the Way: Seeking Simplicity, Connection, and Repair in a Broken World and joins MaryB. to discuss how the book extends the conversations long discussed within the Sojourners community, out into the world while asking what it means to live authentically in this day and age. This discussion explores several paradoxes: the need for isolation and contemplation in order to better serve community, the gifts and deep flaws that exist simultaneously within the established church, and the ways faith can deepen through disillusionment. MaryB. and Rose's conversation invites listeners to understand that learning to live with these paradoxes is an essential part of growth.Rose Marie Berger is a Catholic poet, writer, and peace activist who has worked for social change movements for 40 years. She is poetry editor and senior editor for Sojourners, a magazine whose mission is to inspire hope and action by articulating the biblical call to social justice. In this episode, we explore how ski areas are using artificial intelligence to better understand performance, streamline reporting, and make more informed decisions across their operations. This conversation comes from SAM and Eternity's Ski Resort AI Bootcamp session held in October 2025, where industry leaders gathered to share practical examples of how AI is being applied across resort operations. As resorts collect more data than ever—from ticketing and marketing to weather and staffing—the challenge has shifted from access to insight. AI is opening new possibilities, but it also raises important questions about data governance, security, and responsible use. In this conversation, SAM publisher Olivia Rowan is joined by three industry leaders to discuss how they're applying AI in practical, meaningful ways: Dave Amirault, Chief Innovation Officer, SNOW Partners Michael Anselmi, Vice President, Revenue Strategy and Business Development, Boyne Resorts Matt Peterson, Vice President of Marketing, Palisades Tahoe, Calif. They share real-world examples of how better data structure leads to faster decision-making, where AI is already delivering value, and what resorts should be thinking about as these tools continue to evolve.
News and Updates: California Data Privacy Law- California's new Delete Act lets residents demand mass deletion of personal data from brokers via one website, signaling the strongest U.S. pushback yet against covert data surveillance. iRobot Bankruptcy & Privacy Fears- iRobot's bankruptcy and acquisition by Chinese supplier Picea raise alarms over Roomba home-mapping data security, despite CEO assurances data stays U.S.-hosted and privacy practices remain unchanged. Prison Cell Phone Jamming Debate- Wireless carriers warn FCC prison phone jamming proposals would block all communications, including 911, arguing managed access systems already stop contraband phones without disrupting lawful wireless, Wi-Fi, or GPS signals. Microsoft 365 Copilot Branding Confusion- Microsoft did not rename Office to Copilot, but confusing app rebrands and Office.com messaging blurred lines between Microsoft 365 subscriptions and the Microsoft 365 Copilot hub app. Tesla Loses “Cybercab” Trademark- Tesla lost its Cybercab trademark after filing late, allowing a French company to claim it, another branding stumble following earlier failures to trademark “Robotaxi” for being overly generic.
