Buckle up, Butterflies. This week, we're cracking open more conspiracies than a Reddit thread at 3AM. In Episode 138, we uncover, The mysterious and probably too fancy Council of 300 — are they controlling the world, or just really bad at group projects? The spiral in the sky over Europe, alien light show or someone spinning a fidget spinner in the stratosphere? Historical UFO sightings that'll make you say “wait… what?” The curious case of the OpenAI whistleblower. And finally, we examine satellite images of the North Pole that definitely (maybe) show the entrance to Hollow Earth. Yes, there's a hole. And yes, we zoomed in. Whether you're a skeptic, a believer, or just here for the giggles, this one's got all the tinfoil and none of the boredom. Tap play, stay weird, and don't trust spiral clouds.#UFO #CouncilOf300 #HollowEarth #OpenAIWhistleblower #ConspiracyTheories #ComedyPodcast #NinjasAreButterflies #FunnyPodcast

Watch the best scene reading: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xYkI__GTug The butterfly prince is a story of a fictional character K.A.M.60 that attempt to honour the great French astronomer Charles Messier who developed the Messier catalogue and discovered many Messier objects in the sky in particular in the Virgo constellation. In the book K.A.M.60 real name is = Karlex Antoine Messier 60 and he is part of the Messier family. In real life The Messier 60 object is the twin/butterfly galaxies. Get to know the writer: What is your screenplay about? The butterfly prince is a story of a fictional character K.A.M.60 that attempt to honour the great French astronomer Charles Messier who developed the Messier catalogue and discovered many Messier objects in the sky in particular in the Virgo constellation. K.A.M.60 real name is = Karlex Aristoteles Messier 60 and he is part of the Messier family. In real life The Messier 60 object is the twin/butterfly galaxies. The plot is about jealousy, family feuds adventures and love. The constellations of Libra and Leo that are a couple have declared the war to the Virgo constellation just because of jealousy, they wiped out the Virgo constellation population. The only people left are the Messier family. They decided to send KAM60 (1) of their sons to the planet earth in a quest to find 10 virgins/maidens to married the 10 Messier brothers and repopulated the Virgo constellation again. K.A.M.60 Embarks in a quest and very interested journey where he not only achieved his goals of find the correct Maidens whom married the Messier brothers, along the way he meets very interesting characters such as Centaurs, witches, Mythological creatures, Gods, zodiac constellations etc. He also lived the most amazing adventures rescuing, helping, curing, advising and even fighting for or with people once he lands in the planet Earth. Also, all the way the constellations of Libra and Leo (the bad guys on this plot) will do something to stop K.A.M.60 to achieve his goals but like a great hero he always defeats them. Additional, despite that this is a fantasy book most of the heroes KAM60, the maidens etc are based in real people. People that inspired me and that I believe will inspire others. Example of these people are; Charles Messier, Juana Cruz the 1st female Spanish bullfighter, Magdalena Zeger the 1st female astronomer, Marie Jose Perec, the best French female sprinter, ancient civilizations such as the Mayans, the Olmecs, the Dahomey's, the Vikings, The Amazon female warriors etc. There are also some interesting twists in the story such as the inclusion of fake/false Maidens, the Emerald ring that determines which are the real maidens/virgins, the butterflies tattoos and character names (most maidens have a butterfly name and of course all of them must have a butterfly tattoo, like KHAM 60 also had one) there is plenty of adventures, magic, mysteries, suspense, drama, mystic, action, Love, friendship, team work etc Plus the stunning locations around the world where all these adventures occurs. It got me thinking that I really want to start something with my Legacy Fiber Artz minis from previous year advents. Maybe a Granny Stripe blanket? Or perhaps another Recollections crochet blanket. I made one in the summer of 2022 (check out my Ravelry Project Page). It uses fingering weight yarn held triple and treble crochets. You work each row right to left and cut each time. between each set of clusters you use a main color. Debating using Fibernymph 10g minis from last year's advent for those rows (notes say it used- about 8g per row but that's held triple which might just be too annoying). I'm debating making a smaller blanket that will live on the backseat of my car, draped over. Mostly for the pop of color with my gray interior but I bet the kids would use it when they're back there. I'd also like to make a crocheted granny square tank top for the summer so I could potentially use some of my minis for that. Do you have any ideas for me?   