Tales from the Bow Hunt with Trevor Thompson   Show Notes:   Los Angeles native Trevor Thompson didn't grow up hunting, but you'd never know that today. He tried his hand at art school before joining the Navy and being a member of the Seal teams for nine years. After getting out, Trevor did a little bit of contracting before working for Black Rifle Coffee and now he works for Protekt Products, a veteran-owned supplement company.    Before he started working at Black Rifle, Trevor got introduced to bow hunting on a black bear hunt and was immediately hooked. He hasn't gone a year without taking an animal since, and he mostly eats meat from his hunts at home. Trevor's getting ready to head up to Kodiak to guide for brown bears. We chat a bit about the nature of bear hunting, how it's changed, and how quota limits get set.    Trevor shares a story from a tough elk hunt he had last year on the west coast of Oregon. He had his mind set on using only a self bow, but things didn't turn out quite as expected. Today's guest is Matthew Thomas. Matthew is the Chief Deputy of the Pinal County Sheriff's Office, a former Pinal Regional SWAT team commander, Mexican cartel expert, and bestselling author. He has served with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office for over 30 years. Before becoming the Chief Deputy, Matthew served in Detention, Patrol, Traffic, Training, Academy, Narcotics, Motors, and Investigations. Today's guest is Chris Hadfield. Chris is a New York Times bestselling author, speaker, musician, retired astronaut, and former combat pilot. Before becoming an astronaut, Chris was a tactical fighter pilot in the Canadian Armed Forces. He was the top graduate of the U.S. Air Force Pilot School and was named U.S. Navy Test Pilot of the Year in 1991. In 2005, Chris was inducted into Canada's Aviation Hall of Fame. Chris is one of the most accomplished astronauts in the world. He was the first Canadian astronaut to walk in space and to operate a robotic arm in orbit. During his career, he flew three missions, helped build two space stations, and performed two spacewalks. He also served as mission control for 25 Space Shuttle missions, coordinated crews for the Shuttle and Soyuz spacecraft, and served as NASA's director of operations in Russia from 2001 to 2003. In 2013, he became the first Canadian to be named commander of the International Space Station (ISS).  Now, Chris serves as an advisor to SpaceX and Virgin Galactic and is the chair of the board for the Open Lunar Foundation, a nonprofit that is working to create a cooperative and peaceful presence on the moon.  Chris is the co-creator and host of the BBC series Astronauts: Do You Have What It Takes?  He also produces Rare Earth on YouTube, and contributed to the National Geographic show One Strange Rock, hosted by Will Smith. Today's guest is Drago Dzieran. Drago is an author, entrepreneur, retired Navy SEAL, and former political prisoner.  Born in communist Poland, Drago immigrated to the United States in 1984 after being imprisoned for his political activism against the oppressive regime. Today's guest is Matt “Willy” Williams. Matt is an Australian Army veteran, independent journalist, and content creator.  He served in the Australian Infantry with the 7th Battalion Royal Australian Regiment from 2014-2021. At the age of 22, after returning to Australia from deployment in Afghanistan, Matt was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.  Following being discharged from the Australian Army, Matt discovered a passion for content creation. In 2022, he spent six and a half months as an independent war correspondent documenting the war in Ukraine.
