Dr. Leslie Dobson is a clinical and forensic psychologist with more than 20 years of experience working inside LA County Jail, state psychiatric hospitals, and court-related psychological assessments across California. In this episode of Locked In with Ian Bick, she shares the complete truth about what the criminal mind really looks like from the inside — and what most people fundamentally misunderstand about psychology, crime, and the justice system. She breaks down whether someone can fake not guilty by reason of insanity, what it really means to be a psychopath, why people are so fascinated with serial killers and true crime, what mental health hospitals are really like, and whether inmates deserve a second chance after prison. _____________________________________________ #psychologist #criminalminds #truecrimecommunity _____________________________________________ Connect with Dr. Leslie Dobson: Website: https://drlesliedobson.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drlesliedobson?igsh=MWs4M2JrZWRpd3hoOA== _____________________________________________ Hosted, Executive Produced & Edited By Ian Bick: https://www.instagram.com/ian_bick/?hl=en https://ianbick.com/ _____________________________________________ Timestamps: 00:00 Introducing Dr. Leslie Dobson 00:22 Family History and Early Influences 03:13 Finding Her Path: Education & Adversity 07:51 Surviving Major Health Challenges 14:10 Forensic Psychology Career Beginnings 19:21 Naivety, Manipulation & Lessons in Jail 23:19 State Hospitals and High-Risk Populations 27:00 Complexity of Mental Illness in Institutions 34:00 Violence, Psychopathy, and Untreatable Cases 39:02 Staff Dynamics & Institutional Corruption 43:41 True Crime, Fan Mail, and Media Fascination 51:20 Social Media, Justice, and Public Advocacy 58:46 Sexual Abuse Laws, Inconsistencies, and Second Chances 01:06:34 Civil Work, Emotional Damages, and Lie Detection 01:14:00 Psychopaths, Social Life, and Professional Challenges 01:18:43 Second Chances: Prison vs. Sex Offenses 01:25:12 Complexities of Sex Offense Cases 01:31:00 Endless Cycle of Evil & Protecting the Innocent 01:36:03 Broken System, Court Corruption, and Podcasting's Role 01:42:06 Solutions, Screening Staff, and The Path Forward 01:42:51 Conclusion and Final Thoughts _____________________________________________ To advertise on the show, contact sales@advertisecast.com or visit https://advertising.libsyn.com/LockedInWithIanBicka

In this episode, Matt and Jason sit down with Roxi, a fierce advocate for bodily autonomy and the founder of Common Lawgic. Roxi's journey was forged in the fire of extreme state overreach when a simple act of existing naturally on a public beach—taking her shirt off in the sweltering Florida heat—led to a brutal collision with the justice system. Her story is a testament to the absurd lengths the state will go to enforce arbitrary, gender-based puritanical codes, and the incredible resilience required to stand unbroken in the face of tyranny. The conversation begins with a shocking breakdown of the initial arrest, detailing how a peaceful day at the beach escalated into a full-blown nightmare of weaponized lawfare. The discussion exposes how the justice system uses the "process as the punishment," dragging Roxi through 13 exhausting hearings, forced mental health evaluations, and a heavily biased trial that culminated in a devastating 45-day jail sentence simply for calling out the absurdity of the courtroom. The dialogue explores the glaring double standards in bodily autonomy—noting that most states actually recognize the legality of women going topless—and delves into the grim reality of a system determined to crush defiance. Despite the overwhelming pressure and incarceration, the narrative highlights the deep lessons learned behind bars and an unyielding determination to take this constitutional battle all the way to the Supreme Court. Ending on a powerful "White Pill," the final segment of the episode shifts toward actionable pushback and unbreakable resolve. Refusing to be beaten down by the system, Roxi shares her profound insights into the legal matrix, breaking down the critical, empowering distinction between operating as a "citizen" versus a "national." This foundational knowledge serves as a potent framework for reclaiming personal sovereignty, offering listeners a concrete way to shift their mindset, step outside the confines of state subjugation, and stand firmly in their inherent rights. Americans are looking for safety in an increasingly chaotic country. Mass immigration, collapsing social trust, and weakening civic bonds have transformed many communities from places where neighbors knew one another into anonymous zones governed by suspicion. Technology promises an escape from the consequences of those political and cultural failures. Flock Safety cameras appear to offer law and order at the push of a button. In the hands of the ruling class that manufactured the crisis, however, they are more likely to produce tyranny for citizens. Luis Romero didn't just try heroin. He fell in love with it. That love affair started in his teens and followed him straight into adulthood, into gang life, and into four felonies.By the time he was sentenced to five years in prison, Luis thought a behavioral modification program was his way out. It wasn't. He got out, relapsed, and ended up at Freedom Ranch in San Diego, the place that finally gave him a program that stuck. He started over with nothing. Dishwashing shifts. Three years riding the bus because he couldn't afford a car. No shortcuts, just the slow work of rebuilding a life from scratch.Fourteen years later, Luis hosts the Fuck Fentanyl podcast and works at the same Freedom Ranch that gave him his start. As Bill and Alison Chawke waited outside courtroom number three in Limerick Circuit Court on Tuesday morning, their mood appeared upbeat. However, a short time later, as Judge Fiona O'Sullivan started to talk about prison time, the reality of their situation dawned on them, and shock quickly became visible on their faces. The son and daughter of prominent publican Charlie Chawke were in court for a vicious assault they launched on two men at the Dunraven Arms Hotel in Adare, Co Limerick, in November 2023. Both victims were left with physical and mental injuries. The Chawkes own some of the country's best-known pubs, with Bill and Alison heavily involved in the family business, and seemingly highly respected in their industry. And yet today, mother-of-three Alison and recent newlywed Bill find themselves behind bars. So, what does it all mean for the Chawke empire? It's known that an average life exists in the comfort zone.     And it is known that when you live in discomfort, your body will do everything it can to avoid this space.    The truth is, discomfort is where the growth aoccurs for most human beings.    Think about the last tie you lost love.    Lost money.    Lost friends.    Think about your childhood.     Was it good, or was it uncomfortable.    I've lived many lives of discomfort.    At 18, I got my first apartment.    Ten months later, the cops kicked open the door and took me to jail.    Jail was uncomfortable.    I had no furniture in my apartment and really had none when I got locked up.    When I was married 3 times before and got divorced, I felt the discomfort.    In each and every one of those situations, I used the discomfort of discomfort to make new way.    I worked harder.    Worked longer than everyone else.    And guess what?   I won.     Last weekend, my 2nd oldest and I mowed 10 acres.    Sure, I can afford to hire soemone, but Im teaching my kids about life and how it woks by staying in the discomfort zone.    It's the only way growth happens.    I still got to the gym and work my body daily.    I still do yardwork.    I do chores around the house.    I work later and longer at work.    Why?    In my experience, discomfort keeps me sharp and continuously evolving.    Figure out what you want.    It's waiting for you in the discomfort zone.    About the ReWire Podcast   The ReWire Podcast with Ryan Stewman – Dive into powerful insights as Ryan Stewman, the HardCore Closer, breaks down mental barriers and shares actionable steps to rewire your thoughts. But instead of following them he chose corrections — and over a 22 year career from the late 1970s to the early 2000s he rose from correctional officer to captain to deputy warden to warden of Rikers Island — the largest and most violent jail in America.