Guest Spotlight Today's episode features a conversation between Crosspoint host Josh Jackson and LTC Brittany Simmons, USA (Ret.). Brittany served 20 years in the Army Military Police Corps, including deployment to Iraq as a platoon leader from 2004-2005. In this episode, Brittany challenges the common individualistic reading of the Armor of God passage in Ephesians 6. Drawing from her combat experience and understanding of Roman military formations, she explains why Paul's analogy was always meant to be understood not only individually, but also collectively—as a unit linking shields together, not isolated soldiers fighting alone. She discusses finding battle buddies, the danger of spiritual isolation, and practical ways to intentionally build Christian community whether you're actively serving, recently relocated, or settled in one place. Brittany also mentions two upcoming events, which women can attend for Biblical teaching, fellowship, and more: OCF Leading Women: 20-22 March at White Sulphur Springs in Manns Choice, Pa. Summer Celebration #4B (Women's Track): 28 June-3 July at Spring Canyon in Buena Vista, Colo. If you would like to share your own story, complete the form on OCF's "Be a Guest" webpage. Alternatively, if you have an idea for a guest or topic we should consider for a future episode of the show, send an email to podcast@ocfusa.org. Points to ponder As you listen to this conversation with Brittany, here are a few questions to ponder in your personal time, with a small group, or with a mentor: When you read Ephesians 6:10-18, do you naturally think of individual armor or collective defense? Why? Who are the "battle buddies" in your spiritual life right now—people you're intentionally linking shields with? Brittany mentions that in combat, soldiers who go off alone become the most vulnerable. Where in your spiritual life might you be trying to fight alone? How does understanding prayer as "communication with the Commander" change the way you approach it—both individually and collectively? What's one practical step you could take this week to find or deepen community with other believers? How might your military experience give you unique insight to share with civilian Christians about the power of working together? Congress returned from its holiday break facing a familiar question: whether to extend the expanded subsidies for Affordable Care Act health plans that expired at the end of 2025. Meanwhile, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. broke a promise to Bill Cassidy (R-La.), the chairman of Senate health committee, by overhauling the federal government's childhood vaccine schedule to reduce the number of diseases for which vaccines will be recommended. Lauren Weber of The Washington Post, Alice Miranda Ollstein of Politico, and Sarah Karlin-Smith of Pink Sheet join KFF Health News' Julie Rovner to discuss those stories and more. #556

Haak plays both as a midfielder and a centerback. And this certainly has the makings of a possible 5-man backline with three quality centerbacks. So what could Greg Vanney do with his newfound defense? Hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss the big changes coming to the Galaxy's defense and why the moves don't seem to be over yet. During World War II, Japanese Americans were held captive in 10 internment camps throughout the US. Two of them in Arizona, built on reservations without tribal consent. In our last story, we heard how the Colorado River Indian Tribes (CRIT) in western Arizona have made a point to preserve the remnants of one such war-time prison. Today, KJZZ's Gabriel Pietrorazio takes us to the state's other site, which sits well-hidden in the shadows of Phoenix – slowly fading away atop of the Gila River Indian Community. He had the privilege to see this restricted site twice this year with the tribe's Wally Jones, who supervised his trip. “I can't give, really the location. I wanted to, but people do search it.” They first met in April at the Chevron gas station in Bapchule, Ariz. about 30 miles south of downtown Phoenix. The tribe did not allow KJZZ to record inside the camp itself, but Jones agreed to let Pietrorazio document their short ride there. No matter who is coming out, Jones stresses they're not tours. “This is not a tourist camp. This is a regulated entry that the department processes for the council's consideration for your visit. It's not just anyone can come out here. These are one of the few sites that the community allows non-members to come in and kind of experience what was here.” What was here in 1942 would've equated to Arizona's fourth-largest city, home to over 13,000 internees stuck in the Sonoran Desert. “The camp is not maintained. The community has decided to let nature recapture its natural state, but there are remnants of various barracks, facilities.” And there are at least 230 ornate garden ponds – now dried up – that prisoners built. “It always amazes me that we find these ponds out here, that it was a signal of their tradition and their hope that they would not let their culture fade away.” Seven months later, Pietrorazio returned – this time not on his own, but as a guest of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) in a caravan of at least 20 vehicles. Bill Staples Jr. is president of the JACL Arizona chapter. “And I was really touched by how emotionally connected the Gila River Indian Community was in welcoming the