Imagine being cast into the role of one of the most iconic characters in movie history and becoming part of possibly the greatest trilogy of all time. That is EXACTLY what happened to Jeffrey Weissman when he stepped into the role of George McFly for Back To The Future 2 and 3! It was a long road to get there and a long road to get back but luckily...where we're going, we don't need any roads. Jeffrey started out doing extra work in Hollywood and getting brain washed by Alice Cooper (yes I said what I said...listen in), to doing a movie with Clint Eastwood, to a monster on the wing in the Twilight Zone movie and he was even a lacky for Screech on Saved By The Bell. You can now catch Jeffrey still with his hands in so many projects but of course appearing at cons across the country for all of us loyal BTTF fans! There is so much laughter and so much fun and some incredible stories in this episode so sit back and get ready to go back....to the future! Here are the links we discuss within the episode for projects Jeffrey is involved in and of course the BTTF website for updates on appearances and more!Get Thee Backhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1TkDzAy_-gProject 88https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcUUjWbVc4IBTTF Websitehttps://www.backtothefuture.com/Mark Twain Lecturehttps://marktwainstudies.com/events/the-trouble-begins-at-eight/Rock!

We're back, but we're not back to Riverdale this week. Nope, the Archie Creative Writing Class (which is failing, by the way) is here to create a (maybe?) shadow universe where everything is just fine and good until everyone joins a cult. Seriously, this episode is straight up weird, and if it weren't for Cole Sprouse's goofy grin every time he appears as Rod Serling we'd be off to a very bumpy start to Season 6. Then again, it's really hard to know what's going on because they're doing a 5-part mini-arc that you just know they desperately wanted released during Halloween instead of the holidays. “Welcome to Rivervale” as we discuss the Season 6 premiere this week on The Doghouse. We have two stories coming at you this episode and they have their fair share of mystery. In our first story, we talk about the disappearance of 19-year-old Bryce Laspisa whose erratic behavior will lead you confused and clueless just as it has left Bryce's parents, friends, and investigators since August of 2013. For seemingly no reason, Bryce leaves his college town and heads towards his parents' home miles away but never makes it home. There has been no trace of him since that night. It truly sounds like something you would see on an episode of "The Twilight Zone" but on that show, you would at least get some explanation as to what happened. With this story, over 8 years later, all we are left with is questions. Our second story of this episode is all about the small town of Skidmore, Missouri, and its dark, vicious history. Home to an all-around giant piece of shit, Ken Rex McElroy (who we covered all the way back in episode 15!), Skidmore has seen its fair share of brutal murders and mysterious disappearances. This story covers a lot of depraved acts committed by Skidmore's citizens and sounds less like an episode of "The Twilight Zone" and more like a grindhouse horror film you would only find on a list of Video Nasties. A Brother Reflections reunion. Check out BROTHER here: https://brothermusic.com/ Chances are you've seen BROTHER on NBC's ‘ER', maybe heard their music on the classic ‘Baraka' soundtrack or UPN's ‘ Twilight Zone.' The band has shared stages with Joe Walsh, John Entwhistle, Linkin Park, and Alicia Keys and are the only independent band to have played the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  Fusing signature vocals and guitar with the deep pulse of the didgeridoo, the soaring highs of the bagpipes, and tribal percussion, BROTHER is wholly original. The band's powerhouse live performances are an energetic celebration, captivating and engaging the audience from the first song to the last.  Angus, founding member of BROTHER, arrived in Los Angeles from Australia with his brothers a decade ago as little more than fresh-faced farm boys. In LA, they found themselves busking at Venice Beach, the Hollywood Bowl and Universal Studios to survive. Since those days, BROTHER evolved its trademark sound while touring extensively in the United States and in Canada, Japan, France, Egypt and Australia.  They did it all free from standard industry trends and pigeon-holes. BROTHER has self-released 12 albums, sold more CDs in the USA than any other independent Australian act and has regularly been cited as a role model within the independent scene.

