We're kicking off the annual 3rd season of BatMarch with our 275th episode and a classic Batman comic: A Death In The Family. .. and YOU get to decide the fate of the podcast! This 1988 Batman story featuring the death of Robin Jason Todd is one of the most iconic DC Batman stories written by Jim Starlin, art by Jim Aparo, & edited by Dennis O'Neil. But first Cody once again lies & gaslights us into believing he's capable of being on time. Cody also falls in love with the MCU after years of disappointment. Is this story a hot bed of mediocrity? Jason Todd is low key a bitch & deserved to die. His mom might be the worst human alive. Anthony points out similarities between this book & HBO's The Penguin. Is this book racist & dated as fuck? Is Chris Jericho a piece of shit? Which one of Cody's friends got a DUI recently? Cody & Jake fuck with Shane Gillis. This comic features Jake & Anthony's favorite Batman color scheme. Is Superman a boot licker in this book? Are the choices for this story a little off? Does it feel like a Batman story? The fans voted for Jason Todd to get killed off. Is RFK Jason Todd? Would Trump give The Joker a position in his cabinet? Is Covid rotting Jake's brain or turning him into The Leader? Tune in this month for more BatMarch as we cover The Cult, Batman Forever, Batman Earth One, The Dark Knight Rises, & Batman White Knight. This episode may not be for the ears of children and may contain some mature language and adult subject matter. Just a little midweek humor to brighten your day. We like to call this segment “The Midweek Howl.” Enjoy! From The Shadows Podcast is a program where we seriously discuss the supernatural, the paranormal, cryptozoology as well as ufology. Send Victoria a text message!Let me support you in this week's episode by guiding you through a journey of understanding grief—especially when someone close doesn't seem to be handling a family death well. This isn't just another conversation but an invitation for introspection and growth.Key Highlights:The episode is thoughtfully structured around three pivotal areas:Coping Perspectives: It challenges us to question societal grieving norms and consider what constitutes healthy coping.Relationship Dynamics: Every bond with the departed is unique. Energy & Focus Direction: Looking inward at our own healing rather than outward in judgment.Open dialogue about grief within families can lead to personal healing and generational change. This isn't easy, but it's necessary for healthy healing to continue within family dynamics —and ultimately transform generational trauma and beliefs that are not in anyone's highest good. I invite you to engage further, ask probing questions about your own experiences with grief, and explore resources for guidance on this tender path. This episode goes beyond mere discussion—it offers deep insights that may help you unlock something deep within that, perhaps, you've never realized before hearing this episode. If you find it helpful, please share this episode with someone you know and love, for it may unlock something for them, too. And who knows...it may be a catalyst for conversation as well.

When Irene Paget met John Barron, she thought she would have the life she had always wanted: to be a wife and mother. However, Jack Barron was not who Irene thought he was. He was overbearing, obsessed with his appearance, and flew off the handle at everything that displeased him. When a string of deaths occur within the family, the community rallies to support poor Jack Barron who seems to have lost it all, until people start asking questions. One sudden death is a tragedy, but four looks like murder.Connect with us on Social Media! You can find us at:Instagram: @bookofthedeadpodX: @bkofthedeadpodFacebook: The Book of the Dead PodcastTikTok: BookofthedeadpodOr visit our website at www.botdpod.com Promo for Sinister Story Hour: These are the stories your mother never told you! English-American music icon Billy Idol joins Everything Fab Four to discuss the exhilaration of being a Beatle fan “in real time” and how his voice was mistaken for Paul McCartney's. Billy Idol began his rock n roll career as the guitarist for Chelsea, subsequently achieving renown on the London punk rock scene in the 1970s, when he performed as the lead singer for Generation X. His career truly exploded in the 1980s when he moved to New York City to pursue a solo career working in collaboration with guitarist Steve Stevens. His eponymous debut LP yielded monster hits in “White Wedding” and “Dancing with Myself,” while his 1983 sophomore album Rebel Yell achieved double-platinum success on the heels of “Eyes without a Face” and the sizzling title track “Rebel Yell.” Over the years, he has continued to burnish his star on the shoulders of such albums as Whiplash Smile, Charmed Life, Cyberpunk, Devil's Playground, and, most recently, Kings and Queens of the Underground. In 2024, Rebel Yell was remastered in a deluxe new edition to celebrate Billy's incredible 40-year run as one of music's most beloved, and most notorious, artists. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/everythingfabfour/support

