The DOJ "Epstein Files" release was billed as transparency, but the hearing footage tells a different story. We break down Thomas Massie's clash with AG Pam Bondi, the alleged mishandling of victim names, and the bigger question: why does government always default to redactions, deflection, and "look over here" politics? Then we zoom out to the incentive problem: when power is centralized, the rich and connected get shields you will never have. We also cover the viral moments from the hearing, including the "reclaiming my time" chaos, the blame-shifting across administrations, and the absolute hall-of-fame distraction tactic: "The Dow is over 50,000 right now." If your friends are furious about Epstein, COVID, wars, or corruption, we give you the clean libertarian through-line: reduce the power, reduce the coverups. On Monday, Hong Kong's pro-democracy media tycoon Jimmy Lai was sentenced to 20 years in prison for colluding with foreign forces under the city's controversial national security law. The family of the 78-year-old, who is a British citizen, have appealed to foreign governments to call for Lai's release. Lai's sentence, which is the harshest yet under this law, has caused global concern over whether this is an attempt by Beijing to crackdown on dissent and democracy in the Chinese territory. We speak to Danny Vincent, the BBC's Hong Kong reporter, who was the last journalist to interview Jimmy Lai. Shibani Mahtani, who worked for the Washington Post as its Hong Kong and Southeast Asia bureau chief, analyses the jailing of Jimmy Lai, media tycoon and a fierce defender of democracy in his homeland of Hong Kong.
Joe's in Jail Genesis 39:20 | Psalm 105:18 What do you do when obedience lands you in a prison season? Joseph did everything right—and still found himself in chains. This message dives into the reality that following God doesn't exempt us from hardship, but it does position us for purpose. In this Bible study, we'll explore four truths to remember when life feels like a prison: God forms champions in places of fear, not comfort Adversity is often the pathway to achievement What threatens you may be the very thing God uses to deliver you God can turn your predicament into profit We'll also confront the emotions of the prison—doubt, discouragement, and depression—and see how God meets us in each one. From Gideon's questions to John the Baptist's doubt, Scripture reminds us that doubt is not disbelief, and feeling low does not mean God has left. If you're in a season where praise feels hard, faith feels tested, or hope feels distant, this message will remind you: God is still with you, even in the prison—and He's not done writing your story yet.

Should San Antonio have a diversion center? It could allow people with mental illness or intellectual disabilities to avoid going to jail for low-level misdemeanors and instead get treatment. It would help with overcrowding at the Bexar County Jail and could help direct people away from the cycle of the criminal justice system and into getting the help they need.
Dave Rubin of "The Rubin Report" talks to Harmeet Dhillon about the evidence against Don Lemon for violating the FACE Act by being involved with the anti-ICE protesters who stormed a Minnesota church to protest; the DOJ's civil rights enforcement and the legal limits of protest under the First Amendment; how the FACE Act applies to both abortion clinics and houses of worship; high-profile protest cases and claims of uneven enforcement in blue cities; free speech versus unlawful obstruction and intimidation; the DOJ Civil Rights Division's priorities on voting integrity, Second Amendment protections, religious liberty, and rolling back DEI in public institutions; restoring equal application of federal law, and much more.