From the Armchair   The Wandering Purl YouTube channel- I have a Gilmore Girls sock sized bag from Bethany and I know lots of you are fans of her, but I didn't realize she had a channel!  Enjoying her content, check it out. Flies are amazing insects that play critical roles in our environment including pollination, waste disposal, pest control, and as a link in the food web. Flies are greatly diverse in colors, shape, size, and where they live. Butterflies and bees probably generate more enthusiasm, but it's time to change that. To talk about flies with us, we are joined by Dr. Erica McAlister, who works at the Natural History Museum in London, where she is the principal curator for Diptera and Siphonaptera, i.e., flies and fleas. Erica takes a particular interest in three groups of flies, fungus gnats, assassin flies, and mosquitoes. The latter means that inevitably she is involved with many projects related to identification of mosquitoes and which ones are associated with spread of malaria and other diseases and viruses, but her experience is much broader, including teaching entomology in Dominica and studying the invertebrates — more specifically, the flies — of that island. Finally, Erica is also the award-winning author of four books, including The Secret Life of Flies and The Inside Out of Flies.---Cover Photo: Whitney Cranshaw - Bugwood CC - Tachinid fly (Trichopoda pennipes) Thank you for listening! Today's featured poet is Ibe Liebenberg (0:03:51) who joins Ann Wallace to talk about his new collection, Birds at Night, published in 2025 by Texas Tech University Press. Ibe is a member of the Chickasaw nation, as well as a firefighter from Paradise, California. With wildfires causing increasing destruction across the nation in recent years, we have wanted to speak with a firefighter on The WildStory—and this conversation with Ibe does not disappoint. It is a reflective one, highlighting the intertwining threads—of land, migration, and ancestry, of family and memory, of fire, loss and healing—contained within his poetry. Spring is here, and in this month's segment of "Ask Randi," Randi Eckel (0:31:47), owner of Toadshade Wildflower Farm encourages listeners to take a gentle approach when tidying up their gardens this season. She explains that because insects and other wildlife rely on leaf litter, stems, and decaying wood throughout the year, plant debris is essential for the survival of many creatures. Next, Kim Correro is joined by guest host Susan Landau, one of the people behind the Foote's Pond Wood Park restoration project in Morristown, New Jersey. Susan has also been instrumental in creating the "Going Native" planting guide for Northern New Jersey, and she collaborates each year on the popular Great Swamp Watershed Native Plant Sale, which is open online through April 18th. More information can be found at greatswamp.org. Together, Kim and Susan interview William Cullina (0:41:10), the F. Otto Haas Executive Director of the Morris Arboretum & Gardens at the University of Pennsylvania. Cullina is a well-known author and recognized authority on North American native plants. During their conversation, he shares his long-term goals for the Morris Arboretum and discusses his research in tree genetics and soil microbiology, as well as an exciting new exhibition titled "Bees, Butterflies, and Blooms: A Pollinator Paradise," which will run this year from May 23 to September 30. In the final segment, Kim and Ann speak with award-winning author and designer Kelly D. Norris (1:08:39), one of the leading ecological horticulturists of his generation. Kelly's new book, Your Natural Garden, is a page-by-page guide through the seasons of a naturalistic garden's life, and the tasks that come with each stage. Kelly explores the connections between people, plants, and place through ecological, site-specific design and art. He talks with Kim and me about the history of natural places, the value of abundance—in life and in planting—and the importance of becoming familiar, beyond the limited information contained on labels, with the plants we have in our gardens and parks. Follow The Wildstory on Instagram at Thewildstory_podcast

Today I have the honor and the pleasure to speak once again with celebrated poet and physician, Fady Joudah. The last time Fady was on the podcast was in November, 2023, shortly after the outbreak of war in Gaza. At that point we spoke about the impossibility of, even then, quantifying the genocide. Today we focus on the politics of language—in particular, the distinction Fady Joudah makes between Palestine in English, and Palestine in Arabic. We speak too of the need for and limitations of solidarity, and finish with a reading and discussion of one of Fady Joudah's most remarkable and stunning poems, “Truth is Never Finished.”  