It's art, memory, and freedom.”On this episode Troy Meadows sits down with Malcolm Pascotti, founder of Can't Buy Cool Studios. Malcolm's journey is one of quiet evolution. He started as a road runner, lots of miles in high school and beyond, but during the pandemic, while living in San Francisco, he began exploring trails in the Marin Headlands and hills around Pacifica. That slow, natural shift eventually led him into mountain running and “DIY ultras” solo, self‑supported runs of 30–40 miles, all on his own terms. What makes Malcolm stand out isn't just distance or pace, but the way he mixes movement with creativity. Outside of running, he climbs, skis, scrambles, shoots photography (both professionally and for fun), writes poems and musings. He calls it living. He also quietly gives back to the community: providing gear and support to fellow runners, like when he ran a T-shirt sale to help fund race entries for another runner, proof that support doesn't always need spotlight.Malcolm is quietly building Can't Buy Cool Studios, weaving together art, running, identity, and community.Motivational HighlightsEmbrace adventure on your own terms — solo ultras don't have to be for trophies, they can be for the soul.Running can be part of a creative life — movement, art, writing, identity — all deeply connected.Quiet generosity matters: supporting others in small ways helps build a stronger, more inclusive community.Balance is messy but possible: holding down a full-time job, a creative process, and still getting out for the run.Links & ResourcesIG: @cantbuycoolstudiosWebsite: https://cantbuycoolstudios.com/Partner Links: Janji - Janji.comA big shoutout to our sponsor, Janji! Letting go after divorce isn't about willpower. It's about physiology.Your body won't release someone until it feels anchored somewhere safer than the place it's been clinging. And that's why cord-cutting rituals, no-contact declarations, and “I'm done for real this time” moments almost never stick. In this guided premium episode, we're not letting go into emptiness...we're letting go into self-belonging, the only place your nervous system actually trusts.Inside this practice, you'll experience:a guided drop-in to help your body feel held enough to releasewhy your system keeps reaching for someone who once felt like safetythe subtle shift that makes letting go feel possible, not terrifyinga “My Body Said No” moment that clarifies what part of you is resistingone sentence to use when you feel the urge to reach back outThis is the deeper work:not forcing yourself to let go...but giving your nervous system a safer place to land.Press play when you're ready to feel a real shift, not just think about one.Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MyCoachDawnInstagram: (@dawnwiggins)Instagram: (@coachtiffini)On the Web: https://www.mycoachdawn.comA podcast exploring the journey of life after divorce, delving into topics like divorce grief, loneliness, anxiety, manifesting, the impact of different attachment styles and codependency, setting healthy boundaries, energy healing with homeopathy, managing the nervous system during divorce depression, understanding the stages of divorce grief, and using the Law of Attraction and EMDR therapy in the process of building your confidence, forgiveness and letting go.Support the show✨Join the Cocoon Community - your people are waiting! ✨

If you've ever felt that tug toward your ex...not the man, but the idea of him...we've got you. That pull is your nervous system trying to finish a story it never got closure on. And after divorce, that pull gets loud.In this episode, we break down why trauma bonds feel like soul ties and why your body keeps reaching for someone who couldn't give you safety. You'll learn what's actually happening in your brain, why familiar pain feels magnetic, and how to interrupt the urge to text him back.We also give you a simple sentence you can use the second your spiral starts, and we help you begin separating trauma from truth—because those two feel identical when you're hurting. And inside Cocoon this week, we're celebrating wins, joy, and nervous-system rehab with this month's Magic Drop giveaway. (If you're not in the community yet… get in there.)If peace feels unfamiliar, if chaos feels like home, if your body keeps wanting what your mind already left—this one's for you.Don't miss Thursday's premium episode. professorjrod@gmail.comA single glowing dot in a glass tube changed how we understand the world. We follow that spark from Carl Ferdinand Braun's cathode-ray breakthrough to radar operators reading life-and-death blips, to