In this Friday Headline Brief of The Wright Report, Bryan sounds the alarm on a clandestine Chinese biolab discovered in Las Vegas, tied to the same Chinese national behind the infamous California lab raid involving dangerous viruses, dead animals, and fraudulent COVID test schemes. He then covers explosive new inconsistencies in the Jeffrey Epstein jail death investigation, including missing evidence, conflicting officer statements, and questions the DOJ still refuses to answer. Back in Washington, Bryan breaks down the looming DHS shutdown as Democrats push demands that would effectively cripple ICE, while some Republicans float compromise plans that Bryan warns could be disastrous. Camron Guthrie, the son of Nancy Guthrie and brother of "Today" show co-host Savannah Guthrie, made a second appeal on behalf of the family for the return of their mother who disappeared over the weekend and authorities believe was abducted. The father of Elizabeth Smart, who was kidnapped when she was 14 and held for nine months, talks to "CBS Mornings" about the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. Ed Smart called the case "so surreal" and gave his advice to the Guthrie family. He also reflected on being a person of interest in his daughter's abduction. More than six years after the death of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, there are new questions around the investigation into how he died. A new analysis of surveillance video by CBS News shows a partial view of what may be someone possibly headed up to Epstein's cell tier the night he died. Scott MacFarlane reports. A Texas teenager was arrested after he admitted to shooting two of his friends in 2023. One of the friends died and the teen blamed his actions on an acne medication, claiming it gave him homicidal thoughts. "48 Hours" correspondent Tracy Smith reports. It has been more than a decade since Seattle's last Super Bowl appearance and it was against New England - then led by quarterback Tom Brady. Omar Villafranca and Jamie Yuccas visited the home cities of each team to see which one reigns supreme. Boxing legend Mike Tyson is starring in a Super Bowl ad about ultra-processed foods. Tyson speaks to "CBS Mornings" about his past struggles with obesity and why he partnered with the MAHA Center, a nonprofit organization aligned with HHS Secretary RFK Jr.'s "Make America Healthy Again" initiative. In this hard-hitting segment of The Clay Edwards Show, Clay breaks down the latest twist in the Saint Patrick's Day mass shooting saga from downtown Jackson. Just days after being cleared when a Hinds County grand jury failed to indict them on murder and aggravated assault charges in the death of Cortez George, one of the McLeod brothers is back in custody. Marquavius McLeod, previously locked up alongside his brother Michael (a former UMMC cop), was arrested by Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones on a fresh charge: being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Clay calls it a classic case of "f*** around and find out," questioning the original release and the evidence in the chaotic shooting where firing into a crowd allegedly hit innocents. He extends an invite to the family for their side but slams Hinds County's justice system for dropping the ball, contrasting it with stricter enforcement in Rankin and Madison Counties. With unfiltered takes on accountability and two-tiered justice—white vs. black suspects—Clay doesn't hold back, proving why Hinds might be the spot to "get away with it" if you're bold enough. Raw reality radio, no sugar added.

SO MUCH TO DISCUSS!! Mixologist fave, Kendrick Tucker, Host of I Ken Not Podcast, is back in the mix to talk about all the pop culture goings ons of the week from Grammy awards to Housewives returns from Jail to fake murders and real betrayals in killer outfits.First, the Grammys came and went…shirtless in silk boxers. Kendrick and Mani talk the hits and many misses of the grammy performances. Spoiler: they differ about the shirtless Yukon situation. Also the sit down with Karen Huger and Andy Cohen also came and went after the (former) Grand Dame has exited prison and entered life time recovery…Last, but of course, The Traitors banquet also came and went with a murder to be done in plain sight by a traitor, and a bromance in full bloom that nobody asked for. Mani and Kendrick figure out what Rob is doing, where the Traitors are headed, and give some VERY hot takes about the faithfuls left and who would make good traitors in the future. This episode was bonkers and exposed some low bars and disappointments but, as always, much too discuss. Get in the Mix with us!**Like being in The Mix with Mani? Leave a review/rating! Jeffrey Deskovic's life changed forever when he was convicted of a murder he did not commit at just 17 years old. He maintained his innocence for the next 16 years and then, with the help of the Innocence Project, the real person responsible was finally caught and Jeff was released from prison. Now you may be asking yourself, 'Hey, how is this a GOOD story?' The answer is found in what Jeff did after this all happened: He went to law school, became an attorney and founded the Deskovic Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the exoneration of the wrongfully convicted, their recovery, and reform of the system. This is one person's journey from the darkest of places to finding and creating his own light and we gotta tell ya, it doesn't get much more inspiring than this. Judge Brian Jackson of the U.S. District Court has certified a class action lawsuit against Angola Prison on behalf of men forced to perform punitive farm labor under unconstitutional conditions and in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Under this ruling, the court certified two specific groups: a primary class encompassing all persons currently or potentially assigned to the Louisiana State Penitentiary (LSP) Farm Line, and a specialized subclass for those with disabilities assigned to the same labor. In his findings, Judge Jackson noted that nearly every individual arriving at the facility is assigned to the Farm Line upon entry, with the majority remaining at risk of reassignment as a disciplinary measure.Guest:Samantha Pourciau is a Senior Staff Attorney at The Promise of Justice Initiative based out of New Orleans, Louisiana.Credits:Host: Mansa MusaProducer / Videographer / Post-Production: Cameron Granadino Resource links:https://promiseofjustice.org/news/incarcerated-farm-line-workers-win-class-certificationhttps://therealnews.com/prisoners-sue-over-inhumane-conditions-on-angolas-brutal-farm-linehttps://therealnews.com/prison-farms-and-agricarceral-slave-laborhttps://therealnews.com/louisiana-still-imprisons-people-convicted-by-jim-crow-juries Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-real-news-podcast--2952221/support.Help us continue producing radically independent news and in-depth analysis by following us and becoming a monthly sustainer.Follow us on:Bluesky: @therealnews.comFacebook: The Real News NetworkTwitter: @TheRealNewsYouTube: @therealnewsInstagram: @therealnewsnetworkBecome a member and join the Supporters Club for The Real News Podcast today!