Fady Joudah is a Palestinian American physician, poet, and translator. He was born in Austin, Texas, and grew up in Libya and Saudi Arabia. He was educated at the University of Georgia, the Medical College of Georgia, and the University of Texas Health Sciences in Houston. In 2002 and 2005 he worked with Doctors Without Borders in Zambia and Sudan, respectively.Joudah's debut collection of poetry, The Earth in the Attic (2008), won the 2007 Yale Series of Younger Poets competition, chosen by Louise Glück. Joudah followed his second book of poetry, Alight (2013) with Textu (2014), a collection of poems written on a cell phone wherein each piece is exactly 160 characters long. His fourth collection is Footnotes in the Order of Disappearance (2018).  In 2014, Joudah was a Guggenheim Fellow in poetry. As critic Charles Bainbridge observed in a 2008 Guardian review of The Earth in the Attic, “Joudah's poetry thrives on dramatic shifts in perspective, on continually challenging received notions.”Joudah translated  several collections of Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish's work in The Butterfly's Burden (2006), which won the Banipal prize from the UK and was a finalist for the PEN Award for Poetry in Translation; and in If I Were Another, which won a PEN USA award in 2010. His translation of Ghassan Zaqtan's Like a Straw Bird It Follows Me (2012) won the Griffin International Poetry Prize in 2013. His other translations include Amjad Nasser's Petra: The Concealed Rose and A Map of Signs and Scents.Joudah lives with his family in Houston, where he works as a physician of internal medicine.

What happens when twin forces, obsession and capitulation, come together? And whose story do you believe in any lovestory gone wrong? They were an unlikely couple. Greg, a post doc medicalstudent, is a planner who wants to have his career, a wife, children, a home. Anya is a free spirit, an artist living hand to mouth but passionate about her art and living a life that matters. When Greg spots her at a party, a vision dancingin a diaphanous blue shirt, blue eyes and long black hair swaying, she is like a butterfly in motion.  He is captivated. She sees in him a safe harbor. Against the odds, they start to date, their differences like the jagged edges of a puzzle that fit. The seemingly golden couple were on their way.In her new stand-alone noir, THE BUTTERFLY TRAP, Clea Simon reveals the dark undertow lying beneath the surface of their connection and how despite the signs, both Greg and Anya are committed, if not to the marriage, then to their story of it.  Told in two parts, we see them first throughGreg's eyes and then through Anya's. We witness the subtle fissures as they move forward with friends, careers and what begins to feel like the inevitability of marriage and family. Within it all flows an increasingly toxic push-pull of identity confusions and gender misapprehension that feed andfuel shocking and irrevocable acts. About the Author: Simon is the Boston Globe-bestsellingauthor of three nonfiction books and more than thirty mysteries, including World Enough and Hold Me Down, both of which were named “Must Reads” by the Massachusetts Center for the Book.  A graduate of Harvard University and former journalist, she has contributed to publications rangingfrom Salon.com and Harvard Magazine to Yankee and TheNew York Times. In last week's episode, we came to know Amelia's beautiful and compassionate spirit and the painful circumstances surrounding her death.  Today, we continue that conversation by stepping into some of the most tender parts of the Mayhall's grief journey—walking through forgiveness, learning how grief evolves over time, and discovering how hope can rise even in the darkest places. You'll hear how they've kept Amelia's memory alive in meaningful ways, how their faith has been refined through suffering, and how God continues to use their story to comfort and support other grieving parents. This episode is for every parent who has known deep sorrow—and who is holding on to the hope of eternity. In this episode of Let's Talk, Yvie Jones engages in a heartfelt conversation about body image and self-acceptance as she speaks with broadcaster Myf Warhurst, research psychologist Professor Navjot Bhullar, endocrinologist Dr. Yvonne Chow, and actor and singer Mia Morrissey. Together, they delve into the complexities of body image in women, and why women are disproportionately impacted by body dissatisfaction and eating disorders. This discussion looks at various areas across a woman’s life span, including Myf's personal journey with aging and relationships, the psychological impact of societal standards as explained by Navjot, and Yvonne's insights on the role of hormones in a woman’s experience of her body over time. Mia shares her own experience with an eating disorder, and how physical health challenges alongside appearance ideals influenced her well-being. In the end, the episode calls for more understanding and kindness towards ourselves and our bodies. For the sake of all women, it’s time to resist toxic social prescriptions by basing our value on the way that we look. Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. US bureau chief Jacob Magid joins host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today's episode. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet US President Donald Trump at 1 p.m. local time at the White House. The two leaders are expected to discuss the new tariffs Trump imposed on Israel, efforts to roll back Iran and its proxy network and hostage talks with Hamas. Taking each point in turn, Magid fill us in on what to look out for from this spontaneous trip and what Netanyahu hopes to accomplish. Hamas is prepared to release all of the remaining hostages at once in exchange for a permanent ceasefire, a senior Palestinian official familiar with the ongoing truce talks told Magid last week. Magid was approached by a Hamas figure who resides outside of Gaza, who wants Israelis to know that amid Israel’s longstanding rejection of this type of trade, Hamas is still prepared to release a number of hostages as part of a renewed temporary ceasefire. We hear more. The Hebrew name of a spotted orange butterfly has been changed to honor murdered hostage Ariel Bibas by the Academy of the Hebrew Language, the Bibas family announced Friday. The academy last week officially informed the family, and on Thursday hand-delivered a letter addressed to Bibas’s father, Yarden — who was also taken hostage but released in February under a ceasefire deal — of the final decision to rename Melitaea ornata (eastern knapweed fritillary). Using one of the biblical names of Jerusalem, Ariel, the name of the butterfly was replaced in Hebrew from Kitmit Yerushalayim (Orange Jerusalem) to Kitmit Ariel (Orange Ariel) in honor of the four-year-old. Borschel-Dan explains the back story behind this change. Please see today's ongoing liveblog for more updates. Bible Reading: Ephesians 4:22-32 Mom had purchased two butterfly kits, one for Millie and one for Logan. They were going to be studying the stages of a butterfly in their homeschool science group."Does everyone have a butterfly kit with a caterpillar?" Mrs. Wilson asked. She walked around the room and helped the students get their kits set up. "Now, it will take about three weeks for your caterpillars to turn into butterflies, and we will be observing and taking notes throughout the metamorphosis process.""What does metamorphosis mean?" Millie asked."That's a good question, Millie. It means to change. The caterpillars will be going through several changes or stages before they turn into butterflies. This is called the process of metamorphosis."After Mrs. Wilson dismissed the class, Millie and Logan talked to their friends while the moms got the lunches together. Everyone was excited--this was definitely going to be a fun science project!"I can't wait to see my butterfly," Millie said on the way home. "We learned what metamorphosis means today. It means to change.""That reminds me of what we read about in our devotions yesterday," said Mom. "You mean about having new life in Jesus?" Logan asked. Mom nodded. "When we trust Jesus as our Savior, we become new--much like how butterflies go through metamorphosis. Second Corinthians 5:17 says that anyone who belongs to Jesus has become a new person. Our old life is gone, and we are given a new life where we have the freedom to love others the way Jesus does.""That's really cool. I'll have to tell that to Mrs. Wilson next week," Logan replied.Over the next three weeks, Millie and Logan watched their caterpillars turn into butterflies. "This is so awesome!" Logan said on the day when all the students had their butterfly kits sitting on the picnic table, ready for release time."Okay, class, time to set the butterflies free," Mrs. Wilson announced. The students released their butterflies into the air. "Fly, butterfly! Enjoy your new life!" Millie called to hers. Everyone cheered as they watched their butterflies fluttering around.–Lisa FullerHow About You?Do you know what it means to become a new person? It doesn't mean physically changing like a caterpillar into a butterfly. It means to be freed from the guilt of our sin and given the Holy Spirit, who works in your heart to make you more like Jesus. As you let the Holy Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes, He will help you throw off your old way of thinking and live a new life of love that points to Jesus.Today's Key Verse:Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! (NLT) (2 Corinthians 5:17)Today's Key Thought:Christians have a new life

