In March 1998, Jeffrey Franklin, a 17-year-old high school student from Huntsville, Alabama, brutally attacked his family in their home in the Camelot subdivision. Armed with a hatchet, sledgehammer, and knife, Franklin killed his mother, Cynthia, and father, Gerald, and severely injured three of his younger siblings. Two other siblings managed to escape the attack unharmed. When police arrived, they found a horrifying crime scene described as one of the most gruesome in Huntsville's history. Franklin, who had fled in his parents' car, was captured a short time later after a police chase. Investigators later uncovered Franklin's journal entries, which detailed his fascination with Satanism and violent fantasies about killing his family. He was described as a bright but deeply troubled teenager who had been suspended from school earlier that day for bringing a knife. In 2000, Jeffrey Franklin pleaded guilty to two counts of capital murder and three counts of attempted murder, avoiding the death penalty due to his age. He was sentenced to 5 life sentences.https://linktr.ee/UnforbiddentruthBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unforbidden-truth--4724561/support.

Rattling the Bars's Mansa Musa explores how a one-woman play, The Peculiar Patriot, reveals the human cost of mass incarceration and the enduring ties between slavery and the prison system. The artist behind the play, Liza Jessie Peterson, has worked with incarcerated youth for decades, bringing their stories to the stage and to national audiences. Performed in more than 35 US prisons and filmed at Louisiana's Angola Prison—once a plantation, now a maximum-security facility—the play became the basis of the documentary, Angola: Do You Hear Us? (Paramount Plus / Amazon Prime). As the fight for abolition and prison reform gains momentum, this story reminds us that art is not decoration—it's a tool for awakening, organizing, and freedom.

In Whitefish, prosecutors have amended charges against three protesters accused of blocking a U.S. Border Patrol vehicle earlier this year, escalating penalties in the case. Rick and Jay talk about stupid mistakes, shoe money, James Burrows, Cheers, directing people, not getting the girl, and the moment you reveal your big secret and no one cares.Bio: Rick Beren grew up in the Sixties and Seventies in the very liberal Bay Area. Even then, he managed to push the boundaries of tolerance of his parents, teachers, and eventually, the law. Mostly minor indiscretions, and all (always) in the pursuit of fun, but it landed him in the Vacaville State prison for selling one quarter gram of cocaine. The quality was so poor, he should've been convicted of false advertising. Anyway, his girlfriend also was sent to State prison (unfortunately, not by his side) for women. She had sold the same undercover agent, some 200 amphetamine pills. They were in college at the time (1977) and spent about 5 months in jail. The story of Ricks book is told with humor, compassion and a what the fuck attitude of how could this little, entitled, Jew end up in prison with Charles Manson and his ilk? As I say, He was probably always headed in that direction. Speaking of direction. In less than five years after his release, he was the director's assistant on his favorite show, Cheers. Rick found his life calling and immersed himself in the bliss of being around these amazingly talented people. He worked his way up the ladder and became a director himself and on that very show! He went on to direct many shows and worked in the industry for four decades. Along the way, he fell into an amazing relationship (with a girl who was not an ex-con) and they have two (so far not ex-con) daughters. Life turned out pretty fucking great. And the highlight of his life and career was being able to spend time with Jay ( the legend) Kogen in an intimate (edited) two hour conversation. Jay wants his time backing the form of a poker game where he can monetize his efforts.