Help NinetyForChill: The #Podcast get away from paywalls by subscribing to "Ninety For Chill: The Podcast with CatBusRuss". Hopefully everyone has had a great start to 2024. With all the festivities, finding a guest was going to be next to impossible, so CatBusRuss got a week off to relax. Or did he? These festive times means most people have little time, so our host had to make up for this with an action movie binge. This will be the closest to an Illinois Central College hosted B-Fest. that we think you can find. Russ wanted to clear out some of the cheap and/or hard to find DVDs from his queue. From his past two February trips up to Evanston, he thinks he has come up with a quadruple feature that would make the Northwestern programmers proud. Not all of the flicks discussed will make the cut. If you want to learn more about Chris Jericho, stick around to the end for an "Android Apocalypse" review. In an attempt to get you ready for the CG chaos of "Black Mask 2: City of Masks", our host did revisit the 1996(9) Jet Li feature, "Black Mask". The final line up of four fun-filled films is Ivan Drago vs Kano (95) in the mercenary tale, "Men of War", the mutant-pro-wrestling allegory, "Black Mask 2", Brian Bosworth vs. Lance Henriksen in biker porn, "Stone Cold", and the choose your own adventure, DC Animated Feature "Batman: Death in the Family". Imagine how that can turn an audience on each other. All of the features can be found streaming (provided you want to spend $12.99 for BM2). The only way right now to watch "Stone Cold" is currently on Pluto TV via "Rifftrax". Here's hoping Bill, Kevin, and Mike's transfer is as good as my blu-ray.

The Sullivanians:Through a Blue Window ((c) 2019 shelley feinerman's Podcast
Initially, the group was a vibrant blend of energy—artists, musicians, writers, actors, politics, and interpersonal drama. Serena left the apartment, and Sandra Aguilar, the only minority in the group, was added to the mix. In the group, there was an elite hierarchy among the trainees, the therapists of the institute, and the people they dated, who were given preferential placement in the burgeoning Marxist classes. In this episode, you'll learn about the conflict created by Annie's decision to hire and then fire Steve Berman, a non-Sullivanian, as an instructor of Intro to Marxism based on the directive of Annie's therapist. This is another example of Annie's intractability and a foreshadowing of events to come as heard in the Aug 30, 2023, Through a Blue Window( getting out) episode. The episode takes an intimate and harrowing turn as it recounts the dictate given to me by my therapist after a call from my sister, the support I did receive, and the emotional wasteland I still can find myself wandering in a lifetime later. In the immediate aftermath of leaving the Sullivanians, in the quiet of my new apartment, I wrote an eulogy for my mother. This was the first step in helping me shape the trajectory of my life and 45 years later I still turn to it when I feel her presence and profound absence. Join me as I navigate these deeply human experiences, with insights that may resonate with your journey facing the complexities of life and relationships. The complete documentary Through a BlueWindow can be seen on my youtube channel shellfein1. I would love to hear your thoughts.Thank you
This week, Eric and Josh discuss: poor office lighting, high school friends, Gitanes Burger, ghosts, Fifth Avenue Cinemas, video stores, shoplifting, A Death In The Family, Secret Wars, The Thomas Crown Affair remake, the Oscars, and more! They also mention the movies screening the week of Friday February 16 - Thursday February 22: Ru, How To Have Sex, A Page Of Madness, The Thomas Crown Affair, and Big Shark! Because the recording happened before the schedule was finalized, they neglect to mention that The Boy And The Heron, and The Braid are returning for a few more screenings.

In this episode, The Wrap Beers sip on Ruffino Chianti wine to discuss Martin Scorsese's latest cinematic masterpiece, Killers of the Flower Moon and why it is so important to go see in theaters while it's still available. Their favorite Martin Scorsese film is, however, not up for debate. Hint: it's not Killers of the Flower Moon (although we really do highly recommend seeing it as soon as possible for other reasons). A word on the social media "algorithm", which apparently rewards bias and opinion over our routine shenanigans. A DEATH IN THE FAMILY! Congrat to Edmund Dehn! "SAW X". John enjoys the sights of Mexico. Rossys Dad is going to Texas! Yeehaw! All this and the Prog Review!
DC has announced they are releasing the Death In The Family story with the Full Alternate scenes with Jason Todd surtviving The Joker''s attempt to kill him. With that in mind, here's a 2018 Terrificon Panel , in which Batman Editor Denny O'Neil and writer Jim Starlin map out the entire details of how the story happened. From the 1-900 phone gimmick of allowing fans to vote and decide Jason's fate, to the DC corporate fallout Denny and Jim faced by killing Jason off. Also on the panel telling Robin stories are Mike W Barr Peter Tomasi and Tim Seeley. A great discussion. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/3143082/advertisement