Happiness is a butterfly...or is happiness a sunset? There will be happiness after you...or will it always escape from my hands into moonlight? Two different schools of thought on the same concept are presented by two of the most established and prolific female songwriters in the world - Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift. On the one hand, Taylor Swift writes a full narrative of the five stages of grief and how to get back to happiness after all of it in her song Happiness from Evermore. On the other, Lana Del Rey wonders if it's even possible to ever get back to happiness at all on Happiness Is a Butterfly from NFR. Let's examine BOTH of these songs and determine if either of these women are actually mentally stable enough to be giving anyone advice about anything... This is a public episode. Today I share my conversation with Blake & Lisa. They are Zach Carter's mom and oldest brother. Zach died by suicide in 2022. The 3 of us talk about many things including, but not limited to, Zach's devotion to family, to his job and even to Crocs...yes, the cushy, bright colored charm-adorned shoes! We talk about his joys and his struggles and even his love for pizza! There is something in this one for everyone. From Zach's brother:“On June 22nd, 2022, my life was turned upside down. We lost my brother and best friend, Zachary, to suicide at the ripe young age of 21. After losing him we were all impacted by the lack of resources available to those facing anxiety, depression, and grief. It was this unfortunate loss, and the need to continue Zach's love of mental health advocacy that led us to launch ZTC.”“Today's mental health care system, in my eyes, is a joke. After the loss of Zach we were filled with depression, anxiety and grief and needed to seek professional help. Family members contacted multiple facilities just to be told the wait was 6-18 months or just didn't receive a call back. If we struggled to find help while we were still functioning with mild depression and anxiety, how are those that are severely suffering getting treated when they are reaching out for treatment that could be life or death?”From Zach's Mom:“This foundation is very important to me.  It's a way we can honor my youngest son Zachary, who lost his battle with Mental Illness when he was only 21.  We would love to help others going through struggles and trying to find help.  After my son passed away, I found it very hard to get the help I needed.   I was told I would be put on a waiting list and it could be 12-18 months.  This is just unacceptable!!  I was lucky to find a church that offered a grief counseling program.  It was so helpful to me.  We want to help others, whether its help funding therapy or guiding them with the resources to get help.I have also started zachsbutterflies.org.  Be sure to check it out sometime.  My husband and I, along with some family members, are crocheting butterflies and leaving them around for others to find.  We leave a little note of encouragement with it.   Maybe one day you will find one while you're out and about.HERE are all of the LINKs as promised:The ZTC Foundation WebsiteZach's Butterflies   &  Zach's Buddy BenchesFacebook & InstagramThe (infamous) You Matter HoodiesAnkits Hope AppQPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Training__________________________________________________________________________My WEBSITE "The Leftover Pieces; Rebuilding You" is support central. If you, or someone you know, is struggling ww suicidal thoughts, reach out:CALL 988 in the US or Canada OR, you can also TEXT the word "HOME" to 741741 in the USA & CanadaSupport the show

This week, we're talking about one of our favorite historical romances, Jeannie Lin's Butterfly Swords. This is one we've mentioned on previous episodes, and discussed at length during Jeannie's Trailblazer episode, as it is the first own voices Asian-set historical romance. Aside from setting the standard for adventure romance, it's also a near-perfect road trip romance with one of the hottest slow burns you'll ever read. We talk about all of it, including the absolutely devastating first kiss—one that should go down in romance history. TL;DR: We love this book hard. Thanks to Charlotte Howard, author of Secret Verses, and Mila Finelli, author of Mafia Mistress, for sponsoring the episode. Stay tuned after the episode to hear the first chapter of Mafia Mistress in audio!Show NotesThis week, we're reading the debut novel Butterfly Swords by romance trailblazer Jeannie Lin. First up, Sami has a Ford Mustang Mach-E to talk about, but gasp! Its from last year? It still features a cool new upgrade that adds extra power, prompting our hosts to talk about these downloadable mods. What would they reasonably add to a car via a download button? Butterflies, weird algorithms and maybe some growing and fading vines are all on the table for Sami and Benjamin. Then Benjamin continues his fancy-pants parade of luxury cars as he reviews the 2025 Genesis G80. Refreshed for this year with a new look inside and out, Benjamin wonders if the Korean luxury brand still has the 'it' factor that made it so appealing when it first debuted. Benjamin explains what's happening with the G80 with all this context (and more.) Thanks for listening!