“My biggest Pivot is when I set out to do something and people doubt me. I like to have my back against the wall, that's something that makes me.” Norega What happens when a rap legend trades the stage for the mic, and then turns that mic into a cultural movement? Ryan, Channing and Fred sit down with N.O.R.E.—once frontman of the Queens duo Capone‑N‑Noreaga, still a platinum-selling solo act, and now one of hip-hop's most trusted voices behind the mic. We get to know N.O.R.E behind the fame and see him as the family man who loves being a grandpa, building wealth with his wife, who wakes up at 4am to embark on training for the NYC marathon, the guy in the group chat who is always motivating you and the friend who reaches out just to check in. In this wide-ranging conversation, we cover his journey through music, from his early days in Queens, going from jail to how meeting NAS changed his entire perspective on life to being one of the originals to boast Reggaeton to shifting into podcasting, co-founding the hit show Drink Champs with DJ EFN to becoming constant presence in hip hop culture. He takes the guys behind-the-scenes of hip-hop's biggest names, the compliment from 50 Cent that impacted his legacy to Kanye West naming his first child after him to the unexpected collaborations to the “you wouldn't believe” stories to his regret with Michael Jordan and how he's continuing to shape culture in a forever changing society. N.O.R.E shares how he developed a "whatever it takes" mentality to stay relevant as he's seen the culture he's helped build evolve three times over—on the mic, in the studio, in media. This episode is filled with raw energy, unfiltered truths, sharp humor, and the kind of storytelling only someone who's lived it can deliver. Whether you grew up riding the “Super Thug” beat or you're discovering N.O.R.E.'s impact for the first time, this episode is a bridge—between then & now, between rap and media, between the grind and the growth and where we are headed next. Tune in for a conversation that reminds us- a pivot isn't just a change—it's a choice and a continuous movement of evolution. And when you've seen it all, it's what you do next that counts. October 20-26So, here's a question: In the midst of all the challenges, trials, privations and difficulties the Saints experienced in Missouri, how is it that when the Church really needed the leadership of the Prophet Joseph, God allowed him to be put in an obscure and remote Jail, ironically called Liberty? Why would God do that? This is the Kingdom of God on the earth. Isn't the God of the Universe watching out for His chosen Prophet? Let's explore that question today.
In the final weeks before his death, Jeffrey Epstein's state of mind was a chaotic blend of despair, denial, and defiance. Jail records show he was restless, sleepless, and visibly agitated — crouching in his cell with his hands over his ears to drown out noise, pacing aimlessly, and struggling to adjust from luxury to confinement. Guards noted his anxiety and mood swings, describing him as alternately withdrawn and frustrated. He reportedly called himself a “coward” and told staff he couldn't bear the isolation, yet insisted to psychologists that he wasn't suicidal, saying it would be “crazy” to kill himself and that he still had a “wonderful life.” The collapse of his empire — from private jets and palatial homes to a concrete cell — shattered the narcissistic image he'd built over decades. Psychologists later concluded that Epstein's entire sense of self was tied to control, power, and prestige — all of which had been stripped away, leaving him psychologically cornered and destabilized. However, his attorney David Schoen told a starkly different story. In a five-hour meeting just days before Epstein's death, Schoen said his client was “animated and energized,” focused on his legal defense, and adamant about fighting the charges in court. Epstein had reportedly asked Schoen to take over as lead counsel and appeared optimistic about his chances. That interaction led Schoen to firmly reject the idea of suicide, arguing that Epstein's mindset was far from hopeless. He cited forensic pathologist Michael Baden's findings that Epstein's neck fractures were “more consistent with homicidal strangulation than suicidal hanging.” Between the prison records describing agitation and the lawyer's insistence on Epstein's resolve, the truth of Epstein's final state of mind remains contested — split between the image of a crumbling man at the edge of despair and that of a calculating manipulator who still believed he could talk his way out of hell.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.com