living rooms lit by television and desktops shaped by GUI windows. Along the way, we show why screens didn't just display information—they taught humans to think in frames, patterns, and pixels.I walk through the interface pivots that mattered: when computers stopped spitting paper and started talking back visually; when text terminals gave way to Xerox PARC's icons and pointers; when Apple and IBM normalized monitors as the heart of personal computing with standards like CGA, EGA, and VGA. Then we dive into the flat panel turn: the physics of liquid crystals, the jump from passive to active matrix TFT, and the moment LCDs escaped laptops to conquer the desk. We weigh plasma's cinematic highs and practical lows, and how LED backlights, higher refresh rates, and HDR transformed clarity, contrast, and color. From there, we explore OLED's promise—self-emissive pixels with true blacks, flexible forms, and motion precision that redefined smartphones, TVs, and creative workflows. We compare Mini‑LED's local dimming advances and MicroLED's potential for brightness, longevity, and perfect blacks, while noting the manufacturing roadblocks. Finally, we look ahead: curved, foldable, and rollable designs that adapt to you; VR and AR that pull displays onto your eyes; and early steps toward holograms and light field systems that project depth without headsets. The through-line is simple and profound: as control over light improves, the screen fades and the experience takes its place. If this journey reshaped how you see your monitor, share it with a friend, subscribe for more deep dives, and leave a review to help others discover Technology Tap.Support the showArt By Sarah/DesmondMusic by Joakim KarudLittle chacha ProductionsJuan Rodriguez can be reached atTikTok @ProfessorJrodProfessorJRod@gmail.com@Prof_JRodInstagram ProfessorJRod

Jon's career in tech didn't prepare him for the kind of grit and self‑discovery he found on the trails, especially when he set his sights on the infamous Barkley Marathons. On the way he picked up ultra finishes at events like Niwot's Challenge and the Yucca Bar Massacre, embraced navigation‑heavy racing, and turned running into a tool for resilience and community.Highlights:How Jon went from programming to pursing ultra adventures—with little thought for convention. What draws him to Barkley‑style races: the unknown, the navigational challenge, the refusal to accept a “normal” race.Key training takeaways: establishing strength, avoiding injury through smart prep, embracing weekly yoga and strength work (yes, even for ultra runners).Motivational nuggets: How showing up matters more than finishing; how joy in running can exist alongside the grind; why community and purpose matter just as much as pace.Practical tips: For runners looking to level up in 2025—whether you're chasing 50 miles or chasing meaning—you'll hear what made the difference for Jon.Jon's links:IG: @mildly_athleticIG: @runningwithproblems“Running With Problems” podcast infoJon's race archive & blogJon's Barkley 2023 race reportBarkley Marathons background infoPartner Links: Janji - Janji.comA big shoutout to our sponsor, Janji! The way your stomach drops when you reach for a family-size anything and remember: it's just me now.In this episode, Dawn, Joy, and Tiff unpack why the tiny, ordinary moments hit harder than the big ones — and why the grocery store aisle can feel like a spiritual breakdown near the beans. You'll learn:why these moments have little to do with missing himwhat's actually happening in your nervous system when that wave hitsthe parts of you (IFS) that come online in grocery-store griefwhy your identity feels shaky, young, or overwhelmedthe difference between the “old hard” and the “new hard” of healingwhy your body says no long before your mind catches onhow to honor your capacity during the holidaysthe sentence that will ground you instantly when the grief sneaks upAnd later, in our My Body Said No segment, we share the real, raw ways our bodies are setting boundaries this season — and how honoring those no's is a core part of healing divorce grief. If you've ever pretended to compare marinara jars just to get a second to breathe… this episode will feel like someone finally naming what you've been carrying.Love you. In this episode, Steve and Kathy Boyls share the astonishing true story behind Steve's near-death experience. While Steve spent three weeks in a coma—encountering heaven, angels, loved ones, and even Jesus—Kathy fought for his life through relentless prayer and faith. Their testimony is one of hope, healing, and the reality of the afterlife.
