I'm joined by Michael R. Shea in this episode. He has a fascinating story of growing up not hunting to eventually being an editor for Field and Stream magazine to now the Senior Editor for Free Range American. He gives insight into the difference of being a contract editor versus staffed, and some of the ways you could go about getting into the world of writing yourself. He also shares about how they got to a flock of 200 chickens. We explore the idea of being a generalist vs. mastering a craft. It was really interesting to think about the advantages to being a generalist in a time when people really think you must master something. He even shares his infamous story about tanning a deer hide in his apartment in New York City. Everyone has a life story, and I was fortunate enough to sit down and listen to the journey of Michael Shea, who went from a New England native with the dream of being a journalist to a die-hard duck hunter traveling the United States writing about his experiences. The twists and turns of his path have come to a cohesive pass, landing him as a prime contributor in notable publications. It was awesome having Michael on the show, and I know you're going to enjoy hearing his story!
