The "Wanted! The Outlaws" compilation from 1976 was a huge launching pad (or relaunching pad) for Waylon and Willie. And, it did for country what The Sex Pistols or Ramones did for punk music.Sterling Drake joins us to talk about this game changing compilation and his new album “The Shape I'm In.” Plenty of other discussion including short sleeved pearl snaps, Bro Country vs. Real Country (and some anti Rascal Flatts sentiment), who are the modern country outlaws, women are outlaws too, and Tompall Glaser deserves more discussion.Check out Sterling Drake at: https://sterlingdrakemusic.com/Check out other episodes at RecordsRevisitedPodcast.com or one all your favorite podcast providers like Apple Podcasts, Castbox, iHeartMedia, and Spotify. There is a video making the rounds on social media of firefighters carrying deer out of a fire. It looks so real but is actually an AI generated video. It's hard to tell what is real nowadays and what is actually AI. We put ourselves to the test this morning to see if we could figure out what was an AI created song or a real country tune. Can you tell the difference?

The Young Fables (TYF) create music with storytelling weaved into Americana roots music with pop sensibilities. East Tennessee (Maryville) natives, Laurel Wright and Wes Lunsford are influenced by timeless treasures like Patsy Cline, Bonnie Raitt, Glen Campbell and Chet Atkins. The duo's unique sound has resonated with audiences around the globe as live performances have become stages from which The Young Fables discuss themes and topics typically saved for the therapy couch. Strong advocates for mental health awareness, The Young Fables are focused on helping to erase the stigmas surrounding the topic. Recognizing the duo's advocacy, the pair were honored with The Troy Gentry Compassion Award in 2021 for compassion, commitment, kindness and love. The couple has dropped 3 full length albums Two, Old Songs, and Pages (the latter two collaborations with GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Mitch Dane). Their sound - a whimsical, distinguishable classic country-meets-Americana pop blend - was praised by iconic artists and taste-makers alike, with nine-time GRAMMY® Award winning artist Sheryl Crow tweeting, “Laurel's as good as any country singer out there!” Their releases opened the door for a Rolling Stone “10 Best Country and Americana Songs of the Week” nod, direct support for artists like Vince Gill, Amy Grant, and Rascal Flatts and an invitation from multi-platinum songstress Shania Twain to take part in the CBS showcase celebration Real Country. “Wes is a perfect partner for Laurel's voice. I fell in love with these guys as a genuine, authentic talent and sound,” mused Twain, and Travis Tritt added, “Our industry needs (TYF) right now! 2024 will see Wright and Lunsford releasing SHORT STORIES, the band's 4th studio effort, and their feature documentary 'The Fable of a Song', winner of the 2021 Nashville Film Festival Audience Choice Award. “Every album that we have released has become sort of a journal entry for us and Short Stories is the next chapter.” Wright reveals. “We feel fortunate to have a space to share our music and are so grateful that our story seems to be helping others with their healing. That's a reward unlike any other.” Learn more about The Young Fables at https://www.theyoungfables.com Host Lee Zimmerman is a freelance music writer whose articles have appeared in several leading music industry publications. Estonia's prime minister insists there is a crisis in European defence that needs to be solved now. Kaja Kallas tells Talking Europe that private funding for the acquisition of lethal weapons is blocked, which means the "vibrant" tech sector cannot be engaged. She also urges EU members to consider jointly raising capital on the markets to help Ukraine, which she says will be cheaper than doing so individually. We also discuss Russia putting Kallas on a "wanted" list over the removal or destruction of Soviet-era monuments in Estonia. By invoking Russian domestic laws that don't apply in Estonia, the Kremlin is signalling that "Estonia is not a real country", Kallas says.