What creatures reside at the edge of reality, and what happens when we cross into the space of nonreality where we can't trust our perceptions? On this episode we explore reports of floating jellyfish drifting through the sky, squid-like beings gliding over forests, octopoid forms appearing out of nowhere, and entities hidden behind cloaks of invisibility. From dark forces stalking remote woodlands to encounters with creatures that slip between worlds, a strange intelligence seems to be moving just beyond the visible. Then for our Plus+ members we turn to the mysteries that emerge at the boundary of life itself. We examine accounts of terminal lucidity and the sudden clarity that arises at the brink of death. These profound experiences invite us to consider the structure of consciousness and whether such luminous parting moments reveal doorways to other realms or realities far more wondrous than our own. Her story flips the usual “runner interview” on its head, and it's rich in meaning.Guest journey & highlightsErica is married to a race‑director, which opened her door into the world of trail and ultra running from a different vantage point—supporting, creating, building instead of racing. On her 42‑acre farm in North Carolina (nestled between Asheville and Charlotte), she homesteads, grows endangered medicinal plants, sews sustainable slow‑fashion pieces, and dives deep into frameworks of wilderness, microbiome, community and true belonging. Her family's race event, the Hollis Hills Farm Revival (50 km, 25 k, 5 mile) is part trail run, part community fest, part land‑revival project. She speaks to how the ultra world (sometimes stereotyped as hyper‑competitive) can actually be profoundly welcoming to non‑runners, volunteers, supporters—the “behind the scenes” humans.Motivational takeaways: You don't need to be the person crossing the finish line to belong here. Contribution isn't always measured in miles. Sustainability, craft, community resilience—these are trail values too. If you pressed play on this tonight, it probably means the quiet hit differently. Not the peaceful kind — the kind that presses against your ribs and makes your chest feel too small for your own heart. The kind of quiet that shows up after divorce, when the world is flashing warm twinkle-light romance and happy-family commercials, and you're sitting in a room trying to remember how to breathe in your own life. This episode is your place to land.Inside this premium session, Dawn guides you through a gentle but powerful nervous-system practice designed for the exact kind of ache that shows up when the house gets still, the loneliness gets loud, and you feel like you're carrying your healing alone. This is not about escaping the ache. The holidays don't just remind you who's at your table...They remind you who isn't.When you're divorced, that quiet has a sound. It's the clink of one mug instead of two.The solo grocery run.The ache of seeing everyone else's “perfect” family photos. And the part no one talks about?Your nervous system feels all of it long before your mind catches up.In this episode, Dawn, Joy, and Tiff walk you through why holiday grief hits differently... not just emotionally, but neurologically. Your brain codes the holidays as both comfort and threat, and that dual-wiring explains so much of the confusion, anxiety, tight chest, and “I don't belong anywhere” thoughts that tend to surface this time of year. And today, we're going to help you work with all of it.In this episode:✨ Why holiday grief feels louder in your body — the neuroscience behind scents, memories, and tradition triggering loss and longing✨ The real reason divorced women feel like they “don't belong anywhere” — and how this actually traces back to belonging to yourself✨ The phrase to repeat at any holiday party when your chest tightens “I am safe to be seen in this moment.”✨ A 60-second bathroom-stall nervous system reset Cold-water wrists, humming, squats, breath work — your new somatic toolkit for holiday overwhelm✨ How to turn this season from performance into personal power (New traditions, choosing yourself, claiming authenticity, and ditching the performative holiday mask)✨ Why your circle shifts after divorce — and why that shift is actually a sign of growth, not failureThis episode is a warm hand on your back, reminding you that nothing about your holiday pain means you're behind, broken, or unlovable. It means your nervous system still remembers love — and is learning how to feel safe again without him. This week's Thursday Premium episode is a guided, real-time grounding practice for the exact moment your nervous system spirals — in the grocery store aisle, the car, or the corner of the holiday party. If you're not a premium listener yet, now is the season to join. Don and Dude keep celebrating Casey Kasem's legacy, spotlighting the warm spirit of Casey's Top 40. This episode visits the week of November 16, 1991, when radio united pop, rock, and R&B in a dynamic mix. Each host picks an album tied to a defining Top 10 single, featuring two records that shaped early '90s airwaves and capture the era's bold musical shift.Prince & The New Power Generation – Diamonds and Pearls (1991) Minneapolis visionary Prince shook up the game by fusing funk, new jack swing, R&B, and pop with his New Power Generation band. The album features the chart-topping hit "Cream," a sly, empowering funk groove that became Prince's last solo Number One. From the album's spiritual opening track “Thunder” to the lush balladry of “Diamonds and Pearls” and the epic closer “Live 4 Love,” Prince's thirteenth LP marks a creative rebirth and mainstream resurgence. The production mixes real-deal musicianship with slick digital edges and gospel-fired harmonies. Critics and fans alike see it as a dazzling crossroads, where Prince blended past genius with '90s modernity.Guns N' Roses – Use Your Illusion I (1991) Axl Rose, Slash, and crew upped the ante with a sprawling double-album era, but Use Your Illusion I is