We've all been in the right place at the right time. For me, one of those times was to be hosting and producing MuchWest in Vancouver when Sarah McLachlan moved from Halifax to Vancouver to begin what would become an amazing career. Sarah ended up on the West Coast because in Halifax, her home, she had opened for a band from Nettwerk Records in Kitsilano. They wanted to sign her immediately, but Sarah's parents insisted she finish her schooling. It felt like she came to Vancouver with songs already written and ready to go. It wasn't long before Sarah released her debut album Touch. That's when I first met and interviewed her. The gift she gave the world was songs cutting deep into memory and self-awareness. Since 1989, the gift she's given me was to tell part of the story through our interviews. That's one of the reasons why I asked Sarah to come to Thailand and Cambodia with me in 1991 to tell the story of World Vision's battle with the aids epidemic. Sarah is on record as saying the journey changed her life. It helped her understand the power of giving back. It also leads directly to her involvement with the Sarah McLachlan School of Music. Some of our interviews showed up in the Lilith Fair Documentary. It's been 11 years since Sarah recorded and released new music. Her new album is called Better Broken. We'll talk about a lot of things. Better Broken, Motherhood, today's music world and her place in it, the legacy of Lilith, the Fumbling Towards Ecstasy 30th anniversary Tour and Canada – O Canada.

Flight of the Conchords' Bret McKenzie unveils new album 'Freak Out City' Kiwi musician and comedian Bret McKenzie, best known for his work with Flight of the Conchords, is set to release his second album next week. Freak Out City is a follow-up to his 2022 solo project Songs Without Jokes. The lead off single is All I Need, and Bret McKenzie says it's inspired by his long-term relationship with his wife, Hannah. "It's funny, when you've been in a relationship that long, there are some days where you love each other more than other days... and on one of those days where things were going great, I sat down at the piano and wrote this song." Multi-platinum recording artist Clay Aiken is back with a stunning new version of the Bing Crosby classic "Do You Hear What I Hear?," the first single from his highly anticipated Christmas album Christmas Bells are Ringing, set to be released on November 22nd. Aiken's unique interpretation infuses the classic carol with his signature vocal warmth and emotional depth making it a song for our times. Written in 1962 by Noël Regney and Gloria Shayne as a plea for peace during the Cuban Missile Crisis, "Do You Hear What I Hear?" is timeless in its message, yet even more resonant today. Aiken reflects, "The whole American political climate over the past few years hasn't really given us much in the way of hope or optimism. As much as I wanted to believe I might be able to make some positive change in that world, I've realized that music often does a better job of that." Produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Ron Fair, "Do You Hear What I Hear?" is the first release from Aiken's first studio album in over a decade, following a hiatus from music which found Aiken running for Congressional office in North Carolina, and raising his now teenage son. The album, Christmas Bells are Ringing, marks a return to the holiday music that solidified Aiken's place as a household name in 2004, when his debut holiday album Merry Christmas With Love broke records, selling nearly 300,000 copies in its first week. That album went platinum, becoming the best-selling holiday album of 2004 and earning Aiken three Billboard Music Awards. The new record boasts fresh takes on holiday staples like Nat King Cole's "Caroling, Caroling" and Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmastime", as well as a lush reinvention of "Merry Christmas, Darling" by the Carpenters (one of Clay's musical inspirations) and a show-stopping rendition of "Pure Imagination" which reimagines the Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory classic as a fitting soundtrack for the holiday season. Clay Aiken's rise to stardom began in 2003 as the runner-up on season two of American Idol. His debut single, "This Is the Night" debuted at #1 on Billboard's Hot 100, while his debut album Measure of a Man was certified triple platinum. Aiken has since sold millions of albums, launched national tours, starred on Broadway, and made his mark as a philanthropist and politician.Celebrating the 20th anniversary of Merry Christmas With Love, Clay Aiken's new album, Christmas Bells are Ringing' promises to bring the same joy and spirit to listeners, making it the perfect soundtrack for the 2024 holiday season.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.
