POPULARITY
The Sound Chaser Progressive Rock Podcast is on the air. The show this time is another of the annual birthday gift to myself shows. On these shows, I select some of my favorite pieces of progressive music. On this occasion, I have decided to narrow the range of choices a bit. Because we are now almost a quarter of the way through the 21st century, I thought it would be a good idea to play some of the highlight pieces from the 2000s so far. I have not arranged the pieces in any particular order, but just put together the show in otherwise the usual way. I hope you enjoy these selections as much as I do. Playlist1. In Episode 010, we discuss the most interesting and exploratory jam of Summer 2017, thus far: the 07/15/2017 Simple from Chicago, Illinois. A 27 minute, multifaceted jam, it's rare the band would begin a tour with jam this long or exploratory. Songs featured in this episode are: Rush: "Headlong Flight," Citay: "Careful With That Hat," Yes: "The Fish," Brian Eno: "Sky Saw," and Jimmy Smith: "Sagg Shootin' His Arrow." In addition, we discuss two new 2017 records we highly recommend: Fleet Foxes "Crack-Up," and Haim: "Something To Tell You." The Under The Scope duo invites friend of the podcast Josh Sellers to discuss Fleet Foxes' latest artistic shift, folk music in 2017, the album's polarizing nature, and much more.
