Swamp Thing! Do you still make our heart sing? We return to Alan Moore's classic series with Volume 4: A Murder of Crows, which collects issues #43-50 where we get some nice redesigns of Swamp Thing's flora. We also tie into the Crisis and meet lots of other heroes, plus we get some more insight into what John Constantine is like. Then we move onto our next long read with Earth X #0, which is set in the future... we think. It's hard to tell after this introductory issue. Next Time: One Piece Vol. 1: Romance Dawn

Hey everybody! Paul Hix is back, and we're here to talk more Swamp Thing! An interesting two part story this time, as a Native American man has discovered a fountain of youth, and he befriends a Swamp Thing doppleganger! Where did it come from and how did it come into being? Don't worry, Paul and I will explain this biological conundrum. Or at least we'll try! This story was written by Gerry Conway, and originally planned for a giant sized issue, but ended up being published as two separate issues. So join us as we talk about this fun story! As usual, if you want to leave any feedback for the show, you can do so through email at Magazinesandmonsters@gmail.com or to me on Twitter @Billyd_licious or on the show's FB page (just search Magazines and Monsters). It's a time travel story! This week on the show, we're reading some Fantastic Four from the early 90s in issues #350 & 352, written and drawn by the great Walt Simonson (don't worry about issue #351). We dip our toe into the FF status quo from this era to see a new Thing? And then another new Thing?!?! Then we move onto the finale of Knightfall in Batman #500 where our new replacement Batman has his final fight against Bane. INTERVIEW: Equal parts artist and writer, Phil Hester has been doing the comic book thing for 30 years now! He broke into the mainstream via his work with Kevin Smith on an adaptation of the film Clerks. That connection got him noticed in the DC offices, and soon it was off to the races, penciling Swamp Thing and more. Phil's art is perhaps best known from a long run on Green Arrow, where he collaborated with A-list writers like Smith, Brad Meltzer, and Judd Winick. More interesting work followed, including Irredeemable Ant-Man (with Robert Kirkman), El Diablo, and Green Hornet. He even moved into writing, taking over for J. Michael Straczynski on Wonder Woman. And Phil has a humongous collection of original art! You can follow Phil on Facebook and X (@philhester). _____________________If you like this podcast, please rate, review, and subscribe on Apple Podcasts. Although we've reviewed several movie adaptations of comics in previous episodes (SWAMP THING, BLADE, CONSTANTINE, etc), we're delighted to review our first comic miniseries on the podcast: NIGHT OF THE GHOUL from writer Scott Snyder and artist Francesco Francavilla. We then discuss a drug kingpin joining a mysterious Universal monster movie, plus a new resident of Hawkins, Indiana, a film based on a thriller novel, and the latest updates on Swamp Thing. We then close out Horror Business with a Hannibal reunion. For our film reviews, we take a look at a couple classics. First up is the winner of the Slasher division, the name amongst names, the iconic Friday the 13th. We then blast off into outer space to examine the winner of the Sci-Fi division, James Cameron's Aliens. So grab a can of your favorite beverage and let's get this party started.