Japanese Americans…” Pietrorazio caught up with Staples at the tribe's Huhugam Heritage Center after a November ceremony. Also there, making the trip from Seattle, was 85-year-old camp survivor Sylvia Domoto. “They've been so welcoming and continue to respect and to keep the land there, so that we can say, ‘Yes, this really happened. It isn't just a fantasy.'” Suicide prevention sign and phone on the east sidewalk of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Calif. The measure requires the transportation and public health departments to identify best practices and countermeasures to avoid suicides on state bridges and overpasses. The bill by Assemblymember James Ramos (Serrano/Cahuilla/D-CA) builds on his previous work, which includes efforts to improve mental health services and the establishment of a suicide prevention office. #CaliforniaRealEstate #TenantRights #LandlordTenantLaw Are you a California tenant or landlord? Navigating the complex landscape of California rental laws can be a minefield. In this video, we break down the most common illegal actions landlords take—often without even realizing they are breaking the law. From rent control violations to retaliatory evictions, knowing these rules is essential for protecting your rights and avoiding costly legal battles. What We Cover: Illegal Rent Increases: Understanding the statewide rent control (AB 1482) vs. local ordinances, and the strict 30/90-day notice requirements. Notice Failures: Why failing to provide AB 1482 exemption notices can strip a landlord of the "Good Cause" to evict. Privacy Violations: The rules for 24-hour entry notices and what constitutes a true emergency. Security Deposit Traps: The 21-day return rule, itemization requirements, and why "non-refundable" deposits are a red flag. Retaliatory Evictions: Why punishing a tenant for exercising their legal rights (like complaining about habitability) can freeze your ability to evict for 180 days. Habitability & Discrimination: The legal consequences of ignoring repairs and failing to provide reasonable accommodations for disabled tenants. Illegal Lockouts: The severe risks of "self-help" evictions and cutting off essential utilities. Whether you are dealing with a security deposit dispute or a complex habitability issue, this guide provides the clarity you need on California's tenant protections. Calif Poncy is back with more NBA Observations as he and Gerald take on the latest topics in the NBA world. Tune in as the guys discuss what the trading market can be for the Lakers and other NBA teams now that, as of 12/15, 90% of the league becomes trade-eligible. They also discuss the NBA Cup and if San Antonio's victory over OKC this past weekend has opened up any holes for other teams when they look at how they play the Thunder. The guys talk about the Knicks' time in Vegas as well, and how their success can be built upon to possibly become the team to beat in the East. There are opinions as well about how the NBA has presented the NBA Cup in Las Vegas, and if the rumors of a return to NBA courts instead of a neutral one are the best way to go. Last, but certainly not least, they also discuss the rash of calf strains in the NBA and what the root cause may be: the pace of the game or something else. But the World Cup is coming to North America, and it's a chance for Major League Soccer and the LA Galaxy to figure out a way to tie themselves to the biggest tournament in the world. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter get you through the World Cup draw and right into the Concacaf Champions Cup draw. What are we looking for during the draw tomorrow? And why do the Galaxy want a later schedule that matches up with the Coachella Valley Invitational? But there is more than just draws for tournaments. The Galaxy are actively out in the transfer and trade markets as they look for the right pieces to make the 2026 Galaxy much better than last year. And MLS Cup hoists Miami and the League in front of the world. Is that good for everyone? Here. We. Go. -- Corner of the Galaxy is kicking off Season 17, just a few shows past number 1,250! We continue our discussion of an entry in the 1963 Rand McNally publication, edited by Leonard Strauss and Joseph Cropsey, called "History of Political Philosophy." This episode contains discussion of pages 72 thru the middle of page 80 covering Book I of the Politics. That entry on Aristotle is by Harry V. Jaffa, who famously applied his understanding of Political Philosophy to the history of the Republican Party in American politics, and who, as such, influenced me profoundly through my mentors, who were mentored by him. He is thus one of my intellectual grandfathers. We continue our discussion of Harry Jaffa on Aristotle, pp. 72 thru the middle of page 80 covering Book I of Aristotle's Politics, discussing an entry published the year before the author wrote one of the most infamous (or famous, depending) Aristotelean speeches for 1964 presidential candidate Barry Goldwater (R, AZ). Jaffa also wrote one of the most influential phenomenological comparisons of the Democratic and the Republican parties using classical political philosophy for the political phenomenology in "Crisis of the House Divided" (University of Chicago Press) This episode includes a reading from Psalm 143 (KJV) and Streams in the Desert January 22nd (Cowman Publications: Los Feliz Station Lost Angeles, Calif. 1925).
