Dan and Jimmy talk about a number of items for the 4th quarter episode of Behind the Media. Former Cosby Show actor Geoffrey Owens recently was job-shamed from working at Trader Joe’s, and Nikki Minaj decided to help him out by donating $25,000 to the fund that supports actors who are down and out. Speaking of the Cosby Show, their “star” Bill Cosby? He’s in jail now for 3-10 years. Will prison time really help reform, or just keep him out of sight in order to keep him out of mind? Plus, an artist pulls out of an exhibition of her work since those organizers were concerned about the political slant to her art. No worries she found a safe haven somewhere else in Massachusetts. Plus is there more Brain-hacking we need to be aware of, and from where?
Former Cosby Show actor Geoffrey Owens who played Irwin in the sitcom, was spotted by someone who snapped a photo of him working in Trader Joe's and posted it online only to go viral on social media and it wasn't taken all that good by those of us that are also hard working people who possess a modicum of decency and common sense. But there were plenty of individuals who attempted to job shame Mr. Owens from behind the comfort and anonymity of their keyboards. The funny thing is that I feel the majority of those who attempted to shame Geoffrey Owens would never have the exemplery character traits to work in a very public position that most would consider "below them!" But the fact of the matter is that ALL work is edifying and noble, no matter WHAT the position or task, because here we have a Black man who never hesitated to do what was necessary to keep the food on his family's table and the bills paid. How many Black men does Hollywood showcase such as Geoffrey Owens? He's a straight Black family man who has no drama, arrest record, history of neglecting his children or wearing a dress! So since he doesn't fit the profile of what the so called entertainment industry continually seeks to push down the throats of the public, he just won't get the work that so many others who are willing to compromise will. Geoffrey Owens is a well trained actor who background and training is so far vast over any flash in the pan rapper turned actor could ever shake a stick to. This is truly the Twilight Zone that we're living in and by the way things appear it's only going to get worse! Hang in there Geoffrey and thank you for being a fine example of Black manhood that the world needs to see more of! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/lancescurv/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/lancescurv/support