We talk about the variables in a child's education that go unseen or underestimated, like sleep and eating habits. Specifically, we go over how to get past food ruts and expand their palettes with variety and agency in the grocery shopping process. Not to be left out, every parent's rival, frustration, goes under the microscope to be dissected into rational bits of wisdom and ah-ha moments. By the end of this interview, you might be convinced that Dr. Beck is the first to have all the answers. Common throughout the episode, though, is communication. One area of the parent-child dynamic that's always in our favor, subtle communication techniques can make all the difference in any range of issues: educational, nutritional, social, behavioral, and so on. Pick your spots right, and how something is said can be more important than what is said at all. Dr. Beck and I connect on many topics, not the least of which being my mom's propensity to scan nutrition labels. And JOY – the missing ingredient in childhood nutrition – and a great word to describe this interview. This week, host Craig checks out “Reap What You Sow,” a fan-made Twilight Zone episode in the spirit of the original series, then gazes backward at his own (sadly unrealized) dream of creating... well, something along the same lines. Friend of the show Carson Cohen returns for some much-needed fact checking, then we wrap up with some reportage on an exciting Rod Serling-related crowdfunding campaign. Oh, it's also Hallowe'en, which we're apparently not observing at all this year. Boo indeed.    Theme: “Neither Here nor There (Yet Another Revision version)” by Twin Loops (used by permission).  “Two Semi-Metallic Human Beings” composed by Howard Shore (from album David Cronenberg's Crash: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, copyright 1996 by Milan Records).  “Babylon” performed by Control X (from the album To Abort Transmission, copyright 1995 by Instinct Ambient Records).    As Timeless as Infinity: A Rod Serling Monument Kickstarter campaign:  https://bit.ly/3w1kcpH  If you haven't seen “Reap What You Sow,” go watch it before CBS issues a cease-and-desist notice!  https://youtu.be/f5GOQVgeAzk    The Twilight Zone is a trademark of CBS, Inc.  Between Light and Shadow: A Twilight Zone Podcast is a nonprofit podcast. The big O' HALLOWEEN episode! We talk the debut of “Operation: B.L.U.E.”, our movie picks of the spooky season (some new, and some old and dirty… Chuck Norris), and also review TKO’s new anthology, “Tales of Terror.” Put your costume back on for the last hay-ride into comic book hell as we celebrate the greatest time of the year. The Revenge crew have dropped the first page of their creature-feature, action-adventure, web comic, “Operation: B.L.U.E.” If today was the year 1985 the elevator pitch would be: “Imagine the A-team (but as bad-o ladies) hunting down the giant mutant bear from Prophecy. A new page will drop every Friday night, free of course (as always). Later, there will be some “paid content” showing how this beasty sausage is made (gross). We gotta’ keep the lights on some how. Sample the creative process, mid-grind:Wow…. Would you look at all that… stuff. Just for one little page. Again, the new page (pg. #0) is already up and ready for consumption. And don’t forget, brought to you by everyone’s favorite underground, never been heard of imprint, GNAR PIG. Some say they’re like the Wolverine; “the best there is at what….” If you ask me, (Tadd) I don’t really know, but I’ve been told this has been said by somebody… somewhere.New Page every Friday.A fun horror anthology just in time to cap off All Hallows’ Eve; TKO presents: Tales of Terror.Even though the book itself would be categorized within the horror genre, each individual story is presented as a “Tale of Terror” that dips a toe into a different sub-genre. So you get some sci-fi, some war and so on. Setting the classic TV vibe of Outer Limits or Twilight Zone with a diversity of characters, voices, and styles. The most beautiful thing about this anthology is the smorgasbord of styles. From the variations in writing voices to the execution of art in storytelling.Pre-orders are happening now only at TKO. Check it!That’s it tiger cubs. Blowing out the candles, locking the gate, cause this haunted house is all out of candy. HAPPY HALLOWEEN (insert sinister laugh)!Hit the music!T & B Like what you’ve heard, saw, even read? Happy Halloween, canoneers! In this spooktacular bonus episode, we read and discuss five selections from Alvin Schwartz's "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" series. Infamous for their horrifyingly non-child friendly accompanying illustrations, these lil guys were a staple of late twentieth century childhood (for one of our hosts, anyway).  Theo gets white girl wasted and removes his shirt. Jackie's mailbox is used to commit multiple felonies. Rachel keeps it light. And finally, two out of two women on this podcast agree: they would eat the fish. Topics include: weebs, Schrodinger's nips, well-fitting suits, Men's Wearhouse, power moves, Three-o's return, A Series of Unfortunate Events, hissing intent, Gator Grove, the importance of pre-nups, expensive sombreros, the psittacosaurus, xoloitzcuintli, rabies, two-legged horses, whether rats make good pets, demonologist-veterinarians, Tumblr, Harry Styles x Your Name, The Twilight Zone, Cherie Berry, and future handwriting. Stories discussed: "Harold", "The Wreck", "Alligators", "Sam's New Pet", and "The Bed by the Window".

Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast we are talking to Rachel Pollack, daughter of Director, Actor, Producer Sydney Pollack. You might remember some of the rather small films Sydney Pollack directed like Out of Africa, The Firm, Three Days of the Condor, Electric Horseman, The Way We Were or perhaps you remember him acting (and directing as well) in movies and television shows like Tootsie, The Sopranos, Will and Grace, The Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock Presents and other obscure productions. Oh right, Sydney Pollack also won an Oscar, an Emmy and his films have been nominated form a total of 48 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director for Out of Africa. Rachel lets us in on life with dad (and mum Claire Griswold) who cooked more than they went out for dinner, who once came to her to ask who Dave Matthews was before a meeting, whose love of flying was where he was happiest and his 24 hour prep to make his famous ribs. We take a deep dive into the basis of his entire career in show business from his years studying at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theater in New York with the legendary acting teacher Stanley Miesner which led him to Broadway acting with both Zero Mostel & Tyrone Power, a Playhouse 90 episode directed by John Frankenheimer which led him to Hollywood as a vocal coach and how the advice of Burt Lancaster got him to direct his first film. It's a fascinating episode for all that and the wonderful antidote from Rachel that the more famous the actor, the less attention she paid to them. Take that Tom Cruise! Everyone has a story on this episode of the Rarified Heir Podcast.

Look out! This latest episode of Crush Fictionally is firing on all cylinders and racing through the busy streets of the City by the Bay. Our theme is planes, trains, and automobiles. Or more specifically, we are discussing our favorite fictional characters who are in, using, or stuck on some form of transportation. For help on this topic, we called in reinforcements. At the helm and guiding the way on this fun voyage are friends, movie and VHS aficionados, and cool hosts of Rewind Wednesday at Balboa Theater in San Francisco Ashley Graham and Chloe Ginnever (@balboatheater). With the charm and likability of a young Tommy Callahan, Chloe and Ashley help us examine how life is a journey and which fictional character we'd choose for our trip. And if we learned anything from Kim's trip to Curaçao, it's that no man is worth getting on a no-fly list for. Who are our ride-or-die picks this week? We are making room on our door for Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) *and* Rose (Kate Winslet) of Titanic. Revving our engine is Robert Wilson (William Shatner) of Twilight Zone's "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" episode. And we are riding into the sunset with the Sundance Kid (Robert Redford) of Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid. -------- SHOW INFO Crush Fictionally is produced and edited by Peter Byrnes.