POW! This week, V and Emily venture to the DC side of comics fandom as they learn about "A Death in the Family" and the poll to kill off, or save, Batman's Robin at the time, Jason Todd. From the involvement of grandmothers trying to soothe weeping children who loved Robin to utterly bananas racism in the comic itself, "A Death in the Family" changed the course of Batman comics for decades and still affects stories today as Jason Todd has had a resurgence of popularity as the Red Hood (voiced, because of course he is, by one Jensen Ackles). This episode goes out to TWIFH supporter Jess, who schooled V in all things Jason Todd! Do you Batman fandom? Would you have voted to kill or save Robin?
The Night Of The Hunter is Exhibit A when you talk about films that are revered more now than they were when they came out. To many, this KEEPS getting better every time they see it. We're fans too. Charles Laughton was better known as a clever actor, but this was his directorial debut. For a first-time director, he pulled off a stylish allegory and scary fairy tale that's filled with surreal images. He and his team used light & shadows brilliantly. Now, we didn't love some of the performances and we took issue with the title of the film, although we have a theory about who really is the hunter. There's no questioning Robert Mitchum's work though. This is as vicious a villain as the tough guy ever played. He's a supposed man of god who's really just a violent misogynist who casually kills women...although in this story, he's motivated by money. Run away, kids! Billy Chapin and Sally Jane Bruce have as much screen-time as Mitchum does---although a very-effective Shelley Winters sure doesn't---in this chase/horror river voyage that deepens once Lillian Gish comes on the scene. So sit on the porch with a shotgun and abide the children---especially those with clandestine money---as our 533rd episode sees what's up in this Depression-era, child-endangerment movie. Well, Actually: James Agee's Pulitzer Prize was for his 1957 autobiography called A Death In The Family. Also, we didn't get into this, but is Harry Powell actually a reverend...or is he lying about that too? Sparkplug Coffee is our sponsor. Content warning: A minor is murdered. In this episode, we examine one of the most popular Batman stories of all time: A Death in the Family from Batman #426-429 by Jim Starlin and Jim Aparo, published by DC Comics! In 1988, DC established a pair of 900 numbers to allow readers to vote whether Jason Todd, the second Robin, would live or die. Spoiler alert: He dies. But that's not even the most memorable part of this truly bizarre tale that features a cameo appearance by the Ayatollah Khomeini and sees the Joker go from international arms dealer to Iran's ambassador to the United Nations! Can the Dark Knight Detective avenge the gruesome death of his teenage ward and stop the Clown Prince of Crime from killing a roomful of U.N. delegates? And is there any chance that this story achieves that diplomatic immunity known as ... The Comics Canon? In This Episode: · Visit Historic Crime Alley! · What is Iran's endgame, exactly? · What does Superman sound like with his lungs full of gas? · A Lonely Place of Dying · Extraordinary on Hulu · If Books Could Kill · Direct Conversations: Talks With Fellow DC Comics Bronze Age Creators · Fantastic Four: Full Circle by Alex Ross Join us in two weeks as we extend our stay in Gotham to discuss Grant Morrison and Andy Kubert's Batman and Son! There's a lot of loss in the world these days, both in our individual lives and in our broader communities, and with those losses comes grief. Grief is one of the most challenging emotions to be with, and it can be difficult to offer generalized advice because everyone's experience of grief is profoundly unique. On today's episode of Being Well, Forrest is joined by one of the world's leading researchers on grief, Dr. Mary-Frances O'Connor, to help us better understand grief and grieving. They explore why grief is such a unique and intense emotion, how grief works in the brain, the problems with generalized models like the “five stages of grief,” and how we can learn to live with loss.About Our Guest: Mary-Frances is a neuroscientist, clinical psychologist, and associate professor of psychology at the University of Arizona, where she directs the Grief, Loss and Social Stress Lab, which investigates the effects of grief on the brain and the body. She's also the author of the wonderful book The Grieving Brain: The Surprising Science of How We Learn from Love and Loss. Watch the Episode: Prefer watching video?
