POPULARITY
From Facebook to store front - It's the business dream in 2020. Hear the incredible story of small business owner Luke Dickens. He currently owns two of the most popular record stores in the Des Moines, IA metro area. He started a Facebook group to talk about collecting vinyl and it soon grew into a profitable marketplace. Within a few months his small circle of record buyers turned into an actual record store. Now he's battling to keep the paychecks coming to his employees by going back to what brought him to the dance - the Facebook group Vinyl Cup Records for Sale
It's been eight years between drinks, but Luke Dickens is back with a new album.
Night Listeners of 98.9FM KFMG -It's September and it is our tenth week on air. Who could have imagined I could keep this up for this long? Most of my friends can't, but that's OK. This week I have Luke Dickens on the program who recently opened the doors to his own record shop in the Beaverdale neighborhood in Des Moines called Vinyl Cup. Luke brings a playlist of tunes that I have never played on the show before. I felt like the odd man out as he and studio manager Gary Monte connected on their mutual love for Catfish Keith. Luke's choices are a breath of fresh air, although I disagree with him on the idea that William Elliot Whitmore is underappreciated... especially among his lady fans. So to offset his playlist I spin some tracks from Captain Three Leg, Broken Ones, and Fetal Pig. Also, a long forgotten band called Beef Wellington from Cedar Rapids makes their debut tonight.-Kristian#trustkristiandayListen Now!

Every day is a good day, with O'Shea, and when your healthy! Now to get back out there on the Tractors and Bikes with Paul Costa. Sounds like to much work for us – lucky Luke Dickens is a Friend of Mine, but Big & Rich’s advice doesn’t sit right with me – Save a horse ride a cowboy... It's all too confusing and there is plenty of work to be done!... Also tunes from the McClymonts, and a little chat with Allan Jackson too all on my REAL Country this week.
