On this episode of Talk Dirt to Me, we're joined by Dustin McArthur, a precision ag specialist for Helena Chemical who knows agronomy like the back of his hand. We take a deep dive into corn and soybean strategies for 2025, breaking down whether farmers should cut costs on their fertility plan, which inputs matter most, and how early they should plant to maximize yield. We also get into the hot debate on fungicide—does it actually pay off, or is it just another expense? Just how beneficial are cover crops and what blends work best? And of course, the big question on every soybean grower's mind: how can you hit 100-bushel beans? If you're looking to fine-tune your farm's strategy and get the most out of your acres, you don't want to miss this one. Plus, in our American Made segment, we're spotlighting two powerhouse brands: Black Rifle Coffee Company and Lodge Cast Iron—both built on grit, quality, and American craftsmanship. Keurig Dr Pepper (NASDAQ: KDP) basically went from getting its categorical ass whipped to being the most interesting energy drinks portfolio in just two short years by acquiring a large stake in Nutrabolt (owner of C4 Energy), strategically partnering with Black Rifle Coffee Company to distribute its new energy drink, acquiring GHOST Lifestyle, and adding Bloom Energy to its national DSD system. But what if KDP was making all these strategic moves to simply hedge against a growing risk on its multibillion-dollar U.S. coffee segment? KDP was recently charged by the SEC over making inaccurate statements within past earnings reports about the recyclability of K-Cups. And while the civil penalty levied was laughable, it highlights sustainability questions at a time when conscious consumerism is becoming more popular. If anything, maybe it's telling when the K-Cup inventor has publicly stated for years his regret over the negative environmental impact of those tiny plastic pods.

Hunting Gets Political with Baker Leavitt Show Notes: Baker Leavitt is a Broker of Expertise and the Director of Strategic Relations over at Black Rifle Coffee Company. In the 2000s, he made a fortune in real estate, but when the economy crashed, he lost everything. From there, he went to NYU to learn Arabic, and he started the drink company Kill Cliff, which he sold in the late 2010s. He then started up a consulting company called Digital Mongoose, and today he invests with several top companies. We kick off our conversation by discussing a recent incident in Wyoming where someone got fined for torturing a wolf. Most of the hunting community, including Howl for Wildlife, was appalled and it's our goal to see some better legislation passed. Shockingly, some people are against the person being punished, and we share our thoughts. Baker and I talk about his fishing trips, one of which was with Donald Trump Jr.! Every year, Baker shoots one elk, and he shares his experiences hunting in Utah and Colorado. He lives in Florida, but he also has a farm in Georgia where he hunts whitetail. Baker loves turkey hunting, too. We talk about some of the political stuff Baker's involved in, and we wrap things up with Baker sharing a story about an elk hunt on horseback in Idaho.
