A woman, played with a disarming ease by Claire Lovering, is mourning the passing of her dog. As she drills into the wall to hang up a picture of her pup, she is surprised to find blood coming out of the hole. Heading to the other side of the wall, she finds the dead body - the first of the dilemmas she encounters. The next is Damon Herriman's organised crime cleaner. From here, DIY unfurls in a delirious level of bleak comedy that splashes the audience with acidity as we're invited to laugh along with the depths that Tony and Lachlan's characters fall into.I caught up with Tony and Lachlan ahead of DIYs screenings at both the St Kilda Film Festival on 8 June and the Sydney Film Festival on 14 June, where the film is a finalist in the Dendy Awards for Australian Short Films. Motorcycle clubs get some attention this week on Movies Merica with the new Jeff Nichols movie “The Bikeriders.” You may know Jeff Nichols from his previous movies “Mud” and “Midnight Special.” This movie stars Tom Hardy as Johnny, the founder of the Vandals bike riding club and Austin Butler as Benny, another member. Butler is like a younger “rebel without a cause” member to Hardy's older, settled but still rough founder. Enter Jodie Comer as Austin Butler's wife Kathy, who is scared of the club, yet intrigued and awed by it. As you might expect, this bike riding club doesn't just stay a bunch of guys and their old ladies riding around, having a great time. These are roughnecks who just don't care, so that gets them in trouble with people who hate bike riders, the law and other clubs. The heat gets turned up on the club and life gets bloody real fast and this causes tension between Johnny, Kathy and Benny. The club also has to deal with increasing danger as the club expands to other cities and they find they now have some scarier members that don't take orders from anybody, not even Johnny. Nude Tuesday is a brand new 5-star comedy from Armagan Ballantyne and Jackie van Beek about a suburban couple who go to a new-age retreat as a last ditch attempt to save their marriage. Their path to reconnection is riddled with hilarity and humiliation as they seek to find themselves and each other.In this episode Tim chats to Jemaine Clement and Damon Herriman. Damon Herriman plays Bruno, who Damon describes as “a real mix of qualities. He's super optimistic, he has a very sunny demeanour and is very enthusiastic about life, but he also has a short fuse – people can press his buttons very easily.” Damon is known for playing Dewey on FX's Justified and for portraying Charles Manson in the Netflix smash hit Mindhunter and then again in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.Jemaine Clement is, of course, one half of Flight of The Conchords, the co-creator and star of What We Do in The Shadows and has recently been shooting on James Cameron's upcoming Avatar sequels. Damon Herriman is an Adelaide born actor who has had success both nationally and internationally in film, TV and theatre. In the past 10-15 years, Damon has become known for playing bad, creepy, unsettled and quirky characters, but this wasn't always the case for him. Early on in his career, Damon couldn't even get an audition for these types of roles until he was able to change the industry's perception of him. Damon created a lot of buzz in the industry when he played Charles Manson in both Mind Hunter and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood in the same year.