He says The Butterfly brought her to him. We can only assume he means the Question, who after all is the one that kicked her in the head last issue. Helena gets frustrated and threatens Richard before Vic Sage comes in. He comments that Helena's anger is like looking in a mirror. “We've come to know the world through violence and rage. We wear masks to hide from ourselves as much as others.” Then he reveals he is the Question and formally introduces himself to her. She quietly does the same. Meanwhile in Gotham, Tim Drake/Robin is meeting with Barbara Gordon aka Oracle. Tim doesn't believe the Huntress is the killer; it's too sloppy and she's too smart for this. Barbara is skeptical but Tim insists they have to learn the truth.  Back at the cabin, Vic explains that Richard can teach Helena how to live, not just how to not die. Vic understands how isolated Helena is and that if she returns to Gotham now, she'll soon be dead or be forced to kill. Leaving her to think, Vic tells Richard he's returning to Gotham - he's got some questions. In Gotham, Tim returns to Barbara with newspaper clippings from Helena's past. They acknowledge that while Helena and Bruce both lost their parents at 8, in Helena's case all the Bertinelli's in the city were systematically eliminated, whether they were in the mafia or not. The real question is why and why Helena was left alive. Helena is doing Tai Chi with Richard. He explains, “Passion and rage as fuel. Fear and vengeance as destination. And the faster you move, the more your past drags at you, the more of you that breaks away.” She needs to remember to breathe. As Helena trains she acknowledges to herself that she lost her breath long ago, She's been running scared her whole life, trampling anyone or anything that gets in her way. But blood cries for blood and her family's is calling for her. How dare she refuse that? Later inspecting her costume, she tells Richard how the Huntress scares her. He says she should, that Huntress is a killer. But also that Helena no longer needs to don the mask, to be someone else. She already is the Huntress. Vic finally returns to take Helena back to Gotham. She seems calmer and more at peace. As the two walk down the mountain, Vic lets her know he stopped by Helena's apartment to help out with bills and chores and noticed it's being watched.  She's not surprised. As they sit at a little town's bus stop, Vic asks her to tell the story of how she became the Huntress. Helena says: “It started in Sicily…”

One whale's waste is an ocean organism's treasureThe nutrients in the ocean are not evenly distributed. Resources tend to be rich around coastlines and near the poles, and are often poorer in the open ocean and the tropics. A new study has explored how urine from migrating baleen whales is a significant way that nitrogen and other nutrients are circulated in the oceans. Joe Roman is a conservation biologist at the University of Vermont. He led the research, published in the journal Nature Communications. The underground economy: Fungi and plants trade have a network under our feetScientists have used a custom robot to track the growth of a complex underground supply-chain network that forms between more than 80 per cent of the plant species on Earth and symbiotic fungus. This allowed them to trace the flow of carbon and nutrients across this network,  that draws about 13 billion tons of carbon dioxide into the soil each year. Toby Kiers, from Vrije University in Amsterdam and the Society for the Protection of Underground Networks led the work, published in the journal Nature.  Researchers capture wild sharks to get sperm samples for captive breedingIn a world-first, a team of marine biologists and veterinarians collected semen from endangered wildsharks in an effort to maintain a population of genetically healthy sharks. Christine Dudgeon, from the University of Queensland and the Sunshine Coast and the Biopixel Oceans Foundation, used some of that sperm to artificially inseminate captive females. Watching planets form in a baby solar system370 light years away, around a newborn star only five million years old, two planets are forming from the disk of gas and dust still orbiting around the star. Canadian researchers are using instruments on the James Webb Space Telescope to observe this process, and understand how the nascent planets are competing with the star for material as they grow. Dori Blakely, a PhD candidate at the University of Victoria, was the lead researcher on this article published in The Astronomical Journal. Butterfly populations are declining. Meet the people moving a forest to save them.A new study is bringing hard data to help us understand how butterfly numbers have declined steeply in recent years, due to the combination of habitat loss, climate change, and pesticide exposure. The research, co-led by Elise Zipkin, found that overall, across the United States, butterfly numbers are down 22 per cent over the past 20 years. The research was published in the journal Science.A different group of scientists is hoping to fix at least one of these problems for one species, by moving an entire forest in Mexico. The sacred fir trees, where monarch butterflies spend their winters, are struggling under climate change. Recently a team of researchers planted a thousand sacred fir trees at a new location at higher elevations to kickstart a new, future-proof forest for the butterflies to overwinter. After a few years, the researchers report the trees are doing well, in a recent paper published in Frontiers in Forests and Global Change.Quirks producer Amanda Buckiewicz spoke to Cuauhtémoc Saénz Romero, a forest geneticist at the University of Michoacán in Mexico, and Greg O'Neill, a climate change adaptation scientist with the BC Provincial Government in the Ministry of Forests.

