You tell us!

Bei Roland heißt es passenderweise „Out of Alcatraz“. Dazu kommt Neues in Schrift und bewegten Bildern von den Drei Fragezeichen nebst Biographien von Mechner und Meier – sowie „The Human Target“ aus dem DC-Universum, das Superhelden und 007-Agentenstories mixt, Farbschnitt inklusive. Solche Mixturen müssen nicht immer gelingen, wie entsprechende Werke über die Beatles und die Welt der Videospiele zeigen. Fast schon einer dieser legendären Deep Dives! Videospiele? Na klar: „Astro Bot“, „The Witcher 3“, „Jagd auf Roter Oktober“ sind es bei Jürgen und seiner Tochter, Roland hat Edward Kenways Kostüme in „The Division 2“ nebst Season-Reise im Sack. Themenverwandt fragen wir: Wo bleibt das nächste „Splinter Cell“? Was kann „Kena: Scars of Kosmora“? This week, we're stealing a couple hours of your time to discuss The Rats: A Witcher Tale, the prequel movie that dropped at the same time as Season 4 and is designed to be watched after it…despite taking place well before. (The Witcher's up to its timeline shenanigans again, it seems.) Paired with the perfectly-themed Master of the Thieves Guild Blended Bourbon by Quest's End Whiskey, we keep things loose, lively and liquidated as we unpack the plots—meaning both the film's narrative and the Rats' plot to steal loads of cash—and try to figure out just what happened to this thing behind the scenes. Also, we come out in favor of bathing with a drunken Dolph Lundgren, debate the role of cephalopods in sex dens and reveal why when it comes to spider women, most movies just like to tease.

2011 års Game of the Year.

This book shifts the focus toward political intrigue, looming war, and Ciri's growing importance in a world that wants to control her power. With Geralt navigating fractured alliances, Yennefer stepping into complicated mentorship, and kingdoms circling like vultures, the story expands the scope of the Witcher universe beyond monster hunts into high-stakes fantasy politics.

By now, you're no doubt tired of hearing us ramble about season four. So, in this week's episode, it's Producer Sean who does it! We finally got our maestro of Malcontent Media to marathon all eight episodes, and he has some thoughts about…well, pretty much all of it. Liamralt! Larry Fish! Vilgefortz's evil minions! Sex montages! And as if that's not enough, it all happens over a bottle of Proof of Life, a strangely goth non-alcoholic whiskey that we mix up into some mean mocktails. It's a season four celebration that's low on ABV, high on attitude and packed with new perspective. It might not always be clear or coherent perspective, but it's new!

Send a textA rapper in a Honda Civic just outplayed the internet. We break down how J. Cole's trunk-sold CDs, city-to-city drop-ins, and breadcrumb clues turned casual listeners into dedicated hunters—and why more than 200,000 people still crushed a single presale queue. The story isn't just hype; it's a blueprint for connection in a noisy era. When an artist hints this might be the last “J. Cole” album for a while and then shows up in person, the stakes change. Scarcity turns into urgency, and presence becomes the product. We dig into the album's grip and a tantalizing what-if: Cole bar-for-bar over outside producers like Alchemist and 9th Wonder. Would a fully external soundscape unlock a new chapter? The conversation widens into the Big Three debate, where craft, persona, and promotion all collide. Cole's rollout didn't chase spectacle—it built trust—while still driving record physical sales and impossible queues. We swap stories from the field, including a near-miss sighting tracked with Google Lens, and the white-knuckle hunt for tickets, VIP shock included.Culture never sits still, so we push further. Jill Scott's new album shines, Floetry's reunion sparks nostalgia questions, and a left turn to Mobile Suit Gundam (1979) reminds us why some worlds never age: strong stakes, moral weight, and style that still punches. We also unpack the latest streaming shuffle with Cartoon Network and Warner Bros. content sliding to Tubi, plus a spirited tier list of game franchises—Fallout, Mass Effect, The Sims, Dragon Age, Wolfenstein, Halo, The Witcher—to test what truly endures. Hit play for a fast, thoughtful ride through music, fandom, and the mechanics of staying power. If this run is Cole's last lap for a while, it's a masterclass in how to finish strong. In today's Daily Fix:Xbox Game Pass Wave 2 titles have been revealed, and there are some big open-world heavy-hitters. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 all make their way to the service, among other games. In other news, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile will go offline in just a couple of months—not to be confused with Call of Duty: Mobile, which is still going strong (and also has a battle royale mode). And finally, a toy set from the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie may have spoiled the reveal of a beloved NES character.

Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we continue our series on Ultima IV. We talk about the boat, we talk about dungeons (a tiny bit), we deep dive into NPCs and consequences, we talk about the quests and how everything is in the world, and answer some listener email. Dev Game Club looks at classic video games and plays through them over several episodes, providing commentary. Sections played: More of Ultima IV (Much more, in B's case) Issues covered: revisiting locations and finding new things, a game that does a lot with a little, everything existing in the world, getting to know the world, NPCs sharing sprites and being hard to remember, getting a ship and fighting your way on, broadside combat, dying to a waterspout, wanting to search the oceans, badly simulating tacking, riding a horse, being interrupted in any location, trying to replicate the tabletop experience, feeling like a "yes" game, whether what you do matters, can you be a thief, watering down a morality system, having a limited palette of options at any one time, layering frosting, taking out the friction and icky feeling, the niche audience of some RPGs, taking elements from older games and bringing them into modern games, asking questions of the player who is also the character, avoiding the uncanny valley, an aside into adventure mode, the horseshoe effect on NPCs, reaching the limits of what the human brain can contemplate, an aside into Dunbar's number, facing the same challenges, chunking chapters, feeling the anxiety of there being too much, coalescing your notes from time to time, the telescope moment and seeing the map, the lack of loot, preparing to do things, validating your assumptions, having to revisit everywhere, the friction of Pikmin, getting good controllers, handheld mode, the Wavebird, bouncing off character creation, character creation we've liked, wanting a story to wrap around a more specific character, the generic hero, having fun with a character creator, a freeing character creator. Games, people, and influences mentioned or discussed: Final Fantasy (series), Gold Box (series), Eye of the Beholder, Outer Wilds, The Witcher (series), Beowulf, Dungeons & Dragons, Wizardry (series), BioWare, Mass Effect, BioShock, Dishonored, CD Project Red, Cyberpunk 2077, Baldur's Gate III, Thief, Robin Hood, VtM Bloodlines, Undertale, Dark Souls, Land of the Lost, Dwarf Fortress, Planescape: Torment, Metroid / Castlevania, Richard Garriott, Sasha, Pikmin, Nintendo, Shigeru Miyamoto, Switch, PlayStation, Analog Pocket, Ashton Herrmann, Monkey Island, Wing Commander, Morrowind, Fallout 3, Dragon Age: Origins, Bethesda Game Studios, Blizzard, World of Warcraft, Diablo (series), Metal Gear Solid V, Hideo Kojima, Saint's Row IV, Call of Cthulhu, Asher, Cuphead, KyleAndError, Hitman, FFSZilla, MGS: VR Missions, Kirk Hamilton, Aaron Evers, Mark Garcia.  Note: Because Ultima IV has very little music to speak of, I will be substituting music from later in the series in the openings to these episodes TTDS: 38:30 Links: Majuular Ultima IV video recommended by Chris  Next time: Finish Ultima IV Twitch: timlongojr and twinsunscorp YouTube Discord  DevGameClub@gmail.com

With so much of the world focused on games right now, it seemed only natural for us to do the same and the results are pure off-the-rails gold. (If they gave medals for going on random tangents, we'd be the competitors to beat.) In this new side quest, we discuss Reigns: The Witcher, the just-announced Witcher mobile game releasing later this month, before we deep dive into all the recent rumors about a possible new Witcher 3 DLC. Could they be true, and if so, what would we like to see? We consider the pros and cons of releasing DLC for a game that's now over a decade old before we wrap up with Valerie's thoughts on The Conqueror's Witcher Virtual Challenge and why she may never make it out of Velen. Oh, and we wind up talking about sex cards. Because of course we do.

It's been a remarkable ride, but The Witcher's fourth season has finally reached its end and it's going out with a splash! (As in river water, not whiskey. We're not THAT drunk.) With Geralt and co. looking to cross the Yaruga, we open up a bottle of Flatboat Kentucky Straight Single Barrel Bourbon to help them on their journey. Unlike our favorite witcher, no arrows are shot at us as we discuss the fast-paced finale, not even when we rant about what may be Valerie's least favorite Yen outfit so far, tear into the utterly nonsensical monster fight and roll our eyes at the fact that Nimue is still going on about destiny while possibly traumatizing a child. More positively, we welcome Milva back to the show (seriously, girl, where did you go?), declare our allegiance to Queen Meve and wonder if the Rats should have reconsidered that offer Bonhart made them. It's an unforgettable discussion full of twists, turns and the occasional movie rec, as we say goodbye to our favorite fantasy franchise for another season!

After years of secrecy and many delays, Xbox is set to pull the lid off one of its most anticipated RPGs at the upcoming Developer Direct. First rumored in 2017 and announced in 2020, Fable has been baking at Playground Games, the prolific racing game studio, for a long, long time. Now, Xbox promises a deep dive on everything from combat and choice to British humor and chickens. Is it do or die time for Fable? How does its early year showing shake up the already packed summer showcase? Will we finally get a release date? Perhaps just a release year? Indeed, there are so many questions, but most of these will be announced very shortly!