Journalist Jesse Bogan of the Marshall Project reports on the case of Megan Jolly, a 52-year-old woman who has been jailed at the St. Charles County Justice Center for nearly two years. Jolly is among more than 500 Missouri defendants deemed mentally incompetent to stand trial and are waiting for a state-mandated treatment to restore competency. The backlog has surged since 2013, leaving many in limbo. Bogan discusses why the Missouri Department of Mental Health is “continually at absolute bed capacity for competency restoration”. He also gives further details on Jolly and other defendants awaiting psychiatric treatment.
Surrender Isn't Weakness, It's Freedom with Yeshaia Blakeney | The Hopeaholics PodcastIn this thought-provoking and deeply human episode, Yeshaia Blakeney opens up about his journey through addiction, self-destruction, and spiritual awakening with striking honesty and wisdom. Growing up in the chaos of Hollywood, Yeshaia describes feeling emotionally adrift and spiritually disconnected long before drugs entered the picture. What began as an attempt to escape pain and emptiness eventually led him into the darkness of addiction, arrests, and broken relationships. He recounts sitting in a jail cell — the moment he realized, “This isn't who I am” — and how that breaking point became the foundation of his recovery. Through faith, humility, and an unrelenting search for truth, Yeshaia found that healing wasn't about willpower, but surrender. He now dedicates his life to helping others rediscover their own humanity, guiding people toward authenticity, connection, and spiritual growth through his work at Recovery Integrity. With disarming vulnerability, he challenges the misconception that sobriety alone is the goal, emphasizing instead that true recovery means finding meaning, love, and purpose beyond the pain. Anthony Swofford is an American writer and former U.S. Marine, best known for his memoir, Jarhead, which details his experiences in the 1990-91 Persian Gulf War as part of a Surveillance and Target Acquisition/Scout-Sniper platoon. He received the PEN/Martha Albrand Award for the Art of the Memoir for Jarhead. A feature film of Jarhead, directed by Sam Mendes and featuring Jake Gyllenhall, playing Tony Swofford, was released in 2005.Subsequent to his military service, Tony pursued writing, earning a B.A. from UC Davis and an M.F.A. from the renowned Iowa Writers' Workshop. He's taught at the University of Iowa, Lewis and Clark College, and currently Carnegie-Mellon University. I've read Jarhead and watched the movie multiple times and can tell you Tony's story is as harrowing as it is darkly funny. I was blown away by the depths of Tony's beautifully written, dare I say poetic telling of such a deeply personal, nerve-wracking experience. I've also read another of Tony's memoirs, Hotels, Hospitals, and Jails, which is an equally wild ride through his personal and family life, especially dealing with his ailing father who was trying to maintain his boisterous lifestyle as his body was failing him. Both books are brilliantly written. I highly recommend them to you, as well as his novel, Exit A.Tony has also published fiction and nonfiction in numerous major publications. including The New York Times and Harper's.

The RHOC finale has left the cast totally confused, shocked and divided over what some are calling Tamra Judge's season long plan to take down, out and or eliminate Miss Gretchen Rossi. Now that Tamra has brought to light many Transphobic tweets which Gretchen denies liking, one thing has become crystal clear. Next weeks RHOC reunion is sure to be a game changer, if not cast changer, as we close out this season and head into RHOC 20. Wendy seems to be so worried about her Wife Swap episode, her RHOC future and exactly what she will say to the many questions she is bound to receive at BravoCon that one has to wonder if she realizes she could be facing many, many years in prison. Gia Giudice slams RHONJ fans in an outrage over Teresa and Melissa. Finally, Erika Jayne seems to rub, have rubbed and is rubbing a lot of people the wrong way, still. @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef BONUS & AD FREE EPISODES Available at - www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope BROUGHT TO YOU BY: MICROPERFUMES - microperfumes.com/velvet (Up To 60% Your Favorite Perfumes In Pocket Sized Vials) THEREALREAL - therealreal.com/velvetrope (Get $25 Off At the Best Place To Shop Authenticated Luxury Bags, Clothing, Watches & more) THE KARDASHIANS - (Watch Season 7 Now On Hulu) PROGRESSIVE - www.progressive.com (Visit Progressive.com To See If You Could Save On Car Insurance) MOOD - www.mood.com/velvet (20% Off With Code Velvet on Federally Legal THC Shipped Right To Your Door) ADVERTISING INQUIRIES - Please contact David@advertising-execs.com Learn more about your ad choices. CBP Admits Fake Record Used to Jail Bolsonaro Advisor in Brazil. Mary Anastasia O'Grady discusses how US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) admitted an erroneous entry record was created and used by Brazilian Justice Alexandre de Moraes to jail Filipe Martins, an advisor to former President Bolsonaro. De Moraes used the apparently fake I-94 document, which contained a misspelling and a canceled passport number, to hold Martins for 183 days to extract information about an alleged coup plot. The unprecedented CBP admission confirms a file violation and suggests ongoing malfeasance. 1920 RIO