Justin Bieber BioSnap a weekly updated Biography. This is Biosnap AI. In the past few days, Justin Bieber has been visible less for controversy and more as a legacy act stepping confidently into his veteran era, with a few moves that could matter long term. Entertainment Weekly reports that he made a rare live appearance in Los Angeles, surprising a sold out SoFi Stadium when he joined SZA onstage during her Grand National Tour for a duet of their 2023 collaboration Snooze. The performance, complete with playful onstage chemistry and a dramatic lift lowering them beneath the stage, marked his first stadium appearance since his Coachella 2024 cameo and signaled that he is edging back into big venue performance mode rather than full touring.Biographically, the larger backdrop is that 2025 has effectively been his comeback year as a recording artist. Wikipedia and multiple music outlets note that he released back to back albums Swag and Swag II this year, more than 40 new songs that reasserted him as an R and B leaning pop presence after a semi hiatus. The Honey Pop writes that Justin Bieber took first place this year, framing 2025 as the year he quote dominated with those records and reignited Bieber Fever, a characterization that, while fan driven, reflects the volume of coverage around the dual releases. On the business and image side, recent coverage continues to link him to the broader Bieber brand machine. TechnoSuffice estimates his 2025 net worth around 300 million dollars, attributing it to music, past touring and business ventures, and lifestyle press has repeatedly connected him to fashion and potential future drops from his SKYLRK brand, though some of that product speculation for 2026 remains unconfirmed and should be treated as fan and blogger expectation rather than hard fact. Earlier this year, outlets such as AOL highlighted his public support of wife Hailey after her Rhode beauty line was acquired by e.l.f. Cosmetics in a one billion dollar deal, reinforcing his shift into high profile family man and investor adjacent optics more than tabloid chaos.Culturally, his catalog is being treated as modern pop canon. A candlelight string quartet tribute show in Miami this week built its entire set list around his hits from Baby to Peaches to newer cuts like Daisies and Yukon, a reminder that even on nights when he is not physically present, the Bieber narrative has moved into the legacy tribute phase more commonly reserved for acts a decade older.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

Most musicians would only dream of opening for Robert Plant from Led Zeppelin on tour but for Rosie Flores the dream came true! Rosie drops by The City's Backyard Podcast on this episode to talk about her music, career, and new album called Impossible Frontiers with her band The Talismen! Plus she speaks about what it's like to be on the road opening for Robert Plant with Saving Grace and Suzi Dian.Rosie Flores, triple-threat Texas musician, has never allowed the challenge of navigating the male-centric worlds of rock and country music slow her down. In fact, she often drew upon those challenges as source material in sharply observed songs she not only wrote and sang with authority and passion, but also brought to life musically as a widely respected lead guitarist in a string of notable bands.Rosie is one of the 2024 NEA National Heritage Fellows! In September 2024 she accepted her gold medal award at the Library Of Congress, appearing at the Kennedy Center as well as the White House. A daughter of San Antonio whose musical journey also has included quality time in Austin, Los Angeles, and Nashville, Flores has adroitly absorbed, helped preserve, and extended the musical legacies of influential Texas musicians as varied as country music's King of Western Swing Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys, blues guitar master T-Bone Walker, and Tex Mex innovator Doug Sahm.In the 1970s, she became one of the most celebrated performers on the “cowpunk” circuit (a hybrid of punk rock and country), alongside such other rising stars as Dwight Yoakam, Lucinda Williams, Rank & File, and Los Lobos (2021 NEA National Heritage Fellows). The release of her 1987 debut solo album Rosie Flores proved her to be a singer and songwriter of the first rank, and helped lay the foundation for what coalesced into the alt country movement.Flores became the first Latina to crack Billboard's country music chart. For her enthusiastic participation in and ongoing promotion of Austin's deep and wide music scene, including the annual South by Southwest Conference, the city has proclaimed Rosie Flores Day in 2006.Flores has remained a spark plug live performer for more than five decades, a goosebump-inducing electric guitarist and songwriter as well as champion of the trailblazers who preceded her. Notably, she lured pioneering rockabilly heroines Wanda Jackson (2005 NEA National Heritage Fellow) and Janis Martin (“the female Elvis”) back into recording studios and onto concert stages for lauded late-career rejuvenations. Flores won a 2007 Peabody Award for her narration of the NPR rockabilly documentary, Whole Lotta Shakin'.For more on Rosie and her tour click here > https://rosieflores.com/tour/

Interview by Ali WilliamsIf you've ever wondered what happens when progressive death metal collides head-on with a full-blown orchestra (spoiler: nobody wears a tux, but plenty of heads bang), Persefone's latest adventure has the answer. In a good vibes interview with HEAVY Magazine's Ali Williams, Bobby Verdeguer from Persefone takes us behind the scenes of the band's new live album, out now, and gives us a taste of the chaos, genius, and caffeine that went into its creation. Persefone's new release, Live In Andorra, isn't just another concert recording—it's a mad scientist experiment: death progressive metal and live orchestra in the same room. Recorded during a one-off orchestral show at the National Auditorium of Andorra in May 2024, the album celebrates the band's 20-year history and their return home after a decade, featuring a full collaboration with the Orquestra Nacional Clàssica d'Andorra. Bobby admits that making a live album in today's “attention-deficit” age is, in his words, “a stupid idea.” But when the end result is this sublime, who cares about market logic? If you want new music, you're out of luck—this is a celebration of the band's 20th anniversary, featuring songs from across their catalogue, played with enough complexity to make even a Swiss watch blush. What results when you have an orchestra, a death