Brendan Bullock, a photojournalist based out of Bowdoinham, Maine, has won many awards for his editorial work but his photo work doesn't stop there. He is also a wedding photographer but he likes to keep each business separate as each is a different form of photography. He may use the same cameras and techniques, but it is a different mindset when stepping into each setting. He has worked on many projects including a photojournalism project in Jaisalmer, India where he got to capture community and culture for editorial purposes. Episode 14 of Season 2 is all over the place! Though we start out (as a follow-up to our maltshop books episode) by talking about the wonderful old-time girls' book series from the great book packager, the Stratmeyer Syndicate (Nancy Drew, the Hardy Boys, the Bobbsey Twins and many more), we also talk about Kelly's book review of READY PLAYER ONE and READY PLAYER TWO, a far more dystopian view of our world! And we segue from there to getting writing work as an author working for a book packager (which Susan did early in her career); it's a great way to get on the map and grow some credits quickly! We even throw in the famous 'Pixar Story Structure', which applies to virtually every Pixar film (and many, many others) ever made!We also take a moment to discuss the banning of our TALK JAM episode 'I v e r mect i n and the Wall Street Revolution' from Spotify, one of the platforms where you can find this podcast (banned for 'violating their terms of service', whatever that means). We've been canceled for our beliefs--yay!! That must mean somebody's listening!!If you want to listen to that episode, though, please use this link to choose any OTHER platform to find TALK JAM EXCEPT Spotify (these include Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, iHeart Radio and Pandora):https://www.buzzsprout.com/749984/directories | Log in to BuzzsproutLog into your Buzzsprout account.www.buzzsprout.comA link to the Pixar story structure formula:https://medium.com/@Brian_G_Peters/6-rules-of-great-storytelling-as-told-by-pixar-fcc6ae225f50 | 6 Rules of Great Storytelling (As Told by Pixar) | by Brian G. This week we continue to look back at season two with one of Daniel’s favorite episodes. Team Hustle has been using the third party social media app, Buffer, since the beginning of the show to assist with our social media posting. From there we discovered Buffer has a podcast called “The Science of Social Media” co-hosted by our guest, Brian G Peters. Brian is the Strategic Partnerships Manager for Buffer and also the co-host of the popular Buffer podcast The Science of Social media, where Brian and his Co-Host, Hailley, break down news, analytical reports and anything else social media. Brian has led talks at several conference and has taught workshops, including a popular online course on the website, SkillShare. We discuss Brian's journey to his focus on Digital Marketing and Social Media. We talk about what he finds fascinating about social media, his joinery to working and the responsibilities he takes on for buffer and what it's like to have a job where you can literally make your office anywhere. We also interrogate, con and squeeze all kinds of tips, advice and thoughts on how YOU can improve your social media hustle.