Country Music artist Frank Ray joins Rooted Recovery Stories with Patrick Custer this week to discuss his improbable and tumultuous path into the country music scene, the intense trauma and moral complexities he encountered as a police officer of over 10 years, fulfilling childhood dreams and the release of his major debut album. Frank Ray is a former police officer, Texas chart-topper, and bilingual recording artist opening doors for a modern Latino Country movement. Growing up both enriched in his Mexican culture, three miles from the border in New Mexico and surrounded by Country music in Texas, Frank was immersed in the best of both worlds and has been harmonizing the two since. Described as “easygoing contemporary Country with pop-soul hooks and a dash of Southwestern spice” (Rolling Stone) Frank's music is a blend-drawing influences from '90s Texas Country, Latin, R&B and Pop. As an entertainer, Frank delivers engaging, high-energy performances that have a little something for everyone. It's with this cross-cultural appeal and his panorama of influences that the Los Angeles Times proclaims Ray “is looking to stretch Country music's cultural boundaries.” In the three short years since embarking on his musical journey full-time, he has racked up two No. 1 singles and three Top ten singles on Texas Country Radio, become a staff songwriter, landed Frank Rogers as his producer, signed a record deal with BBR Music Group/Stoney Creek Records and much more. In addition to being named an “Artist to Watch” by Rolling Stone, Ray has appeared on USA Network's Real Country, been profiled in the Los Angeles Times and on NBC's TODAY. He has also toured the nation and shared stages in support of artists like Luke Combs, Kane Brown, Brett Eldredge, Luke Bryan, Kip Moore, LANCO, Old Dominion, Hunter Hayes, and more. Besides all the nonsense, we had a great time recording this episode on silence. It's one of the most powerful tools we have for peace, health, and spiritual growth, but how many of us even know how to use it? Have we lost our ability to sit quietly and listen to God's voice? Vinnie Taylor is one half of Stingray's morning show on Real Country 95.5 in Red Deer, Alberta. His career has spanned the 80's to now. We have heard from his co-host Randi Chase on two separate occasions on this show, and thought it was about time we heard from the other half of the show. In this episode you will hear how Vinnie was raised on 630 CHED... and started his radio career in Weyburn, Saskatchewan. We also heard about his time working with Peppermint Patti (morning show co-host) and Gayle Zarbatany (program Director) at Kiss in Calgary; and the unique format that station had. And what's it like to work on a morning show... with a co-host you get along with... that broadcasts clean across Alberta?A thanks to the people who support the show each week and allow it arrive on your phones for free.Blurve: A great way to help you prep your Show.NLogic: TV & radio advertising and audience data solutionsMegatrax - Licensed Music for your radio station or podcast production company. For transcript of this episode click hereSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Randi Chase is back for another round on the show. The last time we had her on in 2018, we talked about her adventures up and down the radio dial in 7 Canadian markets- she was certainly living a "WKRP in Cincinnati" lifestyle. She's remained at the same station since 2018, but a few changes have taken place. Firstly, she moved to Red Deer, and her morning show with Vinny Taylor is now simulcast across stations in the Stingray radio group. And yes, you can still find her doing mornings at Real Country 95.5.In this episode, Randi and I talk about how Alberta has changed since the first time we both moved there. We also explore the project she was working on with Sarah Edmondson, which is a name you might remember from the collection of stories about the NXIVM sex cult stories that came out of Albany, NY. If you want to hear more about that, check out Sarah's podcast, A Little Bit Culty. If you want to hear Randi live, but you're not local to the Red Deer area, you can still tune in on their website. You can also find Randi on Instagram, Twitter or LinkedIn if you'd like to keep up with her.A thanks to the people who support the show each week and allow it arrive on your phones for free.Matt Fogarty VoiceoversNLogic: TV & radio advertising and audience data solutionsMegatrax - Licensed Music for your radio station or podcast production company.A transcription will be forthcoming.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Larry Fleet is a country singer steeped in the rhythms of soul. His facility with R&B lends a swagger to his honky tonk and a simmer to his ballads, qualities that brought him to the attention of Jake Owen and, in turn, to the televised country music competition Real Country. Once Fleet's season on Real Country wrapped up in 2018, he signed with Big Loud Records and released his debut album Workin' Hard in late 2019. A native of White Bluff, Tennessee, Larry Fleet was drawn to music at an early age, playing and singing in his family's bluegrass band when he was just six years old. He spent some time in Chattanooga before heading to Nashville. During those early days, he balanced his fledgling musical career with family life, writing songs and working as a promo man at WSM radio. An early publishing deal didn't generate any success, so he kept grinding away, writing songs when he wasn't working manual labor or as an electrician. Fleet's breakthrough arrived when he played a set of covers at a wedding barn party in 2017, a shindig Jake Owen just happened to attend. Owen took a shine to Fleet. The two became friends, Owen took the singer out on tour and, more importantly, helped him land a spot on Real Country, the USA Network talent competition which featured Owen as a judge. Fleet placed second on Real Country, by which time he had a handful of independent singles -- "Wasted Time," "Working Man," and "Die Young" -- to his credit. Big Loud Records, the label Owen called home, signed the singer to a deal in 2019. Fleet set to work with Joey Moi, a producer best known for his work with Florida Georgia Line and Jake Owen, and cut his debut album, Workin' Hard. Released in November 2019, the album featured the singles "Tied Down" and "Lied About Love." Fleet returned with new music in the summer of 2020 through the release of the single "Where I Find God." --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/ray-turnerofficial/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/ray-turnerofficial/support