metal band, and two rehearsals—one the morning of the show? “Stressful” is an understatement. The orchestra arrived the day before the recording, and after a couple of quick run-throughs, it was showtime. The whole thing was captured live, meaning there was “extra pressure of not fucking things up,” as Bobby charmingly put it. The musical tightrope walk paid off, resulting in a performance that's as raw as it is sophisticated. The artwork for their latest release is mint, so you know the merch is gonna slap. As for vinyl? You'd better buy two copies: “One you open, one you keep sealed for street cred.” He's not joking about the collector mentality, either—just don't expect to find a Persefone vinyl in a bargain bin anytime soon. Touring has been relentless, including recent festival runs in the US and a debut Australian tour with Belakor and Orpheus Omega. Oh, and if you're ever planning to fly from Andorra to Australia, prepare for two days, four stopovers, and a test of your will to live (someone, please, sponsor these guys an airline). With the live album freshly set forth on the world, Persefone aren't about to rest on their laurels. Upcoming plans include shows in France, a stint on the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise (yep, the floating festival of your dreams), and a US tour (still under wraps). Most importantly for fans: they're already working on a new studio album of fresh material, aiming to top even this ambitious milestone. If you're new to Persefone, Bobby promises this album is the perfect entry point—a wild snapshot of the band's evolution, energy, and international weirdness. For longtime fans, it's a high-octane victory lap, packed with classic tracks and orchestral bombast. In the immortal words of Bobby: “Go listen.” Live in Andorra is out now —get ready to be crushed, caressed, and possibly convinced you need more vinyl in your life. Send us a textShock Rockers Dangerous Toys Are Rattling Your Cage As Demolition Grows Closer#shockrock #newmusic #newalbum #dangeroustoys #hardrock #heavymetal Southern sleaze-metal veterans Dangerous Toys might not have released a new album in 30 years (although they promise there's one on its way), but that hasn't stopped them from establishing themselves among the most ferocious live bands on the circuit right now, while an avid following remains as rabid as ever. Time, then, to break the silence with Demolition, a brain melting compilation of 10 tracks, all previously unreleased and recorded during the hiatus between the band's second and third albums, 1991's Hellacious Acres and 1994's Pissed - arguably, the peak of the original band's activities. It wasn't easy selecting the contents. Snow in the forecast, feelings in the headphones. We open with a wintry mood and step straight into three tracks that turn heartbreak into something strangely beautiful: Patrickananda and Belle Chalisa's Doku, kiki vivi lily's WARUIYUME, and MONSTA X's baby blue. The through-line isn't just breakups; it's how sound design, vocal color, and subtle symbolism help us face what words alone can't say.Doku sets the tone with a slow, somber pulse and two voices circling the same wound from different angles. Soft, lo-fi textures and overlapping details create a wavering reality where “making it right” might be impossible, and how the production mirrors the messiness of accountability in love. From there, WaruiYume flips the palette: kiki vivi lily's bright, city-pop shimmer and jazz-kissed bass carry a “bad dream” through midnight toward a new day. We dig into pep as a coping mechanism, airy harmonies as self-talk, and the way a hook can lift your mood without erasing the ache. Then the synths go neon, baby blue taps into 80s nostalgia with a driving beat, but the vocals ask you to slow down and feel the cost of “a love that you get used to.” We unpack the tension between momentum and longing, the velvet blend of harmonies, and the video's rain-and-raven imagery—cleansing, transformation, and the courage to leave comfort behind. If you're drawn to R&B-inflected ballads, city pop glow, and retro K-pop that aches and sparkles at once, this one will stick.Queue it up, let the layers unfold, and tell us which moment caught your breath—the whispered confession, the midnight mantra, or that chorus you couldn't stop replaying. A member of a boy band is releasing a solo album soon!
Brandi Carlile has been one of my favorite singers for some time now. Her voice is genuine and honest. I was a bit disappointed in her last couple of releases, and I was excited to see she has a new album out. The first in four years. And this album does not disappoint! This week we take a look at this album produced by herself along with Aaron Desner, Aaron Wait, and Justing Vernon (Bon Iver).
Ferg discusses the inspiration behind "Flip Phone Shorty," including a unique take on the Y2K era and a surprising connection to Lil B. The conversation also delves into the artist's passion for flip phones and a surprising origin story for their grillz.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Indie singer/songwriter Gregory McLoughlin's new self titled arrives Dec 12th to all streaming platforms! For years, Gregory McLoughlin has done what most artists won't – stream every Monday night to a loyal online crowd, play to anyone who'll listen, and find ways to turn small moments into connection. His debut album carries the weight and warmth of that work, and I'd love to get your thoughts on setting something up with Greg to help tell his story over the next few weeks. Gregory's story is really about building connection the long, patient way. He's spent years doing it the only way he knows how – showing up with a bass, a kick drum, and a foot tambourine, asking strangers in parking lots and campgrounds, “Can I play you a song?” Sometimes they walk away, sometimes they sing along, and every now and then, a whole campsite joins in. That fearless, face-to-face kind of performing has quietly become his trademark.Around Hoboken, he's a familiar face; if you're part of the local music scene, you probably know Greg. A few years ago, through nothing but charm and persistence, he convinced Symposia Bookstore on Washington Street to let him play there once a week – and somehow, it stuck. Now, every week, people gather in that cozy little bookstore to see him play. It says everything about who he is: steady, fearless, and completely committed to connecting with people, even if he's never been the coolest guy in the room. Make sure to check out his new self titled album, arriving Dec 12th!