where their ambition truly went wild. Kicking off with the menacing “Right Next Door to Hell” and dialing up the drama with power ballad “Don't Cry,” the album explores everything from punk-riff rage to epic piano pop. “November Rain,” a nearly nine-minute symphonic epic, ranks among MTV's most iconic video moments. Meanwhile, “Coma” finishes the set with a genre-bending, ten-minute odyssey. The record's sound is both raw and over-the-top, capturing a band teetering between chaos and brilliance, a defining entry in hard rock's history.Dude is Diggin':Colter Wall – Memories and Empties (2025): Rugged, western country storytelling from a baritone master, full of 1970s honkytonk vibes.Skid Row – Slave to the Grind (1991) (vinyl): Gritty, heavy riffs and soaring metal vocals define this Billboard-topping classic.Don is Diggin':Mavis Staples – Sad and Beautiful World (2025): Soul rooted in seven decades, with powerful collaborations and timely social gospel. The Mountain Goats – Through This Fire Across from Peter Balkan (2025): Indie folk storytelling set on the high seas, with dreamlike production and striking guest artists.Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and Bluesky @albumnerds. Send us a textWe're joined by automotive artist Ian Cook this week. Better known as Pop Bang Colour, he produces artwork using model cars instead of brushes, and has created paintings at motoring events for almost 20 years. He even painted a giant Lewis Hamilton for Reebok, earning a Guinness World Record in the process. In a similar fashion to last episode's guest, Ian remembers identifying parts of cars from the back seat of his parents Metro, he could even work out a vehicle by its tail lights at night. They travelled to France in the Metro, but him and his brother had to be in separate cars to stop them fighting! His Uncle was a Car Designer for Rover, which meant the entire family had one… for cheap! His Uncle had the MG Metro Turbo. Another Uncle had a Chevette, which Ian now owns. Each Christmas they would go to the model shop to pick a new slot car. You swore you were past it.You journaled, forgave, meditated, did the work. But then a photo shows up, or someone says his name, and your chest tightens again. That's resentment — the emotion that doesn't move out just because you tell it to.In this episode, we stop pretending it's gone.We talk about what keeps it alive, why it feeds on validation, and what's hiding under all that anger.Joy shares the text that broke her cool...Tiff opens up about being the one who always held it all together while he got to play the “fun dad.”...And I talk about the moment I realized my resentment wasn't about him anymore (it was about the part of me that still didn't feel safe alone). We get honest about the apology that never helps, the waiting for closure that keeps you stuck, and the small ways resentment protects you from feeling the harder stuff underneath: grief, fear, loneliness, shame. If you've ever thought, “Why can't I just move on?” — this one's for you.✨ Join Premium where we dont just name the pain- we release it! We inherit shame like an unspoken family heirloom — stitched into our bodies, our ambition, our idea of enough. It's the quiet undertone behind so many brilliant women asking, “Why do I still feel like I'm not enough?”In this conversation, Jennifer Walter sits down with therapist and facilitator Kyira Wackett to unpack the hidden ways shame shapes our lives — from body image and burnout to perfectionism and belonging. Together, they explore how shame isn't just a feeling — it's a learned survival strategy. One we can unlearn. You'll hear about the difference between “good” and “bad” pain, why setting boundaries feels so hard, and how to start building shame resilience without burning yourself out. This episode is part psychology, part real talk — a compassionate deep dive into the quiet stories that keep women performing, proving, and people-pleasing.If you're tired of hustling for worth, this one's your permission slip to rest, reflect, and begin again.

professorjrod@gmail.comA census solved with cardboard, a company remade by a $5 billion gamble, and a tiny firmware layer that cracked open the PC market—this is the human story behind how computing became a platform, not a product. We go from Hermann Hollerith's 1890 insight to IBM's sales-first system that taught the world to think in fields and records, and then to the cultural and ethical crosscurrents that come with scale. Those punched holes didn't just count people; they trained generations to quantify work, plan logistics, and make decisions with data. The narrative turns at a crossroads in the early 1960s. Thomas J. Watson Jr. sees a maze of incompatible machines and bets the company on a single, compatible architecture: System/360. It demanded new chips, code, factories, and nerve. Launch day lands with shock and relief—orders flood in for a family of computers that finally speak the same language. That choice redefined the industry's economics: software could live longer than hardware, upgrades didn't mean rewrites, and customers stopped fearing growth. Architecture became destiny, and IBM set the standard that everyone from Apple to ARM would later emulate in their own ecosystems. Then the stage shifts again to 1981, where a humble BIOS turns one machine into a platform. IBM documented how its firmware behaved; Compaq legally reimplemented it; the clone market ignited. Prices dropped, innovation surged, and the Wintel era took shape. IBM lost tight control but the world gained a common PC standard that carried software across brands and borders. From punch card schemas to UEFI, from batch jobs to cloud migrations, the same lesson repeats: design for compatibility, bet on continuity, and accept that openness can multiply impact. If the story made you think differently about the architecture beneath your apps and devices, follow the show, share it with a friend, and leave a review to help others find Technology Tap.