Today on Like It Matters Radio Mr. Black is going to school his listeners on the reality of life. Choices have consequences. The book of Amos makes some statements about the Chain of Causation, the Law of Causality. Can two walk together without agreeing where to go? Does a lion roar in the forest when he has no prey? Does a young lion growl in his den if he has caught nothing? Does a bird land in a snare where no bait has been set? Does a trap spring from the ground when it has nothing to catch? If a ram’s horn sounds in a city, do the people not tremble? If calamity comes to a city, has the LORD not caused it? Amos 3:3-6. Today Mr. Black will be joined by Kelsey Pritchard with the Women Speak Out PAC. Today they will be talking about the political contest for Wisconsin Supreme Court between Liberal pro abortionist, Susan Crawford and the conservative Pro Life candidate Brad Schimel. They will discuss the National importance of this local race. But in the bigger picture Mr. Black wants to listeners to understand the Butterfly effect; That any change, changes all things. That our choices create an environment that others who follow will be constrained by! Tune in for your HOUR OF POWER as Mr. Black and guest discuss, The Butterfly Effect- Sins of the Father. Inspiration, Education and Application!! If calamity comes to a city, has not the LORD caused it? Surely the Lord GOD does nothing without revealing His plan to His servants the prophets. The lion has roared—who will not fear? The Lord GOD has spoken—who will not prophesy? - Amos 3:3-8 BSBWarrior; What a litany of statements. These are all CAUSE-and-EFFECT statements, natural laws- the WAY THINGS WORK: IF ‘A’ THEN ‘B’. If you put your hand into fire, you WILL GET BURNED. God has always forewarned us, He wants to make sure that people know that CHOICES have CONSEQUENCES and God wants none to perish. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Pet 3:9) God has a plan and He has YOUR PLAN. He promises us, HE HAS THIS, we just need to have FAITH. Faith has consequences, it allows us to be all that God has intended for us to be! “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do”. (Jeremiah 29:11, Ephesians 2:10) Believing God’s WORD is called Faith! Without Faith it is impossible to please God. The Consequences of FAITH, pays huge dividends in the Kingdom of God and allows us to be used for God’s purpose NOW! The framework of Adverse Childhood Experiences started with an unexpected finding over 30 years ago. How is our approach changing? We know that experiences from our childhood, both good and bad, shape who we become as adults. But, understanding what kinds of early experiences have staying power into adulthood and the wide range of impacts they can have is an emerging science. In the 1980s, Dr. Vincent Felitti ran a weight loss clinic in San Diego, California. He noticed that some patients who regained weight were more likely to have experienced sexual abuse in childhood. This eventually led him to conduct research on a larger scale to better understand the correlation between what he and his colleagues dubbed adverse childhood experiences, or ACES, and mental and physical health challenges later in life. This same 10-question survey Dr. Felitti gave participants in the 1990s is still used by researchers and clinicians to assess childhood trauma. But recently, some psychology experts have begun to question how accurately the ACES framework identifies trauma in diverse populations, since it was originally developed for a mostly white and affluent study population.Host Flora Lichtman talks with Preeti Simran Sethi, science writer and Rosalyn Carter Mental Health Journalism fellow, about her reporting for Science Friday about adverse childhood experiences. Also, to see more butterfly stories from our listeners, visit our story from last week. Transcripts for each segment will be available after the show airs on sciencefriday.com.